Bloomfield Best Bagels
“Ordered a bagel with egg, cheese and Taylor ham, a dozen bagels and some chive cream cheese to go.”
“The wrap came with freshly sauteed veggies, including some of the thinnest breaded eggplant I've come across.”
“Yeah yeah yeah, the occasional mistake happens but considering the volume they do, it is expected.”

As I read through some of the reviews of this bagel and deli place, I was wondering what some of these Yelp users were talking about. After driving through Bloomfield and needing some breakfast in a hurry, I decided to give this place a try. As always I checked on Yelp first. I was kind of apprehensive, at first, as to what the place was going to be but when I entered I was pleasantly surprised. They have a few tables to sit in and enjoy you breakfast. The place is very clean. This puts other deli's and bagel shops to shame with how well they keep everything neat. Perhaps because of their recent renovations that place looks modern enough. Their coffee station is organized and what a surprise they have Starbucks coffee! I laughed at the thought of a Starbucks coffee in a bagel store. It's like seeing Fendi bags in Walmart. I ordered an egg and turkey sausage omelet with cheddar cheese and whole wheat toast on the side. The omelet was cooked properly. The flavors were not extraordinary but very delicious nonetheless. I also took home half a dozen bagels and was satisfied with the flavors. Overall BBB is a nice place to have a satisfying breakfast.
Of course my vacation had to fall during one of the hottest weeks in New Jersey, in the summer, when tons of people decide to take their own vacations. "Why not go for a jog?" I had the bright idea one morning while we were bereft of a car. In the mid-90-degree weather, that jog quickly turned into a power walk, which soon turned into a sluggish walk.
After stopping by a few Bloomfield Pokestops, we decided to grab some brunch. The place wasn't very crowded, and, I admit, the sign advertising rainbow bagels played a factor in luring me in. While there are a few daily specials, we stuck to the usual menu and ordered a wrap, a sandwich, and a rainbow bagel, as well as a few bottled drinks from the fridge to cool us down in the summer heat.
Service was pretty quick, and the food was solid, if nothing to write home about but good to recommend to others. The Italian sandwich was huge, well-filled, refreshing, and came on a sourdough-like bread, if a bit hard to bite through. The wrap came with freshly sauteed veggies, including some of the thinnest breaded eggplant I've come across. I had to wait a few minutes for the wrap to cool down! We really enjoyed the sandwich/wraps. The rainbow bagel tasted like, well, a bagel. They put a heaping layer of horseradish bacon cream cheese on top, which I didn't care for too much. However, cream cheese compliments bagels well anywhere. There are a few tables to sit at and a pretty clean restroom, and I appreciate that the dining area is well-maintained.
Bloomfield's Best will definitely fill you up, but you might want to take a nap afterwards. Or it could be the heat. Either way, it's a good place to go for a solid breakfast/lunch/brunch. I'm gonna round up to 4 stars from 3.5.
Considering we got 2 bagels for under $5, I was happy. The first was the poppyseed toasted with cream cheese. It was warm, not really toasted, but loaded with cream cheese. I read that one Yelper complained of a lack of cream cheese. Not the case on this bagel.
The second bagel, (garlic bagel) I ordered to go with the cream cheese on the side, which they got right. And again, there was more than enough cream cheese in what appeared to be a 4 oz. to-go cup.
I've also read other Yelpers complaining about this place not being clean. I disagree. I heard BBB did some renovations so perhaps those reviews pre-date the renovations.
The only thing keeping me back from giving the supposed new and improved BBB 4 stars is the wait time. This is one area where I do agree with my fellow Yelpers. There was one other customer in the store on the Sunday morning I went and I waited about 15 minutes to get 2 bagels to go, only one of which was toasted.
My preference remains Hot Bagels Abroad.
I was excited to find a rainbow bagel store in NJ after recently discovering the original bagel store that started this trend. The cream cheese tasted like amaretto?! Such an odd flavor for cream cheese to have. Must be the mix of cream cheese and sugar…I don't know for sure, but it was odd. After one bite I was done. It wasn't the flavor I was expecting.
The bagel is chewy and soft but not the same texture or flavor as the original. It's really just a colored plain bagel.
This review is only for the bagel, it's the only reason I went out of my way to go to this store. I'm sure the other items are good, but no reason to come back when there are other bagel stores closer to me.
Service was good and they have a nice selection of other things. If you go, mayne try something else.
I ordered egg whites, cheese on a whole wheat wrap. The cheese was melted just right. The wrap was nice and warm. I was pleased. They also have sundried tomato cream cheese which is my favorite. Cant say that the bagels are as good as most other places in Bergen County (where they are better, I believe).
Best bagels on Broad Street!!
I had my order delivered to my job this afternoon in under 30 minutes. The driver was funny and courteous.
IGNORE THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS! Those people are just idiots.
This joint is always packed around breakfast time (never came for lunch). It's family owned and quite popular in town. The twin cashiers are always so friendly. Prices are extremely reasonable. Food is of quality. The coffee selection is great, too. I always come here when doing laundry on the weekend mornings.
This was my second time at BB, and it confirmed my initial visit's vibe: stale bagels. I always get the same thing whenever I do a morning bagel: egg whites, cheese, ketchup, on a whole wheat bagel. It's my personal standard…
The other issue is wait time: and yes, it's pretty rough. We waited almost 15 minutes for our two orders (one was a wrap with egg/cheese, the other was a bagel) – other places, like previously reviewed Manhattan Bagel, do a much quicker service with a better QUALITY. I'd give it a higher score if the quality was worth the wait, but it wasn't.
I've experienced two stale, hard bagels at Bloomfield Best – it felt like they were slashing your throat on the way down! Very unsettling, and not a pleasant experience.
