  1. My friend and I had such a wonderful experience here last night. The atmosphere was warm with dimly lit candles surrounding the restaurant and the staff was extremely tentative. Now the food…the best part! We ordered the cowboy, mac and cheese and the mushrooms and I must say the accompaniment of sides and the tender meat could not be forgotten! Everything was perfect and blended well together. I do advise DO NOT FINISH ALL THE POPOVERS even tho they are best when pipping hot. You would want to save your appetite for the main course. Happy eating everyone!

  2. BNO with the guys was quite a feast here as some classy gents such as my buds Dan C and Dave H joined me to partake in an evening of manly men steak consumption.

Put on that suit and tie, grab a cocktail at the bar, sit down and order a steak, throw down the credit card, and enjoy life. The only thing missing was a good cigar.

We did it right here and they took care of us. Great service, the food was on point, and atmosphere was sophisticated but not overly upscale and fussy. Nice scene at the bar with an affable bartender and cool tunes playing.

Don't heed the haters here, as it seems many of them would also whine about their burgers at White Castle not being good enough.

Is it pricey? You bet! That's what a steakhouse goes for in NYC. Deal with it and eat. That's why you throw down the plastic and have at it.

What can I say other then we picked out some great wines, my filet mignon was perfectly prepared, the sides such as grilled aparagus, mushroom caps, and mashed potatoes were just right, and the manager even came over to say hello and had some extra appetizers sent to our table complimentary. Now that's what I call an epic meal.

Great food, great conversation, great company, great fun. That's what a BNO is all about. To eat loads of meat and talk about manly things without our gals being around for a night.

Dat popover served up first tho. Dayum!

  3. I have to update my review of BLT Steak and knock a star off.

We found ourselves with a sitter on a Saturday night and no place to go. After deciding we had a hankering for steak, we checked out some of our old favorites and BLT Steak jumped to the top of the list.

We arrived on time for our 7:00 pm reservation and were seated promptly. The room is beautiful, dimly lit and modernly masculine. The staff is very attentive and serves the food very fast.

We were given a "gift from the chef." A pot of a chicken liver pate with bread crisps.  It was very heavy and very tasty. Then came the infamous popovers. They were very tasty but also, extremely heavy.

The rest of our meal consisted of:

    – Tuna Tartar – very good

    – Blue Point Oysters – very tasty and fresh

    – Porterhouse Steak – delicious

    – Hipster Fries (french fries with parmesan, jerky and peppers) – Disgusting would be a compliment.

    – Broccolini – very good

    – S'mores Bread Pudding – very heavy but tasty

    – Cappuccino – so hot it literally burned the back of my throat. I have a sore on my soft palate from it. The packaged liquid sugar were a very nice touch.

In the end the service felt very rushed. We were done with our meal by a few minutes after 8. It felt like very expensive fast food.

With all the steakhouses in Manhattan, not sure if we would come back.

  4. This isn't the hippest steakhouse in town, but it's one of the best in my opinion. I love their steak, of course, but sometimes I go just to get drinks, appetizers, sides, and dessert! It's a great way to taste some amazing food without breaking the bank by ordering a swanky steak. With that said, if you're going to go all out, order the Porterhouse steak for 2. It's plenty big and cooked to order (medium rare, yes, please).

The only other entrées I've tried on my multiple visits include the short ribs and the salads–all very yummy. Note that last night when we went, it looks like they are now serving the short ribs with 1/2 of a lobster (probably a seasonal menu change). Yum! On this visit, Tony and I ordered the entrée Loster "Cobb" salad to split. We had hit up a party beforehand and weren't super hungry. Plus, we didn't want to have anything heavy like steak. I highly recommend this salad. Yummy!

As for appetizers, all of them are scrumptious, with my favorites being the bacon (thick cut and topped w/ chimichurri sauce; out of this world) and the tuna tartar w/ avocado (served with homemade waffle potato chips to dip the tuna with; delicious). Also, a discussion of BLT is not complete without talking about their shareable sides! You really can't go wrong w/ any of them! My favorites include the Potatoes Gratin (OMG; but, it's gotta be a cheat day), the Hen Of The Woods Wild Mushrooms (healthier but just as yummy), and the Brussels sprouts (w/ bacon; again, yes, please).

Finally, I must mention the desserts! You can't go wrong with any of these either. The menu changes up every once and a while, but they always seem to have some kind of bread pudding. Last night, they featured a S'mores Bread Pudding, which we tried, and it was first rate! Highly recommended.

As for service, you only get the best at BLT! 'nuff said!

  5. perfect.

Came here with my mother and boyfriend for their introduction dinner. When placing the reservation I asked for a nice quite corner table so that they could get acquainted and that is exactly what we got. The whole experience was wonderful. Every single person working here was polite and professional. You could tell they all cared about their job and your experience at their restaurant. We each had steak and all of us loved each cut. Their cocktails were tasty. Their sides executed perfectly. Their dessert left you wanting more. All in all a wonderful experience.

  6. Kinda been dreaming about those popovers…

My steak was less than memorable and the side dishes are about the size of something you would get out of an easy bake oven. That being said, the truffle mashed were really good, I just want more.

Go for the steak salad if you're stopping by for lunch. Get down on those popovers and order the Arnold Palmer as a refreshing beverage.

  7. I'm really torn on whether I should give them 3 or 4 stars – 3.5 would probably be more like it.

Had dinner here for a party of 4 and the restaurant was packed on a Wednesday evening.  The space is pleasant, very clean and modern, and it has a nice long bar in the front which would be great for drinks.  They start off the meal with complimentary pate mousse to spread on thin pieces of toast.  This was absolutely delicious.  Next came complimentary popovers for each person, basically a pastry puff with cheese in the dough.  Delicious, but probably loaded with calories.

    This is what I ordered:
Appetizer: tuna tartare – fresh and well balanced with avocado and soy sauce.
Main: NY Strip – somewhat disappointing, and reason why I'm torn between a 3 and a 4.  The steak comes out in a cast iron which I think further cooked the meat.  So even though I ordered medium rare, it was almost medium. It was tasty, but not the best strip I've ever had.
Sides: brussel  sprouts were good, mash potatoes were standard, hen of woods mushrooms were great.
Drinks: was drinking manhattans all night, perfect.

Service was great and overall experience was very good.  The place is pretty pricey though, a bit more than your normal NY steakhouse.   The place had a lot of highs but the steak, the most important element, was slightly underwhelming.

  8. BLT – Bacon Lettuce and Tomato steak? A very unusual name for a steakhouse, but my wife wanted to try this place since she likes to investigate funny and odd things, that's how she met me!

We had a 830pm reservation for a Saturday evening, but still had to wait 30 minutes for a table. We checked our coats in and waited by the bar area. When we were finally seated I noticed the smaller cozier tables for two are spaced very close together, since it was already past 900pm the room was opening up and I noticed they skipped a table when seating couples, but when this place is packed, you are literally going to be on top of each other.

We were greeted by "Holly" our server who was very friendly and immediately told us there were certain items the kitchen ran out of and took our drink orders.  Now BLT is famous for their complimentary "Popovers" Do yourself a favor, unless youre really hungry the popovers are plenty as an appetizer. They are so addictively scrumptious it literally is difficult to put down! The popovers are made with gruyere cheese and once you break open that outer shell and get that whiff of steam from the popover, it's all over, you end up filling yourself on this bread.

As an appetizer we did order the bacon, but the bacon was a little too fat and chewy. The slices were very thin compared to other steakhouses.  We ordered the 28 day aged porterhouse for 2 cooked medium with a side of creamed spinach and potato skins.  The sides were smaller than I expected, the sides were OK.

The steak arrived and looked delicious, now it was a good steak, but not a great steak in my opinion. There are better options out there for a Great steak at this price point. At the end of the meal they gave us some petit fours which were light and satisfying. We were so full that ordering dessert would had been a chore to eat and not gratifying, though I was tempted on several occasions. My excuse to cleanse our palettes with a crepe fell on deaf ears.

When the bill finally arrived, we noticed $26 dollars in drinks were added to our bill which we did not consume. Our server Holly quickly rectified the situation and apologized for the mix up. Remember, always check your bill carefully.

In summary, a good place to have a steak, but for the price you pay here, you can go to other steakhouses to have a better steak for the same price.
