Blue Ribbon Bakery is a tiny hole in the wall Filipino bakery and "Turo Turo" restaurant in the less than desirable Rt 440 corridor area but still manages to produce some excellent baked goods like a light and airy Pan de Sal stuffed with savory corned beef….more Brioche than Pan this delicacy is a thing of beauty as is pretty much all of their baked goods.
To expand….Blue Ribbon's baked offerings show a certain refinement.lightness and expertise usually found in some of the best bakeries in Manhattan and pleasantly surprising for a tiny Pinoy joint hard off the 440.
The popular lunch special of rice and two from a compact but very fresh and flavorful selection of Filipino favorites….{say that 3 times fast} is an excellent deal and the tiny dining room fills up fast.
I had the Sisig and was inspired to attempt making their version even after tasting this dish from JC to Paranaque… crisp and tart with a fatty but clean bite their Sisig is my very favorite.
Parking is a bitch if the spaces is filled up on the hill but I urge you to visit…. it's good …very good.
First visit to this place. It's your typical Filipino turo turo spot. It's small but has a decent amount of seating. We ordered lomi and some other things to go. I can only speak to the lomi because it was the only dish I ate there. Flavor wise, it's ok. Like many Filipino dishes, it's their own variation. It had udon noodles , some of which was kind of on the smooshy side. It really didn't blow me away. I did try the corned beef pan de sal at home. Flavor wise, it was tasty. Buuuut, it was mostly bread and not much meat filling. Would I come again? Dunno to be honest. Maybe for the silog dishes?? The service is nice and main person behind the counter was friendly.
Good local eatery for some comforting breakfast. Had the longsilog, which included 2 longanisa (Filipino sausage), eggs over easy, and garlic rice – filling and hearty. Compared to the other Filipino eateries in the area, this one is smaller, and has less selection from the a la carte menu, but has the standard breakfasts including Filipino sausage, sauteed beef, and fish belly.
