  1. I love these dumplings. Went here for weekday lunch and nobody was here! Score.

    – They give each person a complimentary hot and sour soup.
    – I like their spacious seats.
    – Squid ink dumplings! You know, those black un-photogenic ones you see on the pics.
    – We had their sea cucumber dumplings (fried) – they were perfectly seared on one side and give you a big piece of sea cucumber inside.

    Will come back fo sho.

  2. Dumplings are pretty much the best thing here.

To start, my friends got the Minced Garlic Cucumbers and the Spicy Beef and Tripe. I really had a problem with the Minced Garlic Cucumbers. Every piece was cut very unevenly that it makes it hard to pick up and eat. I typically don't pay attention to presentation but when there are pieces with different sizes. Taste wise, garlic taste was overpowering. Spicy Beef and Tripe was a too oily for my taste… so oily that it was dripping. I did like the heat of this dish though.

For dumplings, we had their infamous Squid Ink Fish, Fish, Vegetables, Lamb, and Pork with Chives. My favorites had to be the fish dumplings, it was full of filling and the pan-fried vegetable dumplings, it was crispy on the outside and healthy tasting on the inside. Pork with Chives is always good.

In addition, we got we got entrees to accompany our meal. We we got the Sizzling Black Pepper Beef. I really liked the flavor and the meat was tender. Just the perfect companion to our rice. We also got the Chicken Cutlet with Garlic. This was a very plain dish but meat was tender. Some pieces I had was just flour. Pan-Fried Lamb Chops, this was an alright dish. Nothing special.

Not bad for a dinner experience but I'll stick to my $1.00 dumplings instead.

  3. Tonight my group popped our cherries at Boat Song lol

One of my friend made a reservation through Yelp which only takes up to 6 people but we had a group of 8 so I let the staff know. I don't think that they even acknowledge the Yelp reservation to be honest. We sat at a round table in our own corner so we are just into our own conversations.

Of course the server brings a plate of complimentary peanuts which freaks me out as I am the only one that's allergic to it.

    Dumpling:
Chef Special Squid Dumpling + Sweet & Sour Soup – ooooo this was my favorite even though I think I tasted some cilantro in the filling

House Special Fish Dumpling + Soup – this was eh

Pork Dumpling + Soup – oooooo I really that this one

Pan-Fried Lamb Dumpling + Soup – oooooo I never had lamb meat in a dumpling but very tasty

Pan-Fried Vegetable Dumpling + Soup – didn't try this one as I am not a fan of a vegetables filling

Entree – comes with a free bowl of white rice *make sure you indicate about you want the rice*

Cucumber Salad with Minced Garlic – nothing special as I eat it all the time at home but it was a lot on the plate for a cold appetizer

Beef and Ox Tripes in Chili Sauce – wasn't able to try it because it was bedded on top of peanuts which I am super duper allergic

Gourmet Chicken Cutlet with Garlic – the texture is yummy but bland if you don't dip in the garlic salt on the side of the basket

Pan Fried Lamb Chops with Basil – ooooooooooooooo this was so tasty and very flavorful

Pan Fried Slices of Beef (not sure the actual name since its not listed on the take-home menu) – very tender beef and delicious with the onions, peppers and etc

Thanks to the staff for taking care of us and we were such a loud group =P

Definitely come by and try the yummy dumplings =)

  4. I came here with my yelp friends. The place is spacious & clean. Servers are very nice & friendly but kinda hard to communicate because they don't really speak english but thank goodness one of our friend Anna H. know how to speak mandarin & makes everything much easier.

They give complimentary peanut which is perfect while waiting for our food.

For drink I got sweet vanilla soybean milk- its really sweet & creamy. I like it.

    Appetizer:
Beef & ox tripes- it is good but very salty & spicy.
Cucumber salad with garlic- Crispy cucumber & garlicy sauce made it good but with a strong kick flavor.

    Food:
*Vegestable dumpling- not so great. It was alright.
*Pan fried lamb dumpling- mg first time eating lamb dumbling & I'm not really a fan of lamb but this one is tasty & I don't like the smell of the the lamb & glad this one I didn't smell anything.
*pork dumpling- duhh!! Of course its yummy! Safer dumpling to order. You can't go wrong with pork.
*house special fish dumpling & chef special squid dumpling- both of this are tasty!
*Pan fried lamb chops- meat is very tender & flavorful sauce! As what I said I'm not a fan of lamb because of its smell but this one is good without any smell. Yummy!
*Chicken cutlet with garlic- crispy breaded chicken thats very garlicy. Taste good but nothing special.
*Pan fried beef- full of flavors & meat is juicy.

Our friend brought us some yummy cheesecake from a different place & server here are so nice to let us eat it there & they also gave us utensils that we need for the cheesecake.

I'm happy & satisfied with the service & food!
    Great dinner indeed!

  5. I say it was more of a 3.5. It's a fairly new restaurant in the Grand Hyatt complex and my group was interested in trying it since they are famous for their squid ink dumplings. The place is a comfortable size and the layout was clean and welcoming. In terms of their food, I was a lot happier with the entrees than the apps.

    The food:

Chef Special Squid Dumpling+Soup- This is their famous dumpling and I enjoyed the filling, the dough was kind of lackluster, though. It kinda just tasted liked boiled dumplings a mom would make. yelp.com/user_local_phot…

House Special Fish Dumpling+Soup- This one was OK but kinda plain. The fish filling was not bad.

Pan-Fried Lamb Dumplings-  This was good, this was one of the popular items of the night. The lamb had good flavor but there was a gaminess that would bother some but I enjoyed it. yelp.com/user_local_phot…

Sizzling Black Pepper Beef- This was another good dish, I liked the flavor and the beef was really crazy tender. I would get this again. yelp.com/user_local_phot…

Pan-Fried Lamb Chops w. Basil- The lamb chops had good flavor but weren't that exciting. It was a good dish but very straightforward. yelp.com/user_local_phot…

Gourmet Chicken Cutlet w. Garlic- I thought this was pretty good, but you have to dip the chicken in the table side seasoning since it does come off plain if you don't dip. I liked the flavor of the chicken but I wish it was more crispy but it was super tender and not greasy at all, which was a plus. yelp.com/user_local_phot…

Pan-Fried Vegetable Dumplings- The veg dumpling was just OK, the dough was so so but I wasn't all that crazy about the filling. yelp.com/user_local_phot…

Boiled Pork Dumpling- This wasn't bad, but it tasted like something you would make at home. yelp.com/user_local_phot…

Beef and Ox Tripe in Chili Sauce- I am normally a big fan of this dish but the one here could be tweaked. I thought the tripe wasn't cooked down enough but the bigger issue was the dish came off very salty.

Cucumber Salad w. Minced Garlic- I did not like this dish at all, the seasoning on the cucumber was super strong and garlicky

  6. I've been here three times before the weather got hot, and my experiences have been awesome. Food wise, my favorite dishes are the fish dumplings: they're soft in texture and savory. The hot soybean milk is worth the three dollars and a quarter you pay for it: the soy flavor is intense, and it's so different from soymilk that's produced here in the US. Boat Song does soymilk right!
The seafood blotch soup was a great antidote too for when I came down with a cold, but the dish is meant for 5+ people, so no wonder why I couldn't finish it all!

Most of the seating is booth seating and is near the glass windows, which I've enjoyed. I've found the staff workers to be really friendly and attentive. I don't think I'll be back here soon since it's summer and hot food is their specialty, but when the weather gets cooler I'll be back!
