  1. It's was pretty darn good but I was pretty darn hungry lol. The staff is super nice the inside space is super small. They didn't have a full bar when I went but they did have gin for some reason. They do have a HUGE outdoor seating area (weather permitting). I got the the chicken sandwich which was crispy and YUM!! I have had better but it was pretty good. Wouldn't go super out of my way to dine here but if you're in the area craving some fried chicken this is the perfect place!

  2. The original Bobwhite is a solid 5 stars, but this one seemed like it was missing something so far.

They were literally missing the Fried Chicken Breast option, with Chicken Tenders in its place, which were not nearly as good. The Fried Chicken Sandwich seemed like it was about half the size of the one I just got a few weeks ago from the original location.

The other thing that's strange about this location is that the vibe seemed almost like it was trying to be romantic/too classy, with low lighting, high stools and all side-by-side seating. It doesn't fit as expected with this type of food, and it feels a lot less casual than the original spot.

The chicken here is still pretty awesome though, so I'll probably be back again soon and maybe things will get better.

  3. So happy this place opened up since the Avenue C location is ridiculously far away and offers up some of the best fried chicken in the city. This particular spot is extremely small (counter indeed), though offering up some of the same plates/sandwiches as it's first outpost.

Only one group of 3, and another single person ahead of me in line. I ordered a sandwich, fries, mac/cheese, ginger ale for takeout, and a beer (total $20). Waiter and cooks seem to not be on the same page – they were constantly debating tickets and bringing food very slowly. One table was waiting for their food inside and they brought out each dish one by one several minutes apart (that must have been annoying). Finished my beer at the counter and nothing for 20ish minutes, waiter doesn't ask if I want any water (no one's really coming in at this point). 38 minutes in and the guy who ordered right before me finally gets his meal (still didn't get any water or any indication the waiter knew I existed).

Finally got my food about 40ish minutes in and they forget my mac and cheese. I told him about it and he said I didn't pay for it and he didn't hear me (I told him twice, maybe he should write it down next time). If they needed reminders on these things, maybe print out receipts that tell you what you ordered, just saying. In any case, I got no apology – simply an attitude. So I cancelled the mac and left.

Sandwich was good, fries were okay. I probably would have enjoyed it better if the service wasn't such a shit show. It's not THAT busy guys, come on. Wish this spot was like the Alphabet City location, oh well, not coming back.

  4. Classic fried chicken with coleslaw and a biscuit ($11) – chicken was definitely cooked in a pressure cooker, is a good thing. The meat was juicy and with a crispy skin. It was tasty. The biscuit had right amount of salt and flakiness that was very nice. What I enjoyed the most was the simple side, coleslaw, It was lacked in salt but after I added some salt, it became really tasty coleslaw. My (Irish-American) husband still loves fried chickens from Chick-fil-A. To me, CFA chicken crust to be too salty. I would try it some Yelpers choice, grilled chicken, next time.

Delivery was not up to par (yet), even to a 3 minutes walk – we waited almost an hour to get our order that was quickly delivered to us after we called for it. It took about 10 minutes after – I believe they forgot our order and rushed after we called in. Well, they just opened several months ago so I will wait for a while to oder from them again.

  5. 3.5 Stars

Very casual, there's a small bar with stools, and one high-top table inside (along with the kitchen.) Other than that, seating was outside (with a barrier between tables and sidewalk.)

Pretty small menu, mostly fried chicken, sandwiches (fried chicken sandwich, catfish sandwich) farmhouse salad, some sides (mac and cheese, fried okra, collard greens, onion rings), and cocktails.

The food was decent, not the best, very simple and low-key. It came out quickly but was lukewarm, not hot.

The collard greens were good, cooked with sliced sausage, simple taste.

The fried chicken was decent, the skin was crisp and dry, and meat was moist not dry.

The sweet tea was ok, I've had better.

Best option is probably to come here for $5 fried chicken and beer M-F 3-6pm.

(Server was nice and busy, wandering around in a t-shirt and sweats. It is called lunchcounter!)

  6. While this West Side outpost doesn't have the charm of the East Village loc. It does bring some Southern spice and another reasonably priced dining option to the West Village,
I went healthy with a big salad with grilled chicken and a side of collards. It was hard to pass up some fine fried chicken, but I enjoyed the juicy grilled chicken and my salad. The rip roaring collards with pork were mighty fine and so happy Bob White's on the West Side.

  7. *Prince Rogers Nelson remix part three, rated G just for you Gyna.*

    Sangwiches:

The grilled cheese with collards was pretty damn good & a tad spicy. I normally wouldn't order something like this at a place that specializes in fried chicken, but I try and eat meat only 3 days a week, so this had to happen on a visit. I'm glad it did because It was a great alternative. 4 stars.

The buffalo chicken Sammy wasn't at all hot, but it was nicely spiced. Juicy and crispy, it has a higher quality taste and is filling even without fries. 3 stars.

    The 3 pc dark:

Tiny, moist and crispy. It was a tad greasy and under seasoned for my taste. That said, it's solid. I'm pretty sure it was brined. The flavor of chicken is of superior quality, but it just left me wanting a little something extra. The hot sauce that came with wasn't it. They are smaller then your fast food fried chicken (size doesn't matter here, ladies), but that's probably because it's a better quality of bird. Get the fries if you're really hungry, otherwise the slaw is a great pairing. $10. 3 stars.

    Sides:

The slaw was some of the finest I've eaten. It's refreshing and sweet, like me. 4 stars.

The fried okra is steep at 5.75$ but it's very good. It's enough for sharing, or for you greedy fat bastards, one will satisfy. Fo stars.

The biscuit was moist in the very middle, but dry everywhere else. I'd prefer it buttery and rich throughout, because if you're gonna eat a biscuit it should be that and by that, I mean made from lard or some kind of fat where it sends your heart to DEFCON 4. Listen, I'm not eating this everyday, so when it's time to go all in, I want the most unhealthy version of it, period. My hands should immediately be greasy even before I touch it, that's how buttery I want it. 2 stars.

At the end of the day (my fav Love & Hip Hop overused expression ) :

This spot is a nice addition to the area and is not busy at all during the weekly lunch hour, which is the only times I've eaten here. Sitting outside is a bonus, but not during rush hour when it's a shit show on 7th. I like the quaint, tiny space and bar, but I wouldn't want to come here for HH. Overall, it's really a 3.5 star kind of place and only for lunch or takeout for me. I'd never eat here for dinner.

It's not mind blowing chicken; it's a solid choice, though. $10 isn't a bad deal for the platter, considering what you're getting and the hood it's in. The chicken isn't as good as Blue Ribbon and they don't have a full bar, but I'd come back if I'm in this area but for lunch only and only if Blue Ribbon is too busy.

  8. Food's decent, but just about everything else is lacking, especially the service. And I mean really lacking. Sort of similar to the original Alphabet City location. Yikes. We were seated outside on a nice day, which made it infinitely more comfortable, but it was still pretty cramped. The inside is tiny, but even at the table we were sitting at outside, the tables beside us kept bumping into our chairs. Not ideal.

We ordered the Chicken Little (drumstick, wing, thigh, with biscuit and coleslaw), and the buffalo chicken sandwich with fries. Fried chicken was pretty great, and the coleslaw was decent. The buffalo chicken sandwich was flavorful, and had some good crunchiness. Fries were very unique, not quite steak fries, but not quite like the normal handcut fries, but still pretty crisp.

But alas, the service. We waited 40 minutes for our food, while watching other parties who had been seated after us receive their food, and our server was incredibly nonchalant about it. We finally got our food, and we still had to wait about 10 more minutes for the biscuits to come out. Nonetheless, this is all moot if the server just apologizes. Nope. It's really just a shame. Prices are reasonable, although it's a bit much for lunch.

Not inclined to recommend this new Bobwhite location because of the incredibly disaffected service, even though the chicken is still pretty solid. Quite a shame. I would make it out to Blue Ribbon or even Hill Country Chicken, if you're looking for a casual place for fried poultry.
