very solid food, will do a full revieew another time
Beef Embcollado
This time:
Batdio de Morro: Morro means blackberry. Good flavor but you can't go wrong with this.
Arepa con Queso Naranja: He had this as an appetizer, good portion, the arepas were good. Might have preffered the queso blanco as it was not sour enough with orange.
Bandeja Paisa: Basically, the dominican plate special, came with a whole lot of food
red beans cooked with pork, white rice, beef, chicharon (fried pork skin), fried egg, sweet plantain, chorizo, white arepa, hogao sauce, avocado, lemon, tomato, orange.
The chicharon was good but not amazing. The beef was excellent with good flavoring. White arepa was a bit too hard. Chorizo was nicely spicy but nothing special. Rest of it was fine.
Camarones de Ajilo
Sauce was very good. Shrimps were fine also. Great portion.
3.5/5, closer to a 4 than a 3.
Pretty good Colombian food with really good lunch special options. I think Calle de Colombia down the street packs a bit more of a flavor punch, but I've only tried one dish so far. We'll be checking this place out again.
What a pleasant surprise! When we walked in I did not expect the restaurant to be so clean and well designed. The eating area is also a nice size.
My wife and I were seated right away…there were about 6 tables taken. The waiters were very friendly and attentive. Service 5 stars. We got a guacamole app..it was good but not the best 3 stars. However if i would of known the amount of food they give for entrees we would have never ordered a app. I got the Columbian Platter…WOW i posted a picture. It was so delicious and perfectly cooked. My wife got the avocado salad with shrimp. They loaded it with very fresh avocado and there was about 6 decent sized shrimps. She loved it. Nicely portioned. Food 5 stars. I would have given it more if i can.
Lasting impressions: this is a can't miss place. The prices are amazing the food is outstanding and the service attentive. A MUST TRY if you are in the mood for some authentic Mexican, Columbia, Spanish food
. We will most definitely be back soon. This will be our new spot when we are craving a well cooked authentic resturant with great staff and comfortable ambiance. We will see you soon!
I wanted yuca fries. This place has yuca fries. My coworkers and I stopped by after a work meeting for a quick bite. I ordered yuca fries, a beef empanada, and an arepa blanca con queso.
The yuca fries and arepa are made to order I think, because they came out much later than my empanada which was taken from the heated display case. The empanada was alright, kinda small for $1.50, I've had better. The yuca fries were very good. They were cut thin and very crispy, cooking the starchiness out of it. The arepa was filling as hell. A bit too much butter/oil, but if you're looking to be really full for really cheap, grab one of the arepas.
This was my first time here and I was happy to go. Not far from my school a few classmates and I decided to come here. I was invited and they had been here before so I knew they wouldn't steer me wrong. Located on Main Street in Hackensack (not too far down from the court house) you will have to pay for metered parking. On this day, it wasn't too bad due to the weather being rainy, so we found a good spot just a few feet away.
I entered the establishment and took note how there was no real bar (a small area really used to control the music, do take out orders, and refrigerator filled with various juices and sodas), and the decent size of the establishment. It wasn't busy and on this particular day there was no lunch rush. We sat down, and I was amazed at how many options the menu offered. The pricing was even more impressive. I ended up deciding to get the bistec encebollado with white rice and red beans (no soup for me today). It was magnificent. The steak was nice and tender, not dry, the onions were cooked to perfection, garnished with a little cilantro, the rice was cooked perfect, and the beans were delectable. I finished off my meal with a homemade slice of chilled Tres Leches. Presented on a plate of various sweet milks, drizzled chocolate, whip cream, the cake just melted in my mouth.
For all of what I ordered and my friends the bill came to less than $50.00.
Lets just say it was money well spent and I recommend that anyone who decides to stop in will not be disappointed
I came here for lunch with some coworkers. First, there were plenty of seats, which is always welcomed and they have a lunch menu ($7 without soup, $8.75 with soup).
I got the chicken stew with rice and beans. It was delicious and thankfully, it was dark meat (my preferred choice).
It cost me $7 (no soup because the portions are huge here) and I brought home half of it! It literally became two meals for me!
The staff is super friendly and attentive. We were in and out within our one hour allotted time from work.
Also, the music is pumping in here! My colleagues and I were dancing away (eyes closed and happily swaying) while there.
Though I date a Colombian myself, I don't know how authentic this place is. But either way, it's pretty good and especially for the price! Would definitely return.
Cheap and good lunch special. The portion is generous and you get a nice variety of side dishes. I still prefer Villa de Colombia for a better quality Colombian food.
