  1. One of the few and better hot food options on MealPass. The lentil bowl is made on the spot with minimal wait. Flavors are hearty and the hot sauce can get really hot. Apple pickle is a good idea. Overall not too different from any other Indian restaurant except that it's quick, vegan and relatively healthy. But they do use milk in some of the drinks. Space is tiny so definitely do take out.

  2. Was looking for a place to have a quick lunch by myself and I'm glad I stopped by. The place is small with seating along the windows but there is a big public outdoor area for people to eat and sit. A lot of people who came in seem to be on lunch break around the area and ordered to go. The service is quick and most people received their order within five minutes.

I've always wanted to try the Honey Fennel Grilled Cheese Sandwich but instead, I ordered the Chana Masala Bowl after I saw everyone get the same and a small Cardamom Coffee. I waited for a few minutes and my name was called, but they forgot to give me my drink.

The bowl was surprisingly very filling and I even saved half for later. The chickpea stew was very well seasoned and I love the heat from the hot sauce. The apple garlic pickle was very fresh as well. As for the Cardamom Coffee, I'm not the biggest fan.

I will be coming back for the grilled cheese and bowl again!

  3. Ayurvedic Soul Food! So happy to have found these guys at Smorgasburg today…reminiscent of my favorite spot in New Orleans – Good Karma Cafe. I had the platter which included Kale salad with pickled veggies, Sweet Potato mash and Chana Masala over rice. So good, it was my perfect dream meal, I scraped the plate clean. I SO LOVE delicious Vegan food and am so incredibly grateful to have eaten this yummy food today!!

  4. Hands down, my favorite Bombay sandwich (which I often find myself craving) is the Kale & Sweet Potato Wrap. Both vegan and delicious, it contains "marinated kale, beets, carrots & cabbage with sweet potato, dried cranberries, fresh ginger & carom seed, with date chutney in a whole-wheat rollup wrap." The portion size is big enough to warrant the price – $7.99, which isn't even expensive for New York standards. Plus, the ingredients ensure you'll be full and satisfied afterwards.

I first tried the wrap at the Williamsburg Smorgasburg last summer, and upon taking my first bite, was instantly hit with a burst of flavor, especially the tartness of the cranberries and the sweetness of the (homemade) date chutney.

I've also had the Organic Tofu Wrap ($8.27), which is vegan as well, and consists of "mixed greens with organic tofu, fennel, fenugreek, onion seeds, tomato, cabbage & brown rice with date chutney in a whole-wheat rollup wrap." It wasn't bad, but it just didn't do it for me. It has a unique taste that's difficult to describe, and is certainly stronger than some of Bombay's other sandwiches.

Still, I'm looking forward to sampling more of their menu, particularly the salads and bowls. And of course, I'll be returning regularly for the Kale & Sweet Potato Wrap!

  5. Food was 5 Star worthy. Fresh, delicious, incredibly filling and satisfying if you're looking for something that won't weigh you down.

My friend and I split a platter and it was perfect for just us two.

If I worked in the area, I would be a frequent customer.

That said, service was rather sub-par. The Masala Chai was housed in a giant plastic container, and the chick behind the register didn't seem to comprehend why it wasn't hot anymore after sitting in there ALL DAY. Additionally, some homeless guy came in and offered to clean up after my friend and I, and same girl seemed to be lost on her phone.

Wouldn't eat IN again, but definitely eat from here.

  6. Very overpriced but hey that's vegan food for you. Had the kale salad with added goat cheese (which I highly recommend if you get this salad). Quinoa was cooked to perfection. Idk just wasn't better than the salad at Sweet Green or Taim or anything like that so that's why I'm only giving it 3 stars.

  7. Had a great Chana Masala sandwich ($8.50) and a coconut/nut/raisin/chia seed ball ($1.50) here for lunch today. The line was not too long at 12:30 and while it took 10-15 minutes to get my sandwich, I felt as the the wait time was warranted (there were plenty of hot dishes being prepared ahead of mine).

We ate outside in the courtyard which is a wonderful perk because the store is thin and the seating is bar-like against the window. Perfect for a solo traveler, not ideal for a lunch date.

The food was delicious, flavorful, and filling. I was very impressed with this restaurant. I will definitely come back.

  8. Went to this delightful small shop. I had the "KALE-PESTO GRILLED CHEESE," $8.73. It has feta & fresh mozzarella melted with homemade kale-walnut pesto, tomato and black pepper, Grilled in 7 Grain Bread. It was delicious.

I also had a cup of their "VEGGIE LENTIL SOUP", $4.96. It's homemade soup server with a slice of 7 grain bread.

To warm my bones on the go, I got a cup of their "MASALA CHAI". It's $2.76 for the small and $3.67 for the large. It's a combination of brewed milk tea with fresh ginger and spices. It was very good. Personally I love chai that burns horribly on the way down so this was not the best chai I've ever had but very close.

Overall a great little place for lunch for vegetarians.
