  1. I've only been here once, and that being during a quiet lunch time, so this review is subject to change.

Bonchon is located a few blocks from the Grove St Path station, on a block that has a produce grocery store, restaurants and more.

    Key highlights:
    – there is a $10 minimum and no ATM at the store. Plan accordingly
    – they make everything "fresh" – meaning nothing is sitting around for quick takeout
    – wait time for 6 breast strips is ~10mins, 20 for wings and 25 for drum sticks
    – lunch special is $6-10, which includes a primary item, soda/water and a side (kimchi, rice or pickled radish)
-Cashier didn't seem too confident in explaining the options

I got the bulgogi wrap and 6 strips of hot and spicy variety. The wrap is light on meat and had a lot of kimchi and lettuce. I personally could've used more Flavor in the sauces/meat seasoning. The breast strips were very hot (temperature) and the sauce was not too sloppy. I could taste the spices, and my mouth was lightly hot, but it could've been better. Kimchi coleslaw was good, likely kimchi sauce blended in coleslaw. I enjoyed it though. All of this was about $15, which was fairly priced.

  2. Great fried chicken and great service. I didn't dine in at the restaurant, I ordered pick up on Football Sunday. Wanted to eat some delicious fried chicken while watching grown men tackle each other. I ordered a combo off the menu, 10 wings and 5 drumsticks with half spicy/half garlic sauce.

I waited about 15 minutes before leaving my apartment. It takes me approx 8-10 minutes to walk to Bon Chon. Once I got there, I picked up my order and walked back home. Unfortunately, when I got home, I realized that they forgot to give me my side of rice. I needed my side of rice. I always have a side of rice with my fried chicken. I decided to walk back to get it. The guys working at the counter were so nice about it. They realized that they forgot to put it in my bag and offered to give me a side for free. What sweet guys! I ended up with another side of rice (as you can tell by now, I love rice) and I was on my way home.

The fried chicken is amazing and is on par with other Bon Chon locations. Admittingly, this place doesn't look like the Bon Chons you'll see in the city. This place is more take-out, less glamour, upscale restaurant feel some of the New York locations have. Overall, tasty good and awesome service! Will be back again!

  3. Finally got my chicken – yummy as usual.

They have a sign up inside now that says: 25 minute wait for drumsticks, 20 minutes for wings, 10 for everything else.

I'd say call ahead to be safe, even if you're eating in!

  4. Korean twice fried chicken. Mmmm.

I've been to a super swanky Bonchon in NoVa that is sadly no more but one thing I have learned from that is: you are gonna wait for those drumsticks. They are worth it.

It is a tiny location, the menu is limited, the chicken is very good, from the legs to the strips. If you need a little something more, the zucchini fries are a pretty good side. We always manage to order way too much chicken for two people, so we'll usually bring along a friend.

You can't go wrong with either sauce (Soy Garlic and Hot) and I do suggest eating the chicken there as opposed to taking it home first, but that could be just me. I want that chicken the minute it's ready. Not much else to say about this place…it's not your typical cheap fast food chicken; I don't know why anyone would expect that here!

  5. Although this one may have been the first of the Korean style chicken places, they are stuck behind the times and will most likely lose half their customers to Kyo Chon and places similar due to their refusal to offer a 'grilled' option when everyone else does.

Everything Bon Chon has on the menu is death to your arteries – with no exceptions.

Kyo Chon has awesome grilled soy garlic wings that blow Bon Chons deep fried, heart attack wings out of the water for both health reasons as well as pure flavor.

I asked them to do grilled option and they blew me off.

    Never going back. Ever.

  6. I've always liked this chain. I usually just opt for the combo with both of their flavors (spicy and soy garlic) when ordering from any of their locations. This is the first time I've ordered from this location and I gotta say that the delivery and the food were all pretty good. I'd definitely recommend this place if you've got a hankering for some Korean fried chicken (especially if you want a lazy day in where delivery is the only thing you won't compromise on).

  7. I love Bonchon. The first time I tried it was 4 years ago in NYC but I wasn't as impressed as I was with this location! My boyfriend and I split the 10pc chicken strips with half soy garlic sauce and half spicy sauce. Both flavors were delicious but I liked the kick better of the spicy sauce. We also split the Bulgogi Bonchon wrap which was okay but I think the strips or wings have a better flavor. The ranch dressing makes the wrap bland, unfortunately. Maybe they should try different sauces. For a side we ordered the onion rings and they were also delicious. The fry batter they use is very light and the chicken and nice and thin so everything is tender and crispy. The onion ring side is huge. We thought it might not be enough but by the end we were so full and we were just able to finish the meal. The prices are cheap and the quality of the meat is great.

  8. Ordered for a large party takeout here and the service was quick and smooth.

I had both flavors and the chicken had a beautiful crisp and great taste. Definitely will continue ordering from here.
