Korean fried chicken is by far the best chicken I have ever tasted and it is extremely addictive and should come with a warning label. Extremely crispy skin with tender juicy chicken on the inside that doesn't taste greasy at all. They have the option of mild or spicy or you can choose to do half and half. When ordering the spicy make sure you get the pickled radish on the side to help cool your pallet.
I recently found out that there is a BonChon location close to where I work so a couple of my coworkers and I decided to go pick some up for lunch. We placed our order and it took about 30 mins to cook and prepare so be aware of the wait. The parking in this area can be a bit tricky but with patience you can find a spot. The location itself is pretty large with many tables to sit and a few TV's to watch as you wait for your order. The sides that we got (steak fries & sweet potato fries) weren't that good. I really like the fries from boom boom chicken better but I'm here for chicken not the sides over all.
** be aware that the prices on the website are not the same as in-store for some reason and I told the woman behind the counter about it.
I've tried so many different places for fried chicken in general and when it comes to Korean Fried Chicken, Bonchon is certainly on the top three of my favorite korean fried chicken place.
Pros:
Obviously, the chicken wings are so damn crispy you could eat twenty of them since they are somewhat on the smaller size, which is a good thing.
I usually get the soy garlic, since the spicy it's somewhat too spicy for me. But it's probably just me.
Service is consistent, I went here on friday night for chicken wing run, it's somewhat more of a family oriented establishment.
I say that because when we got there, we asked the lady if we're allowed to bring beer, she said yes. So, like a fool I bought two-six packs right down the road so that I could drink beer and eat chicken wings. It was quiet when I first got there, all the sudden there's rush of at least three families (with kids, lots of kids) came in.
It felt awkard for a second, but I couldn't stop since the wings and beers were so good.
Cons:
On a normal day, bringing outside drinks are not allowed. They sell the normal line up of drinks, sodas, juices, water, etc…No booze allowed, so make sure you ask ahead before bringing booze.
Got hooked on Bonchon in NYC and wanted to find a joint in Jersey. What better place to look than one of the Jersey k-towns?
Crisp, juicy, tender, tangy, savory, spicy are only some of the adjectives that can begin to describe Korean fried chicken. As someone else mentioned, the pickled radishes are clutch and my (also Asian female) friend and I spent a good hour finishing like 5 wings each because they were so spicy.
Street parking. We walked for like 10 minutes in the pouring rain to get here, but so so worth it.
It seems a lot of these Korean fried chicken (hereto referred as KFC) places tend to only offer 2 flavors, Spicy and Soy Garlic for those who don't like spice. The same two options offered at NY Wing Factory, another KFC. Don't come here for Honey BBQ or other variants, you won't find them here. I don't know why there isn't more variety on the menus. Other KFC joints like BBQ Chicken in Fort Lee are able to offer more options. That said, the chicken is good and prices are fair.
The limited flavors and the fact that they don't deliver prevents me from giving this place 5 stars though.
This BonChon location is one of a kind. I came for a weeknight dinner and it looked seemingly not so busy. But the orders that came in were mostly phone orders (call-ahead for pick-up). We waited for ~30 minutes for a 10 strips combo, ended up not getting the sour radish though the order-taker said it comes with our order for free.
The chicken is still as great as it can get, but maybe we'll call for pick-up next time
KOREAN FRIED CHICKEN!!!!! Oh My GOD the best tasting chicken on earth!! So unbelievably crispy, juicy, tender, flavorful, spicy, all in one bite. To cool your mouth down, they serve pickled radishes and trust me it helps.
Have patience since it does take time. It usually takes 20-30mins before you start enjoying that delicious hunk of chicken. Your mouth will water, at least mine always does.
Wish I lived closer because this place is a true gem. They recently expanded there menu and I'm so glad they did since I love me some Japchae.
There are tons of seating and a TV to watch while you wait. Service consists of a young lady bringing over your food and cleaning it afterwards since there are no garbage cans out. Have an open wallet, this beauty isn't cheap but hella worth it!!

I never really get mad when I order food to go… But when I call ahead of time, knowing that the food takes up to 30 minutes to make, get there, and the lady tells me "there is no pick up order and maybe you called the other location" (Nope, I showed her on my call list that I called this location)… I will definitely be pissed. And I was.. I was pissed and hungry and wasted my sweet time for nothing. So my brother and I angrily stormed out, and ordered food elsewhere. So my brother and I are on our way to pick up food somewhere else, and guess who calls? That grumpy, rude lady that said that there were no pick up order. She said that she saw it in the kitchen. Wow. To add insult to injury, the prices on the website are different from what they charged me, and I got nothing but 2 cans of soda for their mistake. We called at 3:40… Got there at 4. Got rejected and went somewhere else to get food… Got a call at 4:30 about our food being ready… Got there at 5 because we had to go all the way back to pick up the wings… And ate (finally) by 5:30.
I am never wasting my time here, ever, ever again.
Food: 4.5. Was surprised how good the chicken tasted and the soy garlic sauce made them taste even better.
Service-2 Waited several minutes to put our order in, thought the clerk was ignoring us. It got so bad, other people behind me tried cutting the line. We were told we were getting pickled radish on the house, but we never got them. Also was not aware of the long wait times. Do not dine in if youre in a rush. Waited at least 20 minutes for our food. Always call in.
Its one of the rare places that the prices include tax, so thats cool but the service has to shape up. Hopefully my next bonchon at a different location will be much better.
