  1. It's a cute, simple local bakery located in forest hills. After having brunch at Jack & Nellie's I spotted this place across the street and decided to check out the place. Everything is made on premises and everything looked so delicious. They have a variety of pastries and treats to pick from. I picked up a few rainbow cookies here. They were good, but no comparison to Veniero's rainbow cookies (but I'm just being biased here). I would definitely come back here to pick up treats for friends and family to try next time.

  2. people who like animals will go to shelters to look at puppies and kittens awaiting rescue from a glass enclosure…and people who like to eat will go to bakeries to look at pastries and cookies awaiting rescue from a glass enclosure!

Bonelle is an little old-school bakery serving a mix of American and European goodies: croissants, cookies, cakes, and all other sorts of sweets are arrayed out. with maybe a handful of chairs and small tables, and a plain sign up front, it's simple, but it works.

as I was en route to visit family in Brooklyn, I got a mix of cookies. $16/pound – a little pricey but my fellow Yelpers' comments told me it was worth it. went for a mix – rugelach, fruit-filled butter cookies, these things that looked like a half-moon but were crisp and flaky, some chocolate/vanilla mixed dough cookies, and more.

now, for the true test – I picked these up on Saturday but they had to be served on Sunday, during dessert with my fairly judgmental family (Italian Sunday dinner is not a laughing matter). they were a smash hit! still as fresh and delicious as if they had just come out of the oven right then and there. the best part was nothing was "hurt your teeth sweet" – gotta watch out for that diabeetus!

the two women behind the counter were fast workers, I gotta say. they weren't rude as some other reviewers pointed out, maybe a bit aloof, but still they handled the busy noon-time crowd efficiently. and I also liked that they had a wall filled with artwork from children in the area!

make sure you get out your standard-issue Yelp Fat FUC Sweatpants, because you're gonna gain five pounds just walking in here. and that's before you eat the delicious cookies!

  3. The large fresh fruit tarts are fantastic!  I'm forever addicted to the almond croissant and their cheesecakes are pretty kick ass as well!

Come holiday time make sure to either call in your order or get there early to beat the person who is there to get the same things you are trying to get!

    CASH ONLY!

  4. Hidden away on the edge of Forest Hills and Kew Gardens is this very small Mom&Pop Pastry shop.
My partner who come here often recommended the croissants.

    The almond croissant was delicious!
The chocolate croissant was a little hard (just the whole chocolate bits in the filling) but great also.
I will definitely come back for the other pastries.

  5. Even to a GPS device, this place appeared to be hidden. If you can get to the corner of Austin Street and Ascan Avenue, you can get here.

I tried the Pecan Pie at my former professor's home and loved it so much that I came back the very next day to buy another one, only to be told that there were not going to be any available until the new year. Ouch. I ordered a scone, instead. It was overpriced but quite good! I'll come back for the almond croissants someday!

Thereafter, I went to Martha's Country Bakery and found their Pecan Pie almost as good. Christmas party saved!

  6. Heads up, like many NY places, it is cash only. Bring enough because you will want to buy everything. Street parking is super horrendous, but the subway and LIRR are closeby or you can park further away and walk in.

I love this place. It's very cosy, but I always seem to see a seat available. The couple that runs it is always so sweet. They answer any questions about the pastries available and I always end up buying more than I mean to.

I think their croissants are the very best in NY- quite the statement, I know. Their pan au chocolat is also really delicious. A friend ordered it recently and it was so good! I'm definitely getting it next time.

I bring all my friends and guests here and then show them around beautiful Forest Hills. It always makes an impression!

  7. Delicious pastries at reasonable prices!
Oh and a mean iced coffee!!!!  She put the sugar with a splish of hot water to melt it and then added the cold coffee and milk- perfection!

We tried a fruit tart and a raspberry bar of some sort.  Both were amazing!
No place to sit here – just one little table with two chairs.  Would like if they at least had a bench outside to sit on to enjoy your pastry.

  8. Best bakery in Queens.Try the almond croissant, to die for. Staff is awesome. Also try hamentashen lemon bars, it's all good
