Boom Boom Chicken serves delicious fried chicken! The menu and store are basic-there are 4 options of various chicken orders that you can get in small or large quantities, and with a mild or spicy coating, and then a bunch of sides (fries, onion rings, mozzarella sticks, rice, etc). Inside there are four or five small tables but most people were getting take out or delivery. All of the food is freshly made to order, so all orders take about 30-45 minutes. It is worth the wait, because the chicken tastes so fresh-the coating is crispy and has a nice garlic taste to it. I will definitely be back again!
There's definitely a BOOM of crispness flavor to this Boom Boom chicken. No need to travel up to Fort Lee area, this Rutherford spot has all you need for amazing, crispy, juicy, mild or spicy Korean fried wings. Best of all the lunch deal is awesome for less than $10, or you can grab a small order for $12, or if the hunger inside you cwalling $20 for the large order will set you in a lovely chicken food coma!
We found this location thanks to Yelp and the reviews are spot on!
We've been here a couple times and will continue to go back due to their awesomeness =).
Food:
– Korean wings are on point for us! There's nothing better than a double fried wing, that's packs a boom of flavor and still offers juicy meat inside.
– there are 4 meal options and we normally order the #1 or #2. We get the #1 when we want some drumsticks in the mix and go with the #2 when we want to wing it up.
– flavors are soy garlic and spicy garlic. The soy garlic has a mild flavor and spicy garlic will make you get that gallon of water daily we need lol. Be warned my friends the spicy is Spicy, but ohh so flavorful.
– the fries are awesome and double fried as well. Crispy and complements the wings. Boom boom does offer sides but we haven't really tried them due to our love for fries.
We love this location! Thank you Boom Boom for coming to Rutherford and giving us amazing Korean wing in this area. Give em and try and I'm sure any wing lover will love this spot, Enjoy y'all!
These were some really tasty wings. We ate in, the store has a couple of tables in it but it appears most of their business is takeout. We ordered the mild wings. Great flavor! The fries were very good also. I also had a side of pickled radish……it was nice having a different side for a change.
The server was very helpful and quite friendly.
If you are eating in it might be a good idea to call ahead…..it takes about 20-25 minutes for the chicken to be cooked…….the chicken is made to order ….nice to know its not laying around under a heat lamp.
Nice little store. Metered street parking and there is a municipal lot behind the store also.
Came here after realizing there was another location other than the Fort Lee one and I must say I enjoyed Fort Lee more.
This location is much smaller and we actually decided to take it to go after seeing the location itself. Not to say it wasn't clean or anything.. it just wasn't very inviting. The chicken is excellent just like the other location, same super crispy skin with the delicious juicy chicken with a soy garlic sauce. The fries here weren't as crispy as the other boom boom chicken so I was a little disappointed. This location you also have to call ahead about 20 mins before picking it up because everything is made fresh to order.
Stopped in here to grab some chicken with friends.
Note, it takes 30 minutes(!) to cook the chicken. So be prepared to wait. 3 tables of 4 seats each here – big party, you may want to order to go. Single bathroom in the back. Not much in the way of A/C, so it can get warm. There is a TV to watch while you wait.
The spicy chicken hasn't enough sweetness, and using big chicken legs is not a great way to infuse the flavor. The soy garlic isn't strong enough (needs more marinating on the small wings, and virtually no penetration in the big chicken legs). The best part happens to be the crunchy skin. The coleslaw is vinegary, no cream.
The fries are good. The onion rings aren't quite up to par. Rice for $1 a carton.
Overall, probably worth it for a craving if you're in the area and don't want to haul over to Fort Lee or K-Town in the city.
I love crispy fired chicken and sometimes I may just peel off the crispy skin from chicken pieces and eat that instead of the chicken meat. I was told how good Korean fried chicken was but never experience it and never had the will to go to K Town. Then I found out that Korean Boom Boom Chicken from Fort Lee opening up in my town, Rutherford NJ, and now I had no excuses not to try it.
I had the menu flyer and it recommend that I order 25 minutes ahead. So I did and asked for pick up of the the Large 6 piece drumstick, 10 wings combo for $ 20. With half the chicken with spicy spicy garlic sauce and the other half with mild garlic soy sauce. It comes with your choice of steam rice or coleslaw which I picked. Additionally I asked for some fries and onion rings. Their are only 6 items on the menu, with mozzarella sticks house salad beside the chicken and other items I ordered.
I got there in twenty minutes and waited another ten or fifteen more minutes for my order. The place is small with only two or three 2 seat tables inside in case you want to eat there. They cook the and prepare the food in the back in a sub-room so you don't know or see how it's done I took my order home to eat and share.
Both the spicy and mild chicken had a sweet and tasty candy coating. The double frying makes it real crispy but not dry. But the spicy spicy was already burning my tongue after the second piece and I stuck to the mild after that. The fries are also crispy and both the fries and onion rings where good, the coleslaw was also delicious but different from American style.
I still do KFC when needing to do a big bucket with biscuits and the sides with extra fries, my old habits are hard to give up on. But Boom Boom is my choice if we only need a few pieces and is closer to me or that I have that craving for the garlic sauce taste. They have a fantastic $ 7 dollar lunch special 5 pieces with small salad and either rice or fries.
I'm a pretty big fan of KFC (Korean fried chicken). There aren't too many of these places in southwest bergen county, so this is a pretty good location for this type of food.
I tried the lunch special for $7. Its pretty good and it wasn't too greasy. The chicken tasted clean and fresh. I got 5 pieces of chicken, unfortunately you can't choose which types of chicken, its a mix of wings and thighs, salad, and a choice or steamed rice or French fries.
I have only gotten takeout here so I can't comment about the dine in experience. I did see two tables or so, for dine in there.
You have to call 20 mins before you pick it up because the chicken is made fresh to order. I think its a little less time for the lunch specials because its pre-made, in anticipation of the lunch hour rush.
I came here on a friday for lunch. We called ahead with our order, and they had it ready on time for us. I have had Bon Chon before and it is similar. I do like Bon CHon better which is why i'm giving it a 4 and not a 5. However, it is still extremely good. ITs the type of thing you cant eat all the time if you want to live long, but if i'm going to have fried chicken. KFC is the thing to get (Korean Fried Chicken) people!
$7 lunch deal and you get 5 pieces either hot or mild or half half. I got half and half and liked them both. The spicy is not too hot. ITs just a nice little kick. You also get a small side salad and either fries or rice. I got the fries which were ok. The guy working was friendly and got us in and out quickly since we told him we had a short amount of time.
PS- parking can be a little difficult during lunch time so just be aware!
