This is usually my last resort place I'd go too ex: weather, or something local. They have a late kitchen which is good, drinks are decent priced. They have a large amount of beer choices which is great. Friday's and Saturdays they have a DJ who usually doesn't walk in till 10:30. Good music and some dancing. Just beware every weekend it's usually the same people who are regulars lol.
Stopped by here yesterday with the Mrs. to get a quick bite to eat before heading home. We got there just in time for the opening so we were the first in.
As a former Staten Islander, I am always looking for a sports bar to watch some games. I found this place on my Yelp app and thought they were actually related to the NFL Mannings. I was informed by the bartender that the name came from the owner's grandparents who were actual bootleggers back in the day.
We started off with drinks, the wife had the Angry Orchard Hard Cider, and I tried the Shock Top pale ale which is one of about 16 beers on tap. They also have about 20 bottled beers and does anyone remember Pabst Blue Ribbon in a can?
They opened about 4 years ago and is located right before the Goethals Bridge on Forest Avenue. They have about 6 TVs to watch the games, an outdoor patio with 6 or 7 picnic tables so you can enjoy your beer and food outside. For other entertainment they have some video games, pool table and my favorite, air hockey game from my younger days. 🙂
They run specials during game days and have ladies night on Thursday with Karaoke. They also have a DJ during the weekends.
To eat, we tried the fried grilled cheese sticks with spicy mayo and the Philly Cheesesteak wrap. Both were good and filling.
Will definitely come back to watch some Sunday football games in the near future.
I came here on a Saturday around 4:30pm. My friend and I were basically the only ones in here which I didn't mind. They have a good amount of draft beers and since the last time I came here it looks like they did some work on the place. They added some games as well as spruced up the interior decoration. They also added a bar on the outside which I think is open on weekend evenings.
The place can get packed on weekend evenings so be mindful of that. There's a private parking lot which makes things easier. The bartender was courteous and friendly. We ordered some food which was good. I ordered their speciality burger which came with fries. I enjoyed it and look forward to trying something else next time I'm in the area.
I know they have karaoke and a DJ certain evenings. The bathroom was clean for the most part and not small at all. The overall place is spacious with plenty of seating. The outside area is sectioned off where you can sit down and smoke or just relax. This is a cool place to bring a friend or possibly a date.
