Excellent place for tapas. Great, very cool atmosphere & the food was superb. Highly recommended

I came here for Paella and for 23 per person, it just wasn't worth it. The seafood was sparse and overall the dish was way too salty for me. The rice was slightly too moist or even wet. The best thing about Boqueria was the sardines with goat cheese which was reasonable for three at $8. That was absolutely delicious.

The seating was uncomfortable and my server wasn't the most attentive server. Nothing mind blowing here.

I don't understand how this place is rated 4 stars unless you like extremely spicy peppers, goat cheese, bitter cabbage, gamey lamb, burnt rice, and hard churros.

Pimientos de Padrón- Some people just don't like munching on mouth-burning salted peppers, they aren't like edamame.

Dátiles con Bacon- Dates wrapped with bacon would be an interesting idea if it didn't include goat cheese. Honestly, how many people like goat cheese?

Albóndigas- I don't mind lamb if it's cooked well, but the lamb meatballs were very gamey.

Paella de Mariscos- The rice in the paella was partially burnt, so it was dry and crunchy.

We ordered the chef's menu, which was $45 per person. The only dishes I enjoyed were the patatas bravas, brussel sprouts, and garlic shrimp, but they were nothing special. Everything else was either plain or unappetizing. If you're going to make a chef's menu, choose ingredients that a decent amount of people enjoy. Our group of 14 people did not enjoy most of the dishes.

Oh man!!!! I seriously cannot wait to come back to this restaurant! This is a true gem of the neighborhood that offers incredible delicious food and drinks.

My wife and I came here on a Saturday night with one of our good friends without a reservation. Wait time was about an hour which was no problem as we anticipated a wait and there's so many places to go to in the area and shop around while you wait. Came back and our table was all set and ready to go. For drinks we could not turn away their amazing pitchers of sangria which we had a few of. I highly suggest the sangria as your drink of choice. For dinner we all decided to order and share a bunch of tapas. Our absolute favorite was the lamb skewers cooked to perfection with such amazing flavor, we ended up ordering a couple extra bc they were so good. We ordered the shishito peppers which were pretty basic but great for what they are. I had to order the anchovy toast as it is one of my favorite things to order anywhere and these were some of the best i've had, trust me and just order them! The oxtail was also quite deliceous!! we also ordered a few of the special tapas which seem to be escaping my mind at the moment but there was not one bad thing on the menu that we ordered.

The vibe of this restaurant was very chill, it was very crowded but everyone was certainly enjoying themselves and there was simply no reason not to. The wait staff was incredible, very attentive, helpful, and very friendly. Check this place out and I promise you that you WILL be back many many times.

What's not to like about tapas? So much to try and share & so many flavors. You can be sure you won't have a dull meal. The food is a little pricey, but Boqueria is very comfy and trendy. The space is long and narrow, but it didn't feel cramped in their leather bench seats. Upon walking in, I saw charcuterie plates being prepped in the station by the door. The bar by the entrance showcases racks of wine. There is more bar seating in the back of the restaurant that overlooks an exposed kitchen. I wouldn't mind having a meal here whilst watching the cooks prepare jamon with the deli slicer.
Service was another plus. Our server was friendly and informative. They seated us for our reservation even though part of our party had not arrived yet. We started with the white sangria – white wine w/ triple sec, rum, orange, apple, and the sangria Andaluz – white wine, Manzanila sherry, vodka, basil, cucumber. They were sweet and refreshing, but the seasonal sangria had a more clean taste.

$12 Escalivada – fire roasted eggplant, red pepper, onion, labne yogurt, fresh herbs and olive oil, w/ flatbread:
Ok! Our server prounced labne la-been (not sure if that's the correct pronunciation) and described it as similar to Greek yogurt but with less of a tart flavor and less chalky texture. It was a thick, creamy consistency and tasted slightly tangy. I spread a mixture of the labne, eggplant, pepper, and onions onto the warm flatbread. The eggplant and roasted peppers balanced out the yogurt nicely. It was not bad, but not the most standout dish that we tried.

$8 Cojonudo – fried quail eggs and chorizo on toast:
Good! The delicate fried eggs and chorizo were like mini open-faced sandwiches, with some arugula leaves as garnish. You kind of have to eat it in one bite if you don't want yolk dripping down your fingers.

$12 Croquetas Cremosas (Creamy Croquettes) – 3 mushroom, 3 Serrano ham:
Great! The croquettes were arranged in a single line and held to the plate with sauce. They were crunchy on the outside and super creamy and steaming hot on the inside. The mushroom ones had a nice nutty flavor. I'm not sure if I liked the mushroom or the Serrano ones better.

$23pp Paella de Mariscos – Bomba rice, monkfish, sepia, squid, shrimp, clams, mussels, saffron, salsa verde:
Great! The paella was served in a small wok. The rice was cooked well, and had the slightly crunchy texture that paella typically has. It was topped with a good amount of shrimp. There was a light drizzle of salsa verde over the top. I appreciated that they wrapped the lemons with straining cloth that catches the seeds when you squeeze the lemon over the rice. The sea animals were tender, including the squid. There was a lot of flavor, but almost too salty though.

$10 Churros Rellenos w/ nutella, cinnamon sugar:
Wanting to end the meal on a sweet note, we shared these bite-sized churros filled to the brim with nutella, and topped with sugar. It's hard not to enjoy donuts and nutella filling, but I wouldn't say this is a must have. It seems like many restaurants are serving some type of churro or doughnut dessert these days. Plus, it's a little overpriced for about $2 per miniature churro.

Overall, I enjoyed every dish we tried, some familiar and some not so familiar. I'd love to come back to try other dishes, and possibly spring for the Jamon Iberico. Actually, I hope I make it out to the Boqueria Market in Barcelona one day.

On a recommendation, I came here for brunch with a friend on Saturday and had a great time with some fresh tapas. We ordered a charcuterie plate, the grilled octopus, shishito peppers and garlic shrimp.

All the dishes were quite good but unfortunately was slightly disappointed with the charcuterie plate. Two types of meats weren't sliced very thinly and (not sure whether true) but almost seemed like regular store bought sausage meats. I will say that the Catalan tomato toast that came with the meats though was very authentic, crispy, and delicious.

Grilled octopus was definitely the highlight. Great smokey flavor with a little pepper powder on top to give a slight kick.

Decor and service were very respectable and great thing is Boqueria does actually take reservations. Would come here again!

During my recent visit to see my NYC-based daughter, we came here for dinner. It was a lovely meal. Our only 'ick' factor was our server who took away my daughter's wine glass BEFORE IT WAS EMPTY when my daughter ordered another glass! Who DOES that?! We chalked it up to her being inexperienced?

We ordered the sampler…which was expensive…but you get a ton of food.  It was hard for us to really enjoy each course because we got full. We certainly could not do the tapas justice. Next time, we'll order 2-3 tapas and more if we are still hungry.

Excellent tapas and a winning place to celebrate (but beware: the check can add up quickly). Five of us went to celebrate a coworker's farewell and Boqueria left us stuffed and happy. Service initially was socially awkward and not all that warm, but it picked up over time and with a different server.

Here's what you must get: the dates wrapped in bacon and stuffed with bleu cheese are amazing and dangerous: you won't want to stop ordering them. Pan con tomate was also good, but workmanlike and not awe inspiring. The patatas bravas was fantastic, with a nice spicy kick, and the tortillas española muy tasty and excellently prepared. The cheese and meat platter was outstanding, with delicately sliced ham and sausage that were aged for maximum flavor. The croquettes were mediocre and lamb meatballs were just okay. The gambas al ajillo (shrimp with lots of garlic) was a nice dish, but we really didn't really need more food at that point. But since we were celebrating, dessert had to end the night and the churros stuffed with nutella did so spectacularly well.

For drinks, the red sangria was stellar, with no fruit and not too sweet. The special sangria of the day, a white sangria with pineapple and a touch of bourbon, was interesting, but not amazing. Overall, we dropped some serious cash on the many small plates but the celebration was worth it.
