While just celebrating their Grand Opening (despite being open almost a month now) and "working out pricing" some things are still off.
Don't get me wrong; staff is/are friendly and try to be helpful but Bottle Co. needs to know the competition.
NJ Beer Co at 12.99 when at the brewery down the road it's 10.99 (everything except the LBIPA which is priced correctly).
Stone 24 Carrot for 11.99 when it's 7.99 everywhere else (everywhere being Bottle King, Spirits Unlimited, Wegmanns, and Joe Canals)?!?!
Other 22oz "Bullet bottles" seem off too.
Don't get me started on the $20 growler fills; Bottle Co needs to comp shop Joe Canals….
I love the store as it's convenient. It is better then anything in the area, however, as a person who seeks out specialty beer, I know the going rate for many beers and Bottle Co. needs to adjust. I have no problem going to the Buy Rite, Bottle King, or Joe Canals I pass on a daily basis to save $4 on a 22oz Stone release or a growler fill.
I could drop to three stars (3 1/2 seems more fair thus the drop in one star) over these issues but if things are reassess then back up to 5 stars you go ….
Never again.
I really, really, really wanted to love this place. It's local, laid back and super amazing drinks.
But, I literally can't excuse being ignored. I wouldn't even call it bad customer service because there was barely any service at all.
Once this random guy found the bartender, he made us drinks and spent the rest of the time talking with another table. He came over one time, asked if we were done, got our glasses and literally walked away without another word. We actually wanted to order more and would've returned but it was borderline disrespectful how he treated us.
I want to come up with a million excuses but I can't think of one. Were we the only people of a certain background there? Yes. Did we possibly look like we were from the surrounding area and not the Avalon/Hoboken/etc? Yes. But you know what a decent, paying customers there are just NO excuses for not being helped. Maybe we were confused how ordering works? I really don't know….
Either way we were over it before we even really got started. It's a shame!
Will definitely be back here to take advantage of the bar and growler options. Dropped in to check it out and grab something really quick.
The place looks great, state-of-the-art check out via tablets and such. Definitely not your typical liquor store. Update definitely to come.
