  1. I'm not sure this place is "authentic" but the food they serve is pretty tasty. I've been coming here for a few years and I've never been disappointed. Most recently, I enjoyed the blackened catfish, grits and spinach… Everything was delicious. We ordered mimosas too and unlike too many places in this city, you could actually taste the champagne and it wasn't loaded with ice. I tasted my friends crawfish etouffee too, it wasn't as good as my catfish, but still good. Always good eating and drinking here!

  2. It was A-OK. We went here with a medium sized group, celebrating a friend's birthday. This place is really big and "festively" adorned which was cool because we were in a festive mood.

I thought the service was really attentive but I wasn't as happy with us being seated in their "sun" room when it was the coldest night in recent history. It was OK but towards the end we were all pretty damn cold.

The food was decent. It wan't really that Cajun or Creole (but I'm from the South and I knew it wouldn't be), but the taste and quality were there. Plus the prices were good compared to the portion size and the hot apps were all pretty tasty.

The drinks were a bit sweet for me, but they were large.

Can't say we would be dying to return here but it's worth a try if you're in the area and you're looking for affordability and good service.

  3. Went here Sunday night at 6:30p.

    Food and drinks were good!
    – hurricane : good
    – swamp drink: big and a bit sweet

-bayou shrimp- delicious!  Reminded me of New Orleans.
    – catfish blackened-  delicious!  I had it with rice (big bowl) and spinach ( loved it but too small) and mixed vegetables were good.

If you get the groupon this is a great deal!!!  Would go back again.

  4. Went to Bourbon street on St.Patricks day in NYC. Found them on google and decided to check them out. And man was it a great spot!! The whole New Orleans feelings was great. The way the inside is set up is just awesome I couldn't stop looking around. The bartenders were all awesome and friendly. Great staff. Two of my friends got a hurricane drink and swap juice drink and they were great. They're quick on service so big plus. Overall Bourbon Street is a great place to visit and I can't wait to visit them on Mardi Gras. Highly recommend going and brining all your friends.

  5. The service here is good and the drinks are tasty. It's a rather large space, very large in fact and good for a groups. I love the fact that the bathrooms are located downstairs and away from the food. The food…though decent, the catfish, string beans and spinach were a tad over seasoned. In other words, every single iota of garlic, salt, and whatever else they used to season the food could be tasted by my tastebuds. They have a great desert menu that's full of sugary options! Yay!! Also, the bar is large and well stocked with a variety of drinks to choose from.

  6. Ummm, not sure my review will matter but I've had better Cajun  food. The only things I liked were the gumbo and some alligator app and those  actually filled me up. I didn't need the rest. One of my favorite  foods is hush puppies, these were the worse  I ever  had. The side veggies were bland. I didn't order the chicken  and biscuits with gravy but I'm glad I didn't. First, I don't like gravy, and even if I did the chicken and biscuits were killed  by how much gravy was poured over them.  Anyway, the food wasn't for me.

  7. To be fair, I wasn't here for very long. Stopped by with two of my colleagues while bar hopping and figuring out where to settle for St. Patrick's Day. It was around 5:30pm, and while there were a decent number of people, we were seated right away.

Didn't try the food. We decided to try the swamp juice drink (mostly for the green color, in the spirit of the holiday), and it was awfully sweet (emphasis on the awful). I could only (barely) tolerate one sip. To their credit, the server did give us her honest opinion that she didn't like it because she herself is not a fan of sweet drinks. Finished off the evening with Guinness and went about the rest of our night elsewhere.

Verdict: wouldn't make this my final destination (there are better bars around), but I wouldn't stop anyone from going there.

  8. Pretty darn authentic for New Orleans restaurant located in NYC.

My aunt and cousins from Louisiana were visiting NYC and wanted a place that was close to the hotel they were staying. I came and met up with them. Parking is obviously on the street, and can be a bit challenging on the weekend but I was able to find parking. You can't miss this place.

Upon walking in, I found my aunt seated at the bar. The place is definitely quite authentic, with large mardi gras beads hanging on the wall, among other delightful bourbon street goodies. And of course, I cannot forget to mention, there are multiple TV's playing college football or whatever sport is on! Of course, LSU was playing so we had to watch.

the drinks were a large menu of just about anything  you could imagine getting at a bar on bourbon street. The menu was quite extensive, from gumbo to jambalaya and everything southern goodness one could imagine. I had the chicken and biscuits, which was overly heavy on the gravy, but the biscuits were delicious buttery and light, and the chicken fried perfectly, like you would get from your momma's kitchen. My aunt had some fried oysters which were seasoned perfectly, and crawfish etouffee which was pretty delicious although bordering on not as spicy as I would have liked.

If you have never been to new Orleans and are looking for a similar food experience before you go, then come to this place. Overall the atmosphere and food were pretty close to home.
