Just at the corner of Restaurant Row, you'll find this restaurant. My hubby and I always go to another place down the street but decided to try a new place and kind of regretted our decision. (I shoulda checked out the Yelp reviews before)
The ambiance and place looks great. Cozy, cute, and well decorated. Our waiter was great too. Attentive and pleasant.
We ordered a beer and wine along with grilled squid as an app. The squid was decent but I wouldn't recommend it. It was missing something and was a little chewy for me.
For our entrees we ordered seafood risotto and pappardelle with meat sauce. Both were good but nothing special. The seafood risotto came with a scallop, 2 shrimp, and clams (as seen in the pic).
All in all not terrible but I wouldn't come back. There are many other places to choose from in the neighborhood.
It's true that you get what you pay for, so given the prices and location I wasn't really surprised when this place ended up being more or less a gussied-up Greek diner.
Food was 'meh' and took a very long time to come. My potatoes were practically cold, and my dad's pancakes didn't arrive until well after the rest of us had our food.
The decor is pretty, with brocaded chairs and high ceilings and iron chandeliers, but it still just felt like a diner playing dress-up.
On the plus side, we were able to get a nice table in the window immediately during the Saturday brunch rush, and the prices were significantly lower than most places in the Theater District. If you want pre-matinee brunch in the area you should really think ahead and make a reservation somewhere better, but in a pinch this'll do.
This is a decent French bistro in the theatre district. We came here about 90 minutes before our show, and that was about perfect as they were a little short staffed that Sunday afternoon.
Service was good and the food is decent. Prices are typical of what would find in NYC. In the end, I would come back but it would not be my first choice as there are tons of great dining options in the Big Apple.
I wasn't too hungry so I had the yogurt, granola and berry bowl–it exceeded my expectations! It was huge with lots of fruit. They use really good, well strained Greek yogurt. Granola was fresh. My partner had the frisee salad; it looked good but he said he had had better…. See pics!
This place is ok. We stopped in for drinks and appetizers after walking around Times Square. We had the Mediterranean Tapas which were pretty tasty. It was a plate of three different types of spreads with olives and pita wedges. We also tried the Monk Fish. I don't care for seafood so I only had a little taste. The service was pretty good, quick, and friendly. With so many great restaurants around Times Square, I'm not sure that we would return.
I'm beginning to think that all of the restaurants around restaurant row are the same with slightly different menus and names. This restaurant is no different. It's a mish-mash of European style dishes. I had short-ribs and my gf had seafood risotto. Both were fine. Service was good. And you can't beat this establishment's location as being the first on the row next to the theaters across the street.
I met up with my BFF for NYE. Thanks to Hub, we scored front access row to the Times Sq. Ball Drop! We met up for dinner & drinks first. It was practically impossible to find a spot that was not crowded or required reservations. Fortunately, we head further on 8th Ave & 45th and found Brasserie Athenee. They had a full bar in the front and it looked like a cozy and chic French bistro. We browse through the NYE menu and it looked pretty promising. For the hors d'oeuvres, a choice of La Soupe Du Jour, mixed field greens, Mediterranean Tapas or cheese plate and Charcuterie. The entree was Mediterranean Lamb Shank, Duck Confit, Seafood Risotto, Fennel Crusted Seared Salmon, Sauteed Pork Tenderloin Medallions, or a vegetarian option. For dessert, it was between creme brulée or chocolate mousse. The food was not exceptional but it was not bad. It was decent given the NYE menu choices.
I opt for the Mediterranean tapas. There was grape leaves, baba ghannoug, caviar spread, tzatziki, and olives with grilled pita. I had better but it was not bad. The pita arrived fresh and hot. I was not too crazy about the caviar spread. It had an orange texture with roe that was very salty. The grape leaves was definitely old. Same with my BFF who picked the same hors d'oeuvres and took a few bites. I had the duck confit that taste much better. It paired well with the caramelized onions and armanac dates jus. Overall, the duck confit was prepped and cooked well. For the dessert, I had the creme brulée. It was ok. The caramelized sugar was a bit dense. It could had been saved if it had been made fresh. Instead, it taste old. I also got a latte since it was getting late. Sadly, it was made even better compared to the dessert. In addition, I had the martini that taste watered down. My BFF had two glasses of house wine.
Our waiter was great and checked up on us to make sure everything was ok. For NYE in the area, this was a pretty good choice. It allowed a comfortable spot to chat and drink without the crazy, over-packed commotion of a pub/bar esp in Times Sq. However, if it were for a regular dining spot, I would had gone with another choice.
Came in for brunch before seeing a Broadway show. This place was close to the theater. We were seated immediately. It took a while for the waiter to take our order and it took about 20 minutes to get our food. A whole lot of waiting… But the food was good and the prices were affordable. The sausages were very good. I got poached eggs with salmon on an English muffin for $12.50. The side of sausages (two Italian sausages) was only $2.50. No complaints about the food. I would come back for.
I read the reviews but we enjoyed it. Though I will say the broth in the French onion soup was lighter than I prefer- almost like they use a chicken instead of beef broth. I am not sure.
The atmosphere and view are amazing and the food was really good.
We sat there for about 2 hours enjoying and they never made us feel rushed even though we had one of their best tables.
The owner greeted us and that was a nice touch.
