Bravo International Supermarket
“However, I should note that Trade Fair still wins out when it comes to their spice selection, which is nearly unbeatable for the price.”
“The manager (in a suit and usually right in front of the tomato display) is super nice, helpful, and fast!”
“Given the tiny aisles I am always amazed at how much variety they have.”

When I had a car I used to go here more often. There is no parking lot, but the side streets (by the Astoria Studios), are open for parking on weekends, so the parking is usually not bad. Unfortunately, this supermarket is a real hike from my place.
So, I didn't come here for convenience.
Simply put, this supermarket has a great selection of products, from produce to meats and fish to ethnic food to beers and soft drinks to coffees and teas… Did I leave something out? As I always say with produce, shop around and compare, but the produce here is pretty decent.
The prices are generally good.
The staff have been fine. They man who works in the fish section is very helpful. Also, I once came back to return bread that I later discovered was moldy. The management had no problems (quite the contrary, they were very apologetic and helpful) with me returning it and getting a replacement.
If I could, I'd come here more often.
Oh my! I stopped by Bravo for some snacks and beer for board game night at a friend's house nearby.
Right when I walked in the door, I was immediately amazed by their beer selection! Bravo got collections from local breweries like Brooklyn and Long Island. My favorite Ommegang was also here! I was a bit disappointed with not finding my Ommegang Witte but a staff member recommended me another lemony-taste beer which I did get!
The cheese section was pretty amazing! I was able to find all the cheese I needed to complement the craft beers I picked up. Smoked salmon was really fresh tasting too, by the way!
Overall, a very neatly organized supermarket and I love that I can find fresh ingredients here for cooking!
My favorite supermarket in my area! The meats and produce are fresh and they have great prices. It has been easy for me to find everything I have been looking for at Bravo. They even have a variety of Stash teas (my favorite).
Good selection of beers also.
I have a newfound respect for Bravo's beer selection.
This is the only place in the city my buddy could find Maine Brewing Company's Lunch IPA (according to the internet, at least). Like any good friend would, I trekked over here to grab one or four of them, and we took them to a nearby BYOB spot and went nuts.
Beware though, the Lunch IPA is not in the cold section, so you might have to resign yourself to drinking a six-pack of Bell's while it chills in the walk-in of whatever restaurant you choose.
To be clear, being forced to drink a six-pack of the best beer ever to come out of Kalamazoo is not a bad thing. Thanks Bravo.
Wonderful beer selection. I'm a stickler for dates and their beer is quite fresh. They even have really rare stuff like Allagash Curieux. The prices are really good as it is a supermarket selling beer. This makes it cheaper than many craft beer stores and infinitely better than Astoria Bier and Cheese, which is a complete gouge.
I love how 1/4 of these reviews state: "the manager here wears nice suits" Maybe this is a reflection of his attention to detail or general attitude for his work, and he seems to work hard! Thanks Victor. Him and the rest of the staff are very friendly and helpful. I've asked to exchange things and have returned an expired product and he's always nice about it. A bottle of olive oil cracked while setting my groceries down at home, I called and they set another one (on sale) aside for me. When I went in, I told Victor about it and he asked if I had the receipt. I didn't expect them to think they should replace it for me, and was fine with paying for it again. It definitely feels like your neighborhood supermarket.
The young cashiers are very fast as well. 5 stars for the young guy with the glasses and big gelled hair worn in every possible way. Just-Because. One time the lady behind me in line grabbed his arm and compared watches with him.
Their produce is very fresh, especially like their yams (not too big, not too small), kale, butternut squash, different heads of lettuces, basil, sweet carrots with the stalks still on, beets, wedges of watermelon. Sometimes there's good sales on produce. Ground beef is always fresh, their ground turkey and organic chicken run out pretty fast. I always see a lot of people buying seafood, they all seem to know the seafood guy.
This is one of the few supermarkets where I've found Cabot's horseradish and tomato and basil cheeses! Good selection of organic ice cream also.
I've discovered the best homemade bread also: Medina State Inc. Brooklyn, NY "All Natural Multigrain" trust me. toast it with butter. Check for mold though, one time I had a problem and had to return the whole loaf.
I was thinking about giving them 3 stars because recently they started carrying Ronnybrook yogurt. I've had to return it twice within 2 weeks ($1.99- compared to $1.25 at Union Square). They were not set to expire for 3 weeks and there was full grown mold on top of the yogurt. He even let me open a new yogurt there, and there was STILL mold on the new one from the very back of the fridge.
PS. And don't go on Mondays for the bottle return. Apparently this is the day, after the weekend when the local bottle collectors go, with their filled shopping carts.
I happen to be in this part of the hood before going to Sunswick. As with all new stores I only have one thing that I look for…Mineral Water.
This store has all the brands that you have come to love here with the addition of a couple of German brands ad well as Güitig from Ecuador.
Formerly Bravo International Supermarket, the only thing that's really changed is the sign. Same folks run the place. Victor the dapper manager extraordinaire keeps things running like clockwork. While Vishnu may be the Hindu Supreme diety Svayam Bhagavan of Vaishnavism, C-Town's Vishnu is the King of the Seafood section–move aside Poseidon.
C-town offer just enough of everything you may need to make it a one-stop-shop. Plenty of organic items including organic poultry. Now if they bring in organic meats I'll be all set.
