Margherita slice is flavorful, but over seasoned. My friend had a stuffed meat slice and pepperoni slice. We won't be back. There are much better pies in the city.
Pizza is reheated and is pretty good. They're dependable if you're hungry but you probably shouldn't go out of the way for their pizza. Everything is reheated and you choose what you want and pay at the front. There are tables and a pasta bar in the back. We had a slice of cheese pizza and a pepperoni pizza bagel cup thing. Both were solid. We tend to stop by if we're in Flatiron and are starving.
So, Bravo is at the moment trying to transition to a new name, and that is the Big NY Slice. That being said, the pizza here is OK. A smidge thicker than what a native NY'er would consider a thin slice, and definitely less flavorful, but overall decent.
I frequent this location, as it is the closest to my work, and Grimaldi's is just a bit too much farther, otherwise I would be there 24/7. I even order pizza's from here once to twice a month for my staff during a late night session.
All of that being said, the prices change on the regular. While I don't know if I am being overcharged, or some one made a mistake, each time I question it, I am told it is correct. I'm at the point that I really don't want to go back anymore. It's simple. Two slices, and you get a free 16 oz drink. 9 times out of 10, I have to remind the cashier of the free drink, and 9 times out of 10 I pay a variation on the same price, of the same items. A few weeks ago, I even asked to see a menu because the price of a white slice I was told a the front, was different from the back. Then, turns out the oregano on the slice made it a whole $1.26 different than the price I was quoted. What?
They are a quick turnover spot in a touristy area, so I guess I should expect a squeeze. However, that much? Even ordering a large cheese pie deviates from the menu price anywhere from $3 – $8??
I'm pretty much done due to the lack of pricing and consistency for a meh slice. As well, the lack of transparency provided once you've already ordered, know the price, and the miraculously change practically every time. It's really not that good of a slice, but somewhere OK to go in a pinch.
PS. The only reason this is a 3 star review, instead of a two is due to how awesome the guys are up front. If you're friendly, they are friendly back, and if you have any questions, or heat preferences, they are completely game. I like them, despite the constant phone being out, and loud music. They are still always willing to please, and want you to have a decent lunch and/or dinner.
Absolutely satisfied my cravings for a real NY slice. Perfect crisp crust, tangy sauce, gooey cheese, not a sloppy unstructured mess. Garlic knots were on point.
I've been working on 5th Avenue for 2 years now and I get a Penne ala Vodka with Shrimp from here at least 3 times a week. Their service is great, their food is awesome, they NEVER mess up my order, and their staff is super friendly.
Penne ala vodka is the best in this area. Chicken parm is pretty good too.
I used to work close by and frequent this pizzeria often. They have a decent lunch special when you buy 2 plain slices you get a free fountain beverage. Their pizza is tasty and they are pretty fast. It's a bit of a weird setup, though. You order the slices in the front when you enter and then proceed towards the back to pay or order pasta and salads. Every so often, they change the layout of the store as well and their offerings.
Okay, so I try not to judge a book by its cover but before we walked in here the sign just said PIZZA. Shady as ever. My bf was starving and this is the first place he had found. You walk in and there's a really narrow walkway between the wall and the counter. But down the long hallway there are tons of tables that you can't exactly see from the entry way. The pizza and garlic knots were absolutely wonderful, and I can't say that about many pizza places. Looks can surely be deceiving. I would SO come here again and recommend this place.
Veggie pie: so many vegetables and cheese! For an average human stomach with good self control and doesn't over eat like me, one slice of this vegetable pizza is more than enough. The dough was strong enough to hold the toppings and when you fold it in half, the vegetables stay in place. The crust was minimal and super crispy. I can't say it's a pie I would ever pay for or crave because it's similar to how I make pizza but it's definitely better than the fast food chain pizza!
