  1. The Bravo further down Broadway is better.  This one is okay…and I'll stop by if I'm walking by and see a good deal on something I need…but I found the staff to be full of attitude and to be very unhelpful.  That combined with how cramped this store is = I don't think so.

  2. I came here a couple times a few months ago to get the bare essentials–meat, milk, ice cream, some fruit… most of the items here are a bit overpriced, even for a neighborhood like Washington Heights, where I'd expect produce to be cheaper…  But there really isn't such thing as "cheap produce", except in Chinatown.

Because Bravo was close to where I lived, I went there for convenience sake. Sometimes the specials were pretty good, so when things were cheap, they'd be worth stocking up.  For the most part, the supermarket caters to the Latino population, so most of the produce, dry/canned goods, spices, etc. are staples of Latin cuisine.

Make sure to get your Bravo card to get sale prices. If you don't have one, just ask one of the workers for a "tarjeta" and they'll gladly sign you up for one.  A lot of the workers here don't speak much English, so if you know some Spanish, it'll come a long way!
