The food was ok but the prices are inflated due to the location. I came here after seeing a play, hoping for some good late night food. I was a little tipsy to begin with and the $5 sangria sign lured me in.
We sat at the bar because it was too late to get the whole BBQ shebang. We got some drinks and ordered off a menu. I got a cod stew that was tasty. We also tried the steak which was pretty dry and just not super great for the amount of money we spent. We got a cod fish croquette appetizer, which was very good.
This place is not bad, it is just priced extremely high for the menu items that would be at least 5-10 dollars less in a Brazilian restaurant somewhere else in the city. If you are going to drop $150 on a couple of drinks and entrees, there are far better places to do so.
We bought the groupon before we read most of the awful reviews on here and we were a little apprehensive to go. Turned out to be a pretty decent meal.
So yeah, you are downstairs in a basement that looked a little overrun and old, but you know, we didn't come here for the romantic ambiance either, we saw unlimited meat and that sold it. So when you are sitting in front of your best friend, it's not like you gonna be looking at the walls… but I can see why people would be upset to sit in a frat house beer pong looking basement.
When you arrive, you start of with the buffet. You have a wide range of fresh choices: salad, tomato salad, mushroom salad, beets, corn, tuna salad, asparagus, and other miscellaneous healthy sides. That's cool. The hot part of the buffet offers you overcooked paella, over-creamy something, Swedish meatballs, and something chicken. Nothing impressive about that haha. The waiter brings to your table a place of rice, a bowl of beans, a side of French fries and two maduros. At first I thought that was it, and I was like, I see why this place gets a 1 star… but then another waiter comes around with meat on skewers. yeah!
The first round (of many) offered chicken, something wrapped in bacon, and a beef on a bone ( I really don't remember any meat name), then there were three rounds of different parts of beef, cut off at your table straight from the skewers, and a round of pork loin. After the server presented you with everything he has he asks you if you would like more of one or more of the meat options. I was full after the first round so I passed. However, I can see why people get upset, if the food is available to you all the time, you really are going to stuff yourself but when the guy asks you if you want more, you will be more likely to decline.
The meats were all good, it was just all very very plain. My favorite was the chicken. I couldn't tell the difference between the different parts of beef and that's okay lol, there wasn't any seasoning. I don't know how it's supposed to be anyway, but it really was just plain meat. Nothing near good cooking, because there wasn't any cooking, they probably just put the meat on a stick and let it roast, which is fine, but it's nothing worth coming back for, ya know what I mean?
Our deal included a dessert. We settle on the flan and the cheesecake, they were good.
Overall, the basement, I didn't care much for, the fresh food buffet was cool, the meats were abundant and good (nothing extraordinary), the staff was very attentive and great. You don't leave hungry; but, I am glad we came on a groupon because this isn't worth the $109 at all.
We stumbled on this place for a cocktail and apps. Cocktails were stiff and my first caprinha. Good stuff, I liked my passion fruit one and the regular even better. I got rice and beans, the rice not fully cooked, the beans excellent though (not over salty as they usually are). My husband got the salad with shrimp and sausage, overdressed and soso, and overpriced. The service was great. Lighting too brown yellow, quiet enough to talk but not dead atmosphere. Food overpriced for sure. Sadly, would not go back.
I would say that if you are really desperate for some steak and have lots of time, go to this place. For 37 dollar special you can get mediocre side dishes and unlimited cuts of meats you want. However, the meat is brought out so slowly you will need a huge appetite and a lot of time to really take advantage of the special. The wait staffs are nice but this place overall is nothing really special.
Definitely enjoyed my dinner here. It was delicious. Chicken Marsala with mashed potatoes. The music was nice and so was the ambiance. There was a musician playing bob Marley music in Portuguese it was really cool. Would return again.
I came here with a groupon for an all you can rodizio dinner with drinks and dessert which was $59 for two people (regular price $109). Without the groupon discount, this place would not have been worth the regular price. The first thing that you will notice is that this place is very run down. You can see cracks in the ceiling, peeling paint, stain covered floor, etc. This place is in a good location and appears to make good money, so the owners must be very cheap.
Before the waiters come around with the meat on skewers, you can help yourself to the steam table buffet at the back. This buffet was actually very good and had a very satisfactory selection of things. Salad, meatballs, chicken stew, and much more. The fried chicken that they had put out was very flavorful and tasted delicious. It is meant to fill you up so you get less skewered meat, but it was good quality food.
The waiters then started coming by with various meats on skewers. These included roast beef, roast chicken, skirt steak, sirloin steak, pork loin and roast pork. In general, the inside meat of most of these were dry. However, I will admit the outside skin of everything was very tasty. The best tasting for me was actually the roast chicken.
By the end of the meal, we were completely stuffed and could eat no more. However, taking into account all of my above observations, this was a very average meal overall.
Overall, I'm never coming back.
Food:
-Meats were dry and tough.
-I know ceviche is raw, but the shrimp are supposed to be cooked. I found a raw piece of shrimp and a yellow piece of plastic in my dish.
Service:
-Waiters were very confused and didn't know what they were doing. Just bring us a Coke we ordered please? Like you said you would twice?
-At least they were apologetic about the ceviche and offered complimentary dessert, but I had to refuse eating anything else from that kitchen.
You've been warned. Eat here at your own risk.
Overall just ok for the price and location.
Service was ok. Some servers were great while others were forgetful.
The food was a mix of great and just ok. Some of the meat options were amazing, wrapped turkey and sausage, while others felt lame (most of the salad bar).
The drinks were badly mixed, I had to ask them to sweeten their signature drink because it hurt to sip it. Please don't assume I don't like hard liquor, I just like well blended drinks.
The biggest disappointment was presentation of the location, and food. The women's restroom had a huge leak going on and the toilet didn't flush paper but the sign wasn't obvious. The sink ran onto the floor when you washed your hands. The buffet was not impressive because it felt like a cafeteria set up. I'm sure they could find a nicer unit. The tables downstairs didn't get the decor attention given to those upstairs making it feel cheap.
