Pretty good tacos, nothing that really made them stand out but they were enjoyable.
The taco platter was a trio of tacos (of your choosing.) The grilled steak, spicy pork, and tempura fish were all good. Each one seemed to be topped with the same things, chopped tomato salsa and cheese sauce. The morsels were gone quickly.
The bacon jalapeño hotdog was pretty good, also topped with cheese sauce, tomato salsa, and a bit of green onion. I would have liked there to have been more of a snap to the hotdog and the bun was a bit too small.
The mint lemonade was pretty good, very mild, rather light on lemon flavor and not very sweet. There was a lot of mint leaves in it even though the mint flavor wasn't strong. There were some lemon wedges too.
The place has the look and feel of a fast food bar. Not too clean, a bit messy, only a few high shared tablespoon stools. It's better as a place for takeout or to pop in for a quick bite.
Check out my pics and you will understand my utter disappointment with the decreased portion size. My family were regulars here, often buying extra so we can have leftovers the next day. I am appalled by how small they are now (and they were small to begin with). $3.75 for the tiniest taco in the world. Everything about this taco was miniature portioned: the piece of fish doesn't even weigh an oz (and that is WITH the batter), 1 tsp of house slaw, a sliver of avocado (less than 0.5 cm)… it is like they are being cheap. Seriously, this felt like a slap in the face considering how our family supported the Breakroom business. Well no more until they fix this problem.
Very , very small restaurant in Chinatown. Had to pay a visit because I heard so many good things about it!
In regards to the ambiance — there are two communal tables and a few seats by a window; so this is more of a food to go place. Definitely a casual location .
For service, this is more of an order and go place (however if you sit in the restaurant, they bring food over to you) . Service was average.
My friends and I ordered a plethora of items ; the breakroom burger, fish tempura sandwich, tater tots (refular) , chicken burger, mint lemonade and passion fruit lemonade. Everyone loved their sandwiches! I had the chicken burger (grilled) and it was flavorful — however I added some of their bbq sauce (as I like my burgers saucy!). I thought the original sauce on the chicken was not too spicy at all, but my other friend with the same order did think it was on the spicier side. The tater tots were the highlight of the meal — perfect crisp , not soggy at all and the sauce was delicious. The lemonades were very good as well.
I would come back to satisfy a burger craving (and get a decent portion) as well as try the other fries they offer! Prices were super reasonable as well.$15 minimum for credit cards!!
This place really surprised me! They serve a couple of over the time items which can usually be hit or miss and here they were a hit!
The breakroom fries had French fries, tots, bacon, pork belly and cheese. Topped with an egg and jalapeño. A lot of flavors and textures that al worked together.
Also had the burger of the month with two patties, pork belly, onion ring, and mac and cheese. It was pure decadence. Barry hardy but everything was cooked and seasoned very well.
Can't wait to go back!
Had an excellent experience here!! Bookmarked it for awhile now and finally got to try it out. Friendly staff and amazing food.
What I had and recommend: Fish Taco, Pork Belly Taco, Breakroom fries, and Passion fruit lemonade! First off their tacos are so delicious. All the ingredients that they put in them work so well together which makes it so good. I liked the fish taco slightly more. As for the fries, they were awesome and so was the drink.
Overall I will definitely come again!! The only complaint is that space is limited and it feels a bit cramped.
I finally had a chance to try this place. I randomly came here for dinner. The place is small with a few long tables & chairs.
Drink:
sweet lemon tea large for drinks $3.95- they use the real lemon & its refreshing!
Food:
Fries $6.95- big platter of fries with cheese, bacon & egg. Can definitely share with 2 people. Yummy!
Tacos plater(pick any 3 flavors) $9.95- fish, steak & pork. For that price its delicious & totally worth it.
Burger $9.95- it was huge, meat is tender & juicy.
Workers are really nice. You order it in the counter & they bring the food to you. I'm glad I went! I enjoyed my meal. I'll definitely go back when I'm around the area!
Great food, cool spot, pretty quick service! I got the breakroom fries and the mint lemonade. I downed all of the lemonade before I got the fries, it was SO GOOD. The fries were great. Heads up for the weak stomached that they're a little spicy, but I liked that. Fries got a little soggy because they're so loaded but that's to be expected. Definitely get a fork.
There aren't a ton of tables but it has cool decorations so there's interesting stuff to check out while standing!
Bit of a strange find when wandering Chinatown but the reviews spoke its praise.
Burgers and tacos, that's what you can expect to find here. Choosing from a few different taco varieties I initially decided to take mine to go but when space opened up at the window front counter I seized the opportunity and grabbed a seat.
Having selected their steak, pork belly and carnitas tacos with assorted toppings on flour tortillas (no corn) you're next move will be to select which of their seemingly endless hot sauces you'd like to garnish them with.
Not wanting to ruin mine, I choose from a few favorites. The tacos themselves were delicious especially after a long walk around NY. The pico de gallo was a bit watery and with the hot sauce it made the tortillas soggy fast but I didn't mind much.
Breakroom's a small place so don't go assuming you'll find a seat but if you do, stay and enjoy. Next time I'll be more adventurous with my hot sauce choices.
