  1. Brew has been on my radar for a while now; it's rare to come across an independently-owned coffeehouse in the Bronx so I decided to take advantage of my free morning and check it out.

Brew is located in a mostly residential area right off the Throggs Neck Expressway; with the exception of a few other shops and restaurants along the block, it's mainly surrounded by private homes. The atmosphere is welcoming – there's a warm color scheme throughout, lots of couches and chairs to sit, and a big-screen on the wall. In addition to coffees and teas, they have a decent variety of sweets, baked goods, and breakfast/lunch items. I just had a cappuccino this morning, which was nice and hot and tasted great.

The staff was very friendly – I'm glad I stopped in and am looking forward to returning. A number of my Yelp friends rave about their muffins, perhaps I'll save up some calories and splurge ;-). Truly a neighborhood find and awesome alternative to the chains.

  2. As a non-coffee drinker I finally had a reason to check this spot out thanks to a special invitation from one of the coolest chicks I know, Mercedes. So glad that we made this choice.

My side of the bridge is devoid of coffee houses, so this idea to meet at the Brew Coffeehouse was a good one. As I mentioned prior, I am not a big coffee drinker but still wanted to see what this place is all about. The reviewers were all correct. This hidden gem of a coffeehouse provides an assortment of your favorites, Capps, Mochas and Chai's, with the inclusion of breakfast sandwiches, muffins and a variety of other pastries all within reasonable prices. Once your order is placed you can stay and enjoy your coffee seated on one of their comfy couches and relax and chill. You can also charge up your phone from the many available outlets and also make use of the free WiFi. During the weekdays they are open early from 0600 (06:00am) for the early risers and close at 2000 (08:00pm) for those that need their sweet tooth satiated. Weekend hours vary slightly.

Thanks Yelp for bringing good food, good hot and cold beverages and especially many, I mean many good people into my life. What more could you ask for?

  3. I usually have second thoughts about going in to a 'Brewhouse' or 'Coffeehouse'. Just because I've not been a coffee drinker in the past 4 years and not knowing if these Cafés offer more than your triple espressos, regular coffee or cappuccino.

With the help of Yelp, I instantly made a connection with the lovely Pat F. and we planned a Chai Date. I was excited when Pat told me about Brew Coffeehouse. Sadly, looking at Soundview, Castle Hill, Throgs Neck and other surrounding sections in these Bronx whereabouts, it's impossible to locate a decent café serving more than your typical coffee. Just because there aren't any.

Brew Coffeehouse is a cute neighborhood treasure, nestled in a residential area and away from traffic. Its interior is very relaxed to the eye. As a matter of fact, I was eyeing the cozy-looking sofa they have, and just taking off my shoes and tucking my legs underneath me in a very comfortable position…but, realized, I'm not at home.

Brew Coffeehouse aesthetics are nice and simple. Interior walls have a warm tinge of terra cotta, adding a warmth depth to its environment. A nice showcase of muffins and pastries galore are offered. My eyes were dancing when I saw all their chocolate madness. But, Pat and I came to relax, get to know each other, and if Brew Coffeehouse stands up to the test and see if they offer more than coffee. Alas! We were two happy girls drinking Chai, having a blast and enjoying each other's company!

I'm ecstatic, that a wonderful café such as Brew Coffeehouse honors more than coffee- in the Throgs Neck section-thank goodness! And, additionally, making meaningful friendships and creating new bonds to mingle–for a long time.
