  1. Giving Brinkley's four stars based on the atmosphere and food. Like others though I agree, the service is less than satisfying.

Stumbled upon Brinkley's while in Soho and it looked like a perfect spot for mid afternoon drinks. My friend and I were seated quickly and decided to share a couple "sharers" and cocktails. The mac and cheese is an A +, not too thick and great flavor. I also had fries with a side of chipotle mayo (a must!). The margarita (blood orange) was also good but for $13 may not have been my favorite drink.

The service was great until we received our food. After that point, no one checked on us or came over for our bill for a solid 45 minutes. There was also a very unhappy customer while we were there who walked out because our same server was rude to them. A less than perfect way to end the experience.

I would come back again as I enjoyed the atmosphere and the food was good!

  2. Nice staff. Fast service. Local beers. The atmosphere is dark with large bar top tables by the windows and a large bar against the wall. Nice spot to meet someone for a causal drink.

  3. Nice bartenders, cute place, good location.

Came here for drinks only so I can't comment on the food but good selection of beers and cocktails.

If I'm in the area again I'd definitely go back.

  4. Very bad dinner experience. Got the chicken biscuit and spaghetti and meatballs (Wednesday special). Chicken was so chewy (maybe undercooked?) that I had to spit it out and send it back. Spaghetti was mushy and had no flavor. Also, they couldn't make me a Bloody Mary "because it wasn't brunch time". Adding a star because they were nice enough to take off the charge for the chicken biscuit. Also the place is cute. But I won't be back.

  5. So, bartender was a dream… And they played some pretty awesome music. I kept staring at a gentleman to my right who seemed to have been enjoying a lobster mac n cheese that I wanted to ask for a bite of very much. We had just came from Jane's where we had brunch so I was not hungry enough to warrant another meal, but boy it looked scrumtrulescent.

  6. Decided to stop in for dinner after suit shopping with my fiancé at Indochino down the block. The restaurant had dim lighting, diner-style black and white checkered floors, high tables up front and bar along the middle. The music was relatively loud (but good).

I ordered the spinach and arugula salad with butternut squash, cranberries, pistachios, quinoa, chicken and a shallot vinaigrette. It was delicious and perfectly dressed, but the butternut squash were overly firm.  My fiancé ordered a burger and waffle fries. He was very satisfied with the burger but the portion of waffle fries was a little skimpy. For the price, I would have expected a little more in quantity.  The Oreo cheesecake  for dessert was so so good.

The service, however, was sorely lacking and detracted from my overall experience. From the server being unable to identify the type of beer on the menu to awkward gaps of waiting and completely neglecting to offer us a dessert menu, it took away from what would have been a superb dining experience. At the end, the manager (I think) brought us our check and was very apologetic for our MIA waitress. Although I am usually able to brush it off as an "off-night," the other reviews lead me to believe it's a systemic issue.

Nevertheless, the food and decor at Brinkley's are good and worth stopping by.

Note: I wish Yelp had the option of half stars because I'd rate this one a 3.5.

  7. Brinkley's is one of the rare places I went to without consulting Yelp beforehand.

It's first and foremost definitely a bar, with the smell of the night before (someone else here commented on the smell of booze and bleach) present when walking in. Fortunately, it wasn't too bad as the doors and such were open during brunch.

Service was good; space is also good. I was really impressed with the Egg White Frittata: egg whites, goat cheese, roasted tomatoes & spinach, served with home fries. It's my usual experience either at diners, or even restaurants in general, where egg whites have a runny and generally not fun and fluffy texture. However, this hit the spot. Recommend.

  8. I popped in this afternoon in need of a reprieve from the sudden onset of spring heat and more importantly to charge my iphone.

Staff is very friendly, gladly charged my phone during my meal, and warned me that my sriracha bloody mary may be too spicy and that the bartender would gladly make it to my liking if I disproved.

Is the food anything special? No not really, but its a nice sunny venue tucked away from the bustle of Broadway in SoHo and is reasonably priced. Their weekday happy hour with $6 beverages is actually very reasonable and I'd consider going if I were in the area.

Oh! All this and I forgot to add I tried the chicken avocado sandwich – which was standard, albeit a tad too much aioli (aka mayo for the masses) and the roasted tomato was a nice touch.

I'm not certain I'll be back, but one can never predict when his/her iphone might die, in which case, I'll be back for another spicy sriracha bloody mary.
