  1. Always a good place to eat that's close to home. Try the polenta! The gnocchi are good & I recently had a risotto special that was exquisite. Their pizza is really good too & also a great choice as an appetizer to split. Service is good, not great. The wait staff can come off as rude, but food does arrive at a nice pace. It's a good place to have small affairs or just an intimate evening for two.

  2. A family favorite for a reliable good Italian meal. The biggest downfall of this place is the atmosphere, the way the sound reverberates in the room makes for a very noisy experience even if it's not that busy – which it frequently is on weekends anyway. Some of my personal favorites include the mozzarella carozza with fried zucchini, ossobucco with polenta, gnocchi with fresh mozzarella and their bolognese sauce. Give it a try, its worth it!

  3. I wanted to like this spot more.  For me, service is huge. There are no shortage of Italian restaurants on Staten Island.  Most of them have excellent service.  This place had one of the worst services I've experienced for a finer dining establishment.  We met some friends there who already had drinks.  We weren't offered drinks for about 10 minutes.  We asked for a drink menu, but they don't have one.  My friend ordered a french martini and it was so sweet (mostly juice).  Once the waiter finally returned with our drinks, I then requested menus (is this a stretch wanting menus at a restaurant?).  He quickly (none of us could follow) rambled the specials then ran off. He didn't return till we flagged him down to order.  I asked for a suggestion and he didn't have any opinion.  Also, I asked several times for a water refill (eventually he gave one).  In addition we had to request (beg for) fresh cheese and pepper.

On to the actual food, well we began with the caesar salad.  I liked the flavor.  It was a creamy caesar dressing that tasted homemade.  Then for an entree I had a carbonara style dish made with homemade pasta and truffle oil.  The truffle oil was a great addition.  Overall the dish had a flavorful cream sauce that was complimented by the greens.  Then on to dessert (don't bother asking for a menu because they don't have one). For dessert I had tartufo.  I didn't like their tartufo.  It had a cake center rather than the traditional cherry.  Also, it just didn't taste like a high quality ice cream.

The people I went with and I don't plan to return.  Service is big.
