“the food was really good, the highlight is the korzo burger, get it deep fried and you will not regret it!”

“Recommend: Bloody Mary (or one of the rotating drafts), chicken schnitzel, and the Kremes dessert if they have it.”

“So when I walked in to find the farms and what they contributed to the restaurant on the chalkboard, I was basically sold.”

  1. Obviously, go hungry and go for the Korzo burger. It is juicy and delicious. The beet salad was refreshing but not amazing and I wouldn't order it next time because it was an amateur salad with a sub par dressing. Fries are addictive. Mushroom ravioli were really good, and the 3 of us usually don't even like mushrooms. Bacon wrapped dates were good and plenty. The bartender is cool and so is the server, they will make you a custom Martini. Early in the week is not as busy, so if you want to wait around, go on the weekend.

  2. Let it be known, I'm not into beets. So when my friend mentioned this place I was like, fack no. But then I saw the same owners of Korzo run this spot and that place has been on my list for awhile, so away we go. Or I go, since you didn't come with me. Or went since, ya know, happened already.

    Food:
The original Korzo, medium rare, deep fried = delicious. Super juicy, flavor packed & the onions and bacon give it that extra oomph. Definitely get this. The fried dough holds up well and enables you to eat a juicy burger without having a soggy bun or juice drenched fingers (cuz ew). The homemade spicy sauce is great with it. Fries are decent. Beet ketchup was interesting, but I'll stick to the spicy sauce.

The Slav – eh, compared to the Korzo this just isn't worth getting and I thought it was just okay. Aka if you are going to try two burgers, skip this one.

Also had the pickle plate which my friend really enjoyed (I found it not bad, but it's basically just some pickled veggies) so I guess if you are into that def get it.

Drinks: the So Slo was a nice spin on an old fashioned. Very smooth, almost a touch too sweet, but I could see drinking a few of these VERY easily. The Coney Island pilsner was decent too.

Overall: the original Korzo is worth coming here for and I'd probably try some other things (dumplings!). Ambiance has a nice local feel to it with large shareable tables, service was pretty good. There's a backyard as well but I didn't check it out. Thumbs up.

  3. I would rate Brooklyn Beet Company four and a half stars.

The food is fantastic. We started off by sharing the mushroom-herb filled dumplings (perogies). They were topped off with asiago and scallions. The dish was was very savory. I highly recommend it.

For my main course, I had the Chef korzo burger. Essentially, it looked like a mini beef Wellington. The korzo was filled with Hungarian peppers, bacon, and monterey jack. It had a great balance of savoriness, spiciness, and saltiness. I requested the burger be prepared rare, and it came out perfect! The meat was so juicy!

The Brooklyn Beet offers an intriguing selection of craft cocktails. They also had a few solid craft beers on tap.

The front of the house is seriously understaffed. They had two employees who were responsible for hosting, waiting, running, busing, and bartending. It was too much of a burden for just two employees.

  4. Husband and I tried this place tonight and we were totally delighted. The atmosphere is cosy and the food is pretty incredible, without being fussy or pretentious.

I had the pork schnitzel that came with garlic confit potatoes (pretty standard mash) and a delightful roasted squash salad with roasted beets. The schnitzel was both tender and crispy and tasted incredible with the beet ketchup and homemade hot sauce! The salad was pretty special and the bits of fresh mint in the dressing turned what would normally be fall ingredients into a lovely spring salad.

My husband had the original korzo burger with fries and coleslaw. He raved about the burger, was OK on the French fries and didn't eat the Cole slaw….but I did! The Cole slaw is delicious!

I would have loved to try the appetizers or the desserts but I'm 9 months pregnant and have very little room to fit anything more in there!

As I am pregnant I was unable to try the cocktails, but my husband loved the home brew beer.

I look forward to coming back..probably next time with our baby in her carrier and we can sit out on the gorgeous patio.

Be warned, the restaurant is small, most tables are communal, so come early and be prepared to wait. It is well worth it!

  5. Absolutely phenomenal. Has a range of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options.

Had the mushroom dumplings as an appetizer and they were fantastic. Simple, somewhat subtle, but great flavor. For dinner I shared the beet burger and the duck confit sandwich. The beer burger came in fried dough. It was really good…much better than I expected frankly. I would order it again.

The duck confit sandwich, however, stole the show. I think there was some cranberry sauce on it and it tasted like holiday heaven. The duck was so tender and juicy. The mixed greens on the side were solid and the fries/potato wedges have great texture…super crispy…the beer ketchup also paired well. Beer selection here is a little limited, but that's okay. They have some wine and cocktails as well. I'll be back soon!

  6. Burgers for brunch? I'm down! Had the original korzo burger and it truly is a one of a kind burger, which I will be coming back for more. Its bun is deep fried and perfectly cut in half, showing off the perfectly cooked meat inside. It is juicy, flavorful, and has the right crunches from the pickle and other condiments included. On the side are both the beet ketchup and hot sauce which is not overwhelming so that you can enjoy the korzo burger to its fullest extent.

I also got the flatbread with cocoa-hazelnut spread on top (tastes a lot like nuttella), and fruits on top and it was amazing as well. My biggest fear when ordering such decadent dishes is that it'll be too sweet, but this was perfect. The flatbread looks like a pancake but looks can be deceiving. So if you're looking over to the next table, wishing that you ordered pancakes and you ordered the flatbread instead, fret not.

The space here is very intimate and tiny. Tables will probably be shared and the environment is essentially communal. Long wooden tables for people to sit around. Can't wait to try their other burgers and indulge in brunch!

  7. I had a pretty nice and chill Monday night dinner here a few weeks ago.
Started with some kind of Pineapple Jalapeno Tequila drink… nice.
I ordered the Veggie Borscht, which was like Beet Borscht without Fat in it. This was ok , because I ordered the Chicken Schnitzel, which I loved.   I couldn't finish it and it held up well when I got the munchies later on.  This also had beets underneath the cutlet.
Comfort food with some detox aid, I was proud that I didn't jutt go for the Burger as I had expected, I saw something I liked and ordered that,      I want it and I will come back to try it.

  8. The service is great, burgers are awesome and wine was tasty. Come here with an empty stomach as the burgers are massive (and the buns are deep fried and wrapped around the meat!) downside? It's small and we felt like we were being obnoxious to others, there was five of us so it was a bit loud. It was also very, very cold. But, regardless, we'll be back!
