  1. Had the Chicken Thai wrap. Pretty filling wrap of white meat chicken, carrots, carmelized onions  roasted pepper and avocado with a Ginger Soy dressing. Held together well which is sometimes an issue when I eat wraps. It was a good wrap, my coworker got the Philly Cheese Steak and was quite enchanted by it so I guess they will be added to our lunch delivery line up.

  2. Every now and then, I crave a blueberry bagel with butter….and years ago I discovered the deliciousness that is whitefish (on a regular bagel of course!). This is where I order delivery on the weekend — usually taking the blueberry bagel route, and ordering a container whitefish for later. SO GOOD.

  3. I'll admit it: I'm lazier than most at the best of times. Throw in a hangover and a wind-chill temperature in the single digits, there's no chance you're getting me out of my apartment before 10 am. But bacon cravings wait for no man.

Brothers Bagels will, after I push a few buttons on the magical device I keep at my bedside, deliver a bacon, egg and cheese on an everything bagel to my door. And they will do it quickly, and fairly cheaply.

These Brothers also stock many different types of excellent cream cheese (including the vegan tofu spreads) that they will schmear on their decent bagels for you, or deliver in increments of 1/4 lbs. I would prefer more everything on the everything bagels, but otherwise my bagel experiences have been good.

What I cannot recommend, however, is their whitefish salad. I ordered some recently, and it was…off. Not rancid. If I was starving, I certainly would've eaten it before I would consider killing rats and/or cannibalism. But it was unfresh enough that I threw it out, rather than risk anything.

  4. I ordered breakfast from this spot when my parents were in town and we were all really happy with what we got. I ordered the pancakes and they were so fluffy they almost tasted like cake. Really happy with that choice. My dad got a bagel and an omelette and the bagel came super fresh so he was really happy with his choice as well. The only comment I would make is be  really specific when you are ordering online because the bagel came without being toasted. I know its a minor detail but thought it would be a helpful tip.

  5. Went here for the first time today. It's a new place and I remember passing by in the past as they were renovating for this new business. And it's modern with a quaint vibe- the unique looking ceiling fans with dark brown blades which keep the air circulated; both good during the heat wave of summer AND to move around the air from their fresh cooking. It's also clean- didn't see any dark spots or horrendous grease stains- and spacious, given the area where there are so many stores, shops, and restaurants.

There are about three single tables that can fit two people, max, and a booth up against the brick wall (I love that look, made it feel homey but also kind of trendy), with a small TV on the wall. I didn't venture much further in, but the lighting was bright overall, the walls were painted a vibrant and lively green, and it had a comfortable vibe. I imagine it can get crowded during certain hours of the days and there isn't that much seating so I don't recommend it as an establishment to linger and sit around. It's more of a place where you place your order and then head out.

Now the food can take awhile, but that's because everything is cooked fresh. Not just burgers or other hot foods, but even paninis, they're not pre-assembled and stored, and then thrown onto the press. No, these guys take out the flatbread right in front of you and, for my veggie panini, they sauteed the veggies in plain sight. No shady business, all in the open, which I can appreciate as a customer. I've worked in the food industry before and sometimes it's appalling what goes on behind the kitchen, but this is just honest work, cooking veggies, grilling up a burger, etc.

As for the actual taste of the food, here's the breakdown:

-Macaroni salad-  a lot of mayo and thus bland.

-Veggie panini- bread was crispy and slightly burned, which I tend to like, but it overpowered the veggies a bit, which didn't have much flavor to begin with. That's not a problem for me, because I don't like having extra salt and pepper thrown onto my food- I want to taste the natural flavors. It was a bit sloppy too, coming apart, the vegetables and cheese oozing out, but I think it's because of the moisture that vegetables emit and they give you a hearty portion rather than a ton of cheese to keep it all packed together.
Overall, I liked this panini- I got hearty strips of red peppers, onions, and portabello mushrooms. I rarely see those kind of mushrooms in paninis, mainly because they are more costly.

-Texas burger and fries: delicious fries. Crispy on the outside, soft potatoe-y on the inside, not burnt or dry or stale because of old oil it was cooked in. The burger itself was mediocre. Not a lot of flavor in their patty. However, they know how to cook it right. I requested medium rare and was pleasantly surprised to see the pink inside.

A great establishment, with friendly customer service. A bit disorganized since more than one person behind the counter asks if you need help, even as you're being helped. It's mostly because if things are being cooked fresh, the person serving you initially walks away and I supposed they don't want anyone just standing and waiting there. Overall, it's a good thing they try to be so attentive, even if the customer ends up repeating themselves to different people.

For bagel lovers- In general their bagels looked very hearty and dense. I imagine one would be extremely filling! Especially if you were to try it with their pretty varied assortment of cream cheeses- scallion, tofu and scallion, jalapeno, blueberry, etc- you won't go hungry in the morning.

As we were paying, a guy saw me eyeing the display case of bagels and croissants. Croissants were HUGE and looked fluffy and fresh, even if it was past 3pm in the afternoon. And they had a rainbow colored bagel and a French toast bagel- something I hadn't ever heard of before. They ended up giving us those two bagels for free, something for us to try. I have to say, I really, really appreciated it that. I mean, in the end they would have to throw out old bagels rather than reselling them and giving a new customer a taste is memorable and makes them want to come back. Food doesn't always have to be fantastic; we prefer that it is, but customer service is something you will always smile and think about. I know I will come back for the hearty food, clean space, and to laugh and joke around with the down to earth workers. I prefer a place like this over a 5 star restaurant and dealing with a snotty ass waiter or waitress with a stick lodged up their ass, because they think they're better than you.

  6. I would come back. Bagels are good and fresh. Got a bacon egg and cheese on an onion bagel because it's Sunday Funday! Love pigging out! 🙂
