My 2nd favorite pizza place within 5 minute driving distance from me!
It's located on a shopping complex in which there's a huge Big Lots! store, so you can't miss it! Bruno's occupies the space right next to Big Lots!, and from the outside, it looks tiny. But wait until you get inside! There are 2 parts of the restaurant, front and back. The front seating area is kind of more casual and perfect if you just go on your own/a party of two. But if you bring the whole gang, the back area has more than plenty of seating.
We went here on a Saturday dinner time and boy their three phones never stopped ringing. Delivery orders just kept on coming in and I kinda figured out they must be that good! The garlic bread was top notch. Cordon bleu sandwich is so good feels like it just melts right into your mouth. Eggplant as well as grilled pepper&tomato sandwiches are great options for the health-conscientious.
Not much to say but
Best. Sicilian. Slice. Ever.
I have been eating at Bruno's for over 25 years. Besides their Sicilian pizza, which as is the general consensus here, spectacular I am amazed how Rich and Mike never seem to age. What's up with that? Does their pizza contain some special secret anti aging properties? Anyway, I moved out of their immediate area about 15 years ago but I still regularly make the trip there. There must be 2 dozen pizza places between here and there but none comes close. On a side note, their waitresses also cannot be beat. My father, who basically hates just about every pizza place on the planet besides Patsy's in Paterson himself, will make the 8 mile drive to pick up a pie. An amazing thing in and of itself. The best.
I am giving this place a 5 star rating based on the square plain slices alone! So apparently this place is ranked #6 in NJ.com'a greatest pizza places ever, or something like that.
So I came here with a friend, Lo and behold, I was impressed. Simple and fresh ingredients make any dish.
I will come back here again and order two more square slices.
Can't believe it took me this long to try this place. The garlic bread is one of the best in Jersey, and is a must try. Ordered the chicken cordon bleu sub and it was amazing. They put gravy on it on top and adds to the great taste. Perfect amount of ham, chicken and cheese and it filled me up. Not many sandwiches can fill me up with my big appetite. Will definitely come back soon.
Although I am NOT a fan of Sicilian pizza, I had to try it here due to other raving reviews. I'm more of a thin crust type of gal, so this was something out of the norm for me.
The Sicilian pie took a good 20 minutes until it was ready to devour, was 10 slices and costs $17.65. First impression, I was not impressed. Although it was thick and large it was lacking a key element, CHEESE!!! The entire pie was flooded with tomato sauce, but it was very fresh maybe even homemade and topped with oregano. The pie was done very sloppy, mind you I got this on a weekday, it had too much sauce and not enough cheese. I didn't get to indulge on hot, gooey, melty goodness so that affected the rating heavily. The dough was nice, soft and really good!
For a pie costing nearly $18 is a bit high for my wallet. Considering its just bread, sauce and cheese, well the lack there of, is not worth it for me. Pizza used to be cheap but not anymore, I miss the good old days when it was under $2 a slice with toppings. Anyhow, this pizza wasn't bad, but I'd recommend asking for extra cheese although it'll break at least a $20 from your wallet.
I wasn't totally impressed. I just got a pizza from them and the presentation was something less to be desired. It was a half olive/ mushroom and cheese pizza. The olives were totally concentrated on one freakishly huge oddly cut slice. I liked the pizza, but it was alright. One time I got a perfect hot seasoned pizza, but I guess they're not consistent. It literally would take the chef an extra two seconds to properly even out my olives and mushrooms.
Ah memories. I used to come here after my middle school dances. That one slice was delicious and hit the spot. Service was good too from what I remember. Haven't been since but will soon!
