My gf and I came here after chillin' out on the Riverside Drive promenade. It's a trendy spot – architecturally and crowd wise. We stepped right in at peak party time. DJ spinnin' and dance area packed – it was 9pm. Found seats across from the bar. I ordered a "Bright Lady" and Mac & Cheese; my gf got wings. My drink was superb. The Mac extremely bland and for crying out loud it was shells…shells y'all. Could've used elbow, rotini even cavatappi but shells. (I've been having poor M&C experiences for a while now) May need to retain from having it at restaurants til some improvements occur. My pal liked her chicken, said it was crispy & spicy. This place (just like the place in my previous review) is a "once is enough" spot.
This resturant is everything… I have to come back for brunch flow!! I was visiting the area, by way of Time Square but really from Washington DC…and I decided to pop in. This resturant is literally right BY THE HUDSON, hence BTH… right off 125th station baby! Below the Cotton Club!
Anywho, I came in around 5, too early for dinner too late for lunch menu. I sat at the bar and was greeted by ARY. Ary is such a spirit. We talked and talked for a good while – while waiting on my food. He was a wonderful bartender/server!
Since they were in between lunch and dinner switch I ordered drinks and calamari and wings. All delish. I'm definitely going back to BTH for brunch with friends soon. After my quick meal I headed across the street to Pier Park to watch the sun set over the Hudson Fabtastic!!
Went here for weekend brunch. We arrived around noon. It was half empty. Within an hour the place was full of patrons. I recommend getting there early. The server was friendly and efficient. Our meals were very good. They had a live DJ. His song selection was great, however, I thought it was too loud for brunch time. I would recommend turning down the music a bit during the day. Will definitely return. Prices were reasonable.
Been here for dinner and Sunday brunch and had a great experience both times.
For dinner, went around 6p on a weekday and it was very quiet. People started trickling in after 7ish, but for the most part the restaurant was ours (GREAT!). Perhaps that attributed to the on point service. Our waitress was a sweetheart. I ordered the Miso Glazed Tofu –not on the online menu — which was delightful. Hopefully they keep this entree around as vegetarian options are limited.
For brunch, went around 2p. Reservation was easy peasey via Yelp Seat Me. My friend was 40 minutes late (super side eye!) but the hostess was most gracious enough to save our table (thanks Hun).
Food came out quickly. We both loved our breakfast entrees: I had the Omelette Florentine (sans meat). Friend had Steak and Eggs. It can get very costly if you deviate from the brunch special ($35 w/unlimited mimosas or sangria), so be careful. That was a lesson we learned after ordering a $58 pitcher of Ciroc Punch and mac and cheese side. Said pitcher is actually a glass carafe, so the serving is smaller than you'd get with an actual pitcher. However the mix was potent and good enough to get 2 people lit, so I'd say it was well worth the $58. The mac and cheese however left much to be desired. Not sure if what we tasted was hints of nutmeg, but whatever that spice was, no bueno!
The scene: quite loud, but that is to be expected and it is what we wanted. Music was a great mix of hip hop and R&B. Not exactly a day party turn up sesh (perhaps when it gets warmer) but good enough for a great Sunday Brunch vibes. I'll definitely be back in the summer!
Parking: there's a lot behind the restaurant. $10 special with validation stamp from restaurant. Super convenient as street parking is a PITA in this area
So I came here to celebrate my friends birthday and I must say the food was delish. We had reservations for 2pm but arrived a little early. We were seated right away. The brunch menu had so many yummy options to choose from. Their lobster Mac and cheese was a hit and I plan to travel all the way back to Harlem just for that lol. On another note- I thought it was cool that they are willing to accommodate vegans (this was mentioned on the bottom of the menu ). The only thing I was bummed about was that I was expecting somewhat of a turn up on a Saturday! No DJ, no turn up at all. All good tho I guess I'll just have to go back 🙂
Just leaving from an amazing dining experience at BTH. I had seen several friends post pics about this restaurant and tonight was date night with my husband and I. We wanted to keep it local in Harlem so we didn't have a far journey home. I made reservations online via OpenTable because I didn't know how packed they are on the weekday evening.
I arrived 8pm for my reservation time. It wasn't busy or packed during this time. I think they may have been 3 tables there when I arrived. My husband was arriving late so I opted to sit at the bar until he arrived. The bartender made my drink as instructed and was pretty personable as well. While sitting that the bar I got a chance to look around the restaurant. The decor was rather modern and trendy and these oversize looking sofas that had tall backs. Along with great decor they have an amazing view of the Hudson. If you are on an intimate date I would recommend making reservations during sunset time.
Finally my husband arrived and we were seated. For the appetizers we started with were catfish tempura and lobster mac n cheese. My husband selected the catfish tempura which had beautiful presentation and tasted great. I selected the Lobster mac n cheese and it wasn't the best I had tasted but it was definitely good. I liked that it had rather large pieces of lobster in it. For my entree I ordered the Scallops dish and it was so filling due to the fact it had risotto. My husband offered the Salmon dish which was some of the best salmon I had at a restaurant and I have had a lot.
The service was extraordinary as well. Our server was attentive, kind, and personable as well. She told us about their weekend events an the best times to arrive since they fill up fast.
I will be returning soon and thank you BTH for an awesome dining experience.
I love the restaurant's location and the ambiance. The food was good but not amazing. The fish paired with a bean curd was off with flavor. Maybe paired the fish with a different side. I should have got the prime rib. This was my second visit. The drinks are a little over priced for Harlem and are not amazing that I would want a second.
BTH, better known as By The Hudson, was totally not on my agenda for the weekend. I was pleasantly surprised by this place that sits very near the legendary "Cotton Club"!
One of my best friends invited me to brunch with him and a few of our mutual friends at BTH. I never heard of this place but bring the consummate Yelper that I am, I jumped at the opportunity to try a new place.
The Sunday brunch at By The Hudson is a complete turn up and the fact that it has a views of the Hudson River is an added bonus. I'm not sure what the rest of the week is like but Sunday was amazing. I arrived a little after 3pm and two birthday parties were going on and this made the atmosphere very festive. The staff was very attentive to our party as we eased into our evening of celebration.
I had the Shrimp with Pawns and many of my friends has the chicken and waffles. One of my friends had the eggs-side salad-and potatoes. Everyone enjoyed their meals and vowed to return at a later date.
I highly recommend BTH!!
