Buddy’s Burrito & Taco Bar
“My husband and I split an El Grande with extra meat and are both super full at the end for about $10.”
“I'll definitely order from here again (and before california taqueria), but no more guac unless they find some avocados somewhere and start using them.”
“The thing that I simply love though is that all of the grilled meat (like the chicken and pork) is grilled to order.”

The burritos from here are massive!!!! And weigh more than my dog! The chicken & steak together are delicious! I love that they put cheese in the burritos, wish they delivered to Park Slope but they don't. All these years, and I've never had a complaint, burritos came be shared, no way one person can eat a whole one.
I dig this place. The burrito I had was so big I couldnt eat the whole thing! Thats a big-ass burrito…
They have plenty of options and everything I have had there has been very tasty. No frills. Sorta a dirty chipotle.
Be weary of the hot sauce. That stuff will smack your ass and call your susie. Dont say I didnt warn you.
When I ordered 2 tacos and a water, I was surprised that the bill was around $8. It seemed a bit high.
But then I told the cook I didn't want tortillas, as I'm on a low carb diet. As such, he delivered a big plate of carne asada and carnitas with greens, which was a decent amount of food for the price. The meats were nice, though I'm not sure if this taco salad is typically offered.
I didn't venture into the beans, guac and other things that can distinguish eateries, so it might gain a star on future visits.
The steak burrito here was to die for. That's some quality steak in a quality burrito and for a bargain. The burrito was huge and every nook and cranny was filled. The beans, rice, steak and cheese melted together perfectly. Topped with the salsas they give you, I just drooled a little writing this review. Seriously stop by for a quick lunch break, order and take it to go. Shoot, order 2 and save one for later. Everyone compares the smaller shops to Chipotle but I like both. Buddy's burritos are definitely softer and has a more melt in your mouth feel. I enjoyed every last bite of my burrito.
This is definitely a no frills shop and it doesn't pretend to be otherwise. My vegetarian burrito came quick and it was the size of my head. The line quickly picked up after I put in my order.
Reasonable priced for what I think is standard mexican food. If I'm in the neighbourhood and my stomach is grumbling, I'd be back at Buddy's.
So yeah, we were so hungry that we went next door to grab something to eat…either it's the best burrito I've ever had or we were so freakin' hungry that everything tasted phenomenal!
Carne al Vapor burrito was amazing! There was delicious tender meat, and amazing guacamole just doused in salsa and wrapped in the lightest tortilla. Ironically we didn't get any tacos…I'm not really much of a taco person anyway. But I'm sure I might change my mind if I had one of theirs! (Gives me a reason to go back again on the next trip.)
The location is great, open atmosphere and easy to get to from the street. You can dine in or get it to-go.
Yelping admission: Forgive me, but I was so hungry I didn't even care to take a photos!! But it's massive!! GINORMOUS! Hoking huge! – I still finished it though – yeah that's right, I devoured it. 😛
Ok, so I read all the reviews before coming to this place and none of them do it justice.
YES, IT IS HOT IN HERE. Nelly would be thrilled. There are fans spinning but no AC and during a NY heat wave that's kind of a bummer, but honestly, it doesn't take away from the amazingness of the steak burrito I just consumed.
I watched the man behind the counter cook up my perfectly marinated steak. It's piping hot and juicy as hell. I ordered the Buddy's Gourmet Burrito with steak (8.44 including tax) which comes with medium spicy steak, guacamole, cheese, and salsa. There were huge tomatoes and chunks of onions in the burrito, it tasted fresh and delicious.
So please give this place a shot. Seriously, do it for the steak.
My favorite Mexican spot in the area. Order at counter, they'll prepare your order and you pick up at the other end. Set up like Chipotle, but Buddy's has better food in terms of quality, taste, and portion.
I usually go for the various burritos they have on offer. Regardless of your choice, the burrito will be stuffed with freshly grilled meat of choice, guacamole, salsa, and shredded cheese yet well wrapped (I always hold on the beans). Since the burrito is void of the usual carb fillers (rice, beans), meat is packed in. The burrito will also be longer than the provided plate.
I randomly had the spinach quesadilla once, will eat again. Usually not a fan of quesadilla, but do like spinach rolls and such. The spinach is well seasoned and sautéed, wrapped alongside with cheese, was a joy to eat.
Never had the tacos and oddly enough, the guacamole with chips. I guess it's because I'm fixated on their nachos if I'm craving chips. The nachos are definitely layered with ingredients, not just topped. Also nachos are most definitely entrée sized, not appetizer sized.
Service is friendly, only interacted with cashier though. Sauces are available at pick up area and some hot sauces are located on tables. However the place is a bit dingy, which I usually don't mind, but it's dingy in a dirty kind of way. Like sticky floor, tables had only been wiped with water in its entire lifetime kind of way. Don't let that turn you away though.
