  1. I have been here twice in last month. Once at the outdoor bar, once at the indoor restaurant.  My overall impression of this place is that it's a hidden gem. Right next to McDonald's on the bay side of Beach 92.

This place gets crowded on weekends, but worth it to go. The outdoor bar and outdoor restaurant have great views of the bay. Great spot for people watching too. Indoors was way too loud for me and not a great place for conversation. I have had their frozen lemonade with vodka, the sangria, a classic margarita with salt, and an alcoholic lemonade. Their frozen lemonade was my favorite. The margarita was good, but all ice. Cocktails are around $8 to $10.

This place has a lot of seafood so it smells fishy at times. Lobster, oyster, shrimp cocktail seem to be what people order the most of. As for me, I had their spinach and artichoke dip with pita bread which is excellent and filling.

If you have a boat (cause really who doesn't), just pull to the dock and grab some grub for the road!

  2. This bar reminds me so much of POPS minus the sand! Great atmosphere & great drinks. If you dont feel like driving down to Long Islands nautical mile or POPS (long beach area) come here!! Its local to the queens residents. The bar tenders are soo soo friendly & they dont cheap you on the liquor. I got the pineapple express and it was yummy. Real slices of pineapple inside of it so it makes the drink extra fruity which i loved. Def will be returning.

    10/10 drinks
    5/10 parking (tight parking)
    10/10 bar tenders/ customer service

  3. This was a decent spot considering that the Rockaways can be a tough spot to find something to eat.

A 20-minute wait for a table inside on a crowded Father's Day Sunday. 40-minute wait outside. Standard, I suppose.

    Pros:
    -Service was friendly
    -Bar while you wait
-Right on the water – nice for sunset
-DJ outside gave it a nice energy – though Ice Ice Baby has probably run its course.
-Burgers and Mussels were very good

    Cons:
-Kitchen got backed up. Understandable, but probably something that could have been predicted and avoided, no?
-Want more bread with that? That'll be $1.50. Nickle and dimeing.
-There's a $10 burger option, and after that the entrees go way up in price. I think the cheapest meal after that was was $22 and they go up from there.
    -Fries were lousy

So I'd come back for a burger, but not much else. And, I'd do it on an off-peak time.

  4. Three of my friends and I came to Bungalow Bar around 130pm on  a Sunday afternoon, we were waiting on a 5th person who was stuck at work, which we told the hostess and she said that was fine.
The four of us sat in the deck, ordered drinks and than ordered food. After eating we still sat there and kept ordering round after round of drinks. About 5pm one of the managers comes over to our table and asked when our fifth person would be there because they had a wait. She than asked if we would close out our tab, put our name on the list to be re seated, and wait at the bar until our new table was ready. None of us wanted to do that being that we were sitting there ordering drinks and spending so much money but we  didn't want to cause any problems. The waitress brings the check and as we were paying it, the pager goes off that our new table is ready.
I went into the woman who said she was the general manager and asked if we could stay at the same table, since the new table she wanted us to move to for the same amount of people is ready..She than got so nasty with me. I dont know how she can be the GM if she has 0 people skills, or can't work under pressure..she told us to stay there and than walked away from me. I'm assuming she than realized how rude she was because she bought the table a round of drinks and was than coming over to check if everything was okay.
Other than the incident with the GM, the food was great and our waitress was really attentive and very nice. Bungalow Bar would of got 5 stars if it wasn't for that whole incident, and because of that I don't think any of us would be returning here.

  5. This place is always packed even in the winter when Rockaway hunkers down for the season. The food is just okay for me but they do have some interesting drink mixes which are a must-try. Beware of the bar area tho- the bartenders always have an attitude and they charge too much for a well drink.

Their outdoor deck is wonderful in the summer and it's a good place to sit and take in the view of Cross Bay.

  6. nice stop after a day at rockaway beach before hitting the bridge back to the mainland.

  7. The food here is fantastic, service is a little slow on the weekends.  I think we had a new server.  Started off with the fried mac and cheese balls which were amazing!!!!  I had the signature burger, which came with blue cheese, Caramelized onions and chipotle mayo.  The "smooth sailor" drinks is delicious if you like gin!  Ended our meal with a brownie a la mode!  Would definitely recommend on a beautiful night because it's right on the water with a gorgeous view.

  8. If you're looking for a crazy party scene in the Rockaways, devoid of the hipsters you may find elsewhere, THIS IS YOUR PLACE. Had a really nice light dinner here with some nice wine and then we were all, Now what? So the nice bartender sent us to the Irish bar, and told us to come back after ten. And that's when we got. it. popping. Everything from pop to dance hall reggae with a diverse crowd of old and young and all sorts of people. What a blast. Will be back!!
