As soon as I got a chance to go to Smorgasburg earlier this summer, I made a beeline to the Burma Noodle Bar. Their kao swe thoke (noodle salad) definitely did not disappoint! It was a very decent serving for the price and filled me up more than I expected to. Suffice it to say that the flavors were on point and completely delicious, and the texture of the noodle salad was delectable. The ability to adjust the spiciness on your own is an added bonus. Service is as good as you can get at a food stand. Lines were never long and the owner was really friendly. If you're in love with Burmese food like I am or just curious about it, get to Burma Noodle Bar at Smorgasburg immediately! You won't regret it. I can't wait until they open a storefront!
After a couple laps around the food options at Industry City, I settled on Burma Noodle Bar.
I asked the staff what the most popular dish they had, and she suggested the Coconut Curry Chicken Noodles. The bowl was $9, and for the size of the serving, it was definitely reasonable – it definitely fills you up even if you're starving. The noodles were bathed in a yellow curry sauce, and served with chicken, sliced raw red onions, and an egg. I mistakenly thought the curry base was a bit mild and bland at first, but when the bowl was mixed together, it really came alive with the red pepper flakes and the red onion. The noodles were quite unique – very large in diameter (slightly larger than udon noodles?), but very springy and easy to tear apart. Altogether the thing was delicious! Definitely want to come back and sample the rest of their dishes!
