When your friend tells you to skip this place and just opt for a late night bodega sammich, just take her dang advice.
Needed a lil somethin' somethin' to fill my alcohol belly. Should have been weary that only the Mexican food was prominently displaced. Tipsy decisions always lead to bad decisions.
I had the lamb shawarma that to my delight was stuffed to the max in a huge pita. Sadly, all that potential was lost on the lack of flavor. My sister had a quesadilla that was wet. No other way to describe it. Yuck!
Bodega sammich next time for sure.
There is not a thing I don't like about this place. Their food is great. I usually get a burrito or quesadilla and the portions are huge and the food is always incredible. The guys there are always so nice and happy to serve you and it is super convenient for me. Definitely my go-to late night spot when i want something filling and cheesy.
For me, Bushwick Pita Palace is the ideal spot to meet friends by the Montrose L stop and get fortified before going thrifting. It has great vegan options and a clean restroom. And if we want dessert there's Dun-Well vegan donuts across the street (no restroom there). I LOVE the big vegan menu section and the many other items that are vegan or can be made vegan. They have on a regular basis–not just occasionally or until they run out–soy cheese, vegan sour cream, vegan chicken & beef, tofu, etc. The food is healthy, tastes great and is served in ample satisfying portions at reasonable prices. The owner and other staff are very friendly and helpful.
A classic Bushwick establishment and my go-to for delicious Mexican and Middle Eastern favorites. They have an extensive vegan menu which includes a variety of burritos, quesadillas, nachos, salads, tacos, and more. Their faux chicken is some of the best I've tasted. Made in house, the flavor and texture is perfect, and I recommend it to veggies and omnivores alike.
I love everything here, but my top favorites are:
-Vegan chicken quesadilla
-Vegan beef nachos
-Falafel burrito
-Fries
Delivery is extremely fast and always so friendly. The restaurant itself is divey but charming. Great selection of Jarritos. Go here-you will NOT be disappointed.
Walking to one of the best beer bars in NYC, The Well, this is a perfect place for an easy bite.
My friend got the beef enchiladas, $7.50. Huge plate with meat, tortilla, sauce covering that, and cheese, with a side of salad and a plate of rice and beans. A two meal job ideally.
For the same price, 3 stuffed tacos with meat. Each of the meats were slow cooked, spiced well, and flavorful. Tortillas were a chewy and bland, unlike a true fresh corn tortilla, but the tacos do their job. Loaded with the meats, beans, cheese, pico, and a good helping of lettuce.
The menu is way more diverse than that. They have falafel, shwarma, and other Middle Eastern options, which I should enjoy next time.
Cheap, made to order, and quick.
To put it simply, it's not bad but it's not the best. In the end, it's there when you need it and that's what matters.
Came here @ 1AM late as hell. The owner was in a mad mood couldn't tell if he was just tired or busy with orders.
I ignored his attitude and ordered the chicken plate and it came out in 10 minutes.
The chicken taste was very generic and bit too burnt tasting. The hummus was good I must say. The rice was stale and you could tell it was not fresh at all.
I also got a cheese cake and it was alright nothing spectacular.
The prices are a tad bit high for what this place is, but then again it's in bushwick Ave and is open late.
Eh, I wasn't really impressed. My friend and I ordered from here on seamless and it had pretty good reviews. The food was cheap so we ordered a few things for delivery. First of all, they got our order for nachos completely wrong but offered to remake them and bring them back after giving us some attitude. When they did come, the melted cheese was already cold and not great.
I had a falafel sandwich and while the falafel and toppings were good, I actually did not like the pita. It was weirdly moist and tasted more like a bun. My friend was unimpressed with her shawarma. The best thing I ordered was a guacamole taco, which I would stick to if I ended up here again. I don't live in the area but I'd consider giving them another shot.
