  1. This is my go-to place for cold cuts and meats. Their selection of meats is staggering, and they also have a decent variety of prepared foods (e.g., wings, shepherd's pie). Butcher Block also has a great selection of chips and snacks, though stick to somewhere else for produce and dairy. Overall, I'm blessed a deli like this is so close to my apartment.

  2. Just popped in to grab some ' Irish bangers ' for a toad in the hole I was making .

Its def not glitz and glam like Whole foods but its quality food and cheap ..

Sausages were great , all though I think the Pork shop irish sausages in hells kitchen might be slightly better .

I'm going back for sure to explore.

  3. First I gotta say their sausage roll surprised the crap out of me, in a good way.

I swear looking at the sausage roll, it looked like nothing. I took one bite and I was in greasy heaven. It was real sausage meat shaped into a long patty inside the pastry $2 Awesome! It is delicious, albeit greasy but it's SAUSAGE! Be careful it's hot and juicy.

I have come here for their plates all the time. Today I got the chicken cutlet plate that came with two large breaded chicken cutlets and two sides. I just opted for mashed potatoes for the two sides. I also asked for extra gravy. It lasted for two huge meals, all for $8! Tasted good to me. It can actually feed 2-3 people or last 2-3 meals.

I've had their roast beef, roasted turkey breast & ham, sirloin with onions plates which I all enjoyed. I also tried their roasted stuffed pork loin but that was a bit too dry for me. The chicken supreme is a "mini" chicken loaf topped with a mushroom cream sauce. I tried one bite and it just needs a little salt but its good too.

If dairy didn't bother me so much I would have tried their chicken pot pie by now, $5.95.

My boss had the lasagne twice and scarfed it down both times. He must have really enjoyed it! Its a very large portion of lasagne for $8.

I come here all the time for their plates during lunch. They serve food for dinner too but your choices will dwindle as the day goes on. And I feel like the food is freshest during lunch. They have different plates on the menu according to the day of the week.

  4. No doubt the only place to get a fresh roast beef sandwich in Sunnyside Queens!!  When the meat is rare, I am in heaven, some salt, pepper, coleman mustard, and a little mayo on a hero!!  Yummy!!!  Their meatloaf has gotten better, before it was just overwhelming with onions!!  Now, the last time there were not that many onions and they were cut down to tiny bits otherwise its terrible, unless you are an onion lover.  I like their meatloaf sandwich.  They gut the top of the roll like a wheel and fill it with gravy and then add a large slice of meatloaf then close the sandwich with the bottom of the roll and wrap it up in foil which allows the flavors to blend, now can you visualize the delicious mess when you bite into this meatloaf sandwich.

On Friday's I am a big fan of their crispy crunchy cod fish with chips.  I really enjoy their Friday soup of the day which is a seafood chowder which is so lightly creamy, but still made with cream filled with chunks of fish and some veggie goodies, I am not sure what some of the veggies are because once in a while you can scoop up a spoonful of soup and it can be ridiculously spicy but I think it works perfectly together to me its a delicious mix.

  5. A really great deli with the added bonus of having great prepared food and imported dairy, candy, etc. I love coming here for a sandwich on the go, and haven't had something that I didn't enjoy. It's a bit more expensive than a standard nyc deli, but worth the cost. The deli is clean, and I've never had a negative interaction with the folks there. They'll even serve specific cuts or preparations of deli meat which is awesome. Definitely a great stop for lunch or even a quick, cheap, prepared dinner when in Sunnyside.

  6. While I do love health food stores, Butcher Block is one of my favorite grocery stores! Butcher Block carries a very large assortment of Irish goods. They have freshly made shepherds pie and fish and chips, a great meat section with sausages and a variety of thickly cut bacon, and of course LOTS of great candy and tea from the UK.  This store has almost everything you would see in a grocery store in Ireland. Including local Irish news papers! My husband's family is from Donegal and he was shocked to see the newspaper there! If you are looking for a grocery store with some great Irish products this is your spot. Definitely worth trying out this specialty grocery store!

  7. We live a few blocks away and its great for a quick hot meal.  They serve very simple dishes for take out.  Specials of the day such as roast beef, mashed potatoes and veg or corned beef and cabbage or stuffed cabbage or pot roast or roast chicken.  They also have a wide array of irish products.  Im married to an irishmen… so Ive bought a few items for us in the past… not being irish myself.. it was all new to me.  The line moves fast.

  8. If you've never had a Butcher Block burger, YOU DON'T KNOW A GOOD BURGER!!  But seriously, if you bring hamburger meat from this place to a BBQ you will be the most popular person at the BBQ, guaranteed.  Amazing.
