Omg!! So glad we decided to stop by after breakfast to grab sweets. Very cute bake shop! Must have: pecan caramel monkey buns! Also the raspberry linzer! Both are amazing!
Would come back for more treats!
Somehow I've managed to not have any of the desserts on my frequent trips here. That's because the crossiant are so amazing that I just keep getting those! Light, flaky and buttery goodness. Delicious iced coffee as well!
We had Buttermilk Bakeshop make a cake for my sister's baby shower. She was reasonably priced, she worked with us to get the decorations how we wanted them and the timing was perfect on the delivery. The cake was absolutely delicious and we received so many compliments on how good it was. It was also adorable and the decorations came out great.
I would definitely recommend trying this bakery some time.
This place is ALWAYS closed when I want a treat, so I FINALLY was able to come in the other week. I had a whoppie pie, which I loved, and my New England boyfriend liked, but declared it was not "quite" a whoppie pie (whatever). Staff was nice, everything was fresh, good selection. That gorgeous picture that is their profile image was nowhere to be seen, and I want it bad, so I'll be back.
I was walking around Brooklyn and saw 2 of these! I figured I should try it since it looked pretty good. I grabbed a lavender cupcake, and used the yelp check i offer to get a free salted caramel candy!
The cupcake was very meh. The cake was very dense, and the frosting was cold so when I bit it, it all kinda toppled off in one big piece. Maybe this dense version of a cupcake is a unique style, but it's not for me. I probably wouldn't come here again.
The salted caramel was just okay. Not spectacular, but not bad.
One positive is the prices were very affordable!
The BEST cookies I have ever had, period. The coffee crunch is *amazing*, but all of the choices are good. Super moist and tasty. They are not cheap, but they are totally worth it!
Mixed feelings about this tiny South Slope bakery. The selection was very small, there are only two seats inside with a small outdoor seating area for when it's nice out. Tried a red velvet cake pop which wasn't that great. After one bite, it crumbled apart and fell into the floor so that was the end of that. Also, the red velvet cupcake was rather blah and the icing was way too sweet. The strawberry cupcake, however, was great. The icing actually tasted like a sweet, fresh strawberry which went well with the vanilla cupcake. The staff was polite and the prices surprisingly cheap. I'd like to come back and try the cookies. Give it a try.
She asked 'anything else before I close the box?'
I responded by saying: 'I've heard amazing things about the Salted Nutella…'
She said "uh, yeah you did! I'm putting it in your box."
Best decision I made all day was allowing her to add that cookie to my box of goodies. Because, ohmygosh, that cookie – is the most perfectly fudgy cookie that is so deliciously chocolately it immediately became one of my favorite treats in all of NYC. Basically chocolate + nutetlla + salt = the most perfect combination that I never knew I always wanted. Since trying this cookie a couple weeks ago I've literally told anyone who will listen to me about the combination. If you go to Buttermilk and can only spend $2.50 – GET THE SALTED NUTTELLA COOKIE!!
But if you happen to have a few more dollars to spend then check these items out too….
Classic Black and White cookie. It's not my most favorite in NYC but it's still really good.
Mixed Berry Macaron: strawberry/raspberry/blueberry explosion! Subtly sweet and among the prettiest macarons I've ever had.
Chocolate Pretzel Macaron: this lil' guy crumbled in my hand when I went to take my first bite, so that was frustrating. Flavors were good but not better than the Mixed Berry.
Lemon Bar: Oooo! Get the lemon bar! Not too sweet, not too tart, but just the right balance of lemony topping over a buttery shortbread crust and topped with a sprinkle of powdered sugar. (The gals behind the counter told me that it's not an everyday item, so if they have it – get it!)
Salted Chocolate Caramel: Make sure you checkin via the yelp app! You get a free caramel at this location when you do and you are going to want one of these. Smooth rich flavor and its texture is like biting into a piece of fudge. I wish I could check in every day.
In fact I wish I could visit Buttermilk everyday…
