  1. Quick and fast cafe that's right across from the Kettering Cancer Center. Good for salads, pasta, bagels, fruits, etc. They have a make-your-own pasta center where you can choose up to 4 additional toppings (+1 protein). That's a good deal! And it's great for 2 to share.

  2. Stopped in for a quick chicken salad sandwich in between appointments.  Quick friendly service.  Tasty sandwich.  Bagel was mediocre but not bad by any stretch.  Good for a quick food fix.

  3. Food as fuel. Sometimes, that's all you need. For those times, Cafe Fresco is perfect.

It's a classic and crowded deli offering whatever you want for lunch. Paninis, bagels, pasta bar, design-your-own salads, soup, smoothies.

The quality of the food is not bad for this sort of place. Everything seems fresh, as its name indicates. But I don't remember what I ate, and you won't either.

Lunchtime is hectic, as the hospital hordes descend, and the staff's mood is utilitarian. Get 'em in, and get 'em out! Fresco gets the job done, but don't expect to enjoy the experience.

  4. Cafe Fresco, you have truly let me down. I stopped by for lunch recently and ordered a Chicken Quesadilla. They have an assortment of dishes laid out on display and priced accordingly. The quesadillas said $6.95. Then they had "lunch specials" that has the same item as well. I pointed to the one in the display (the one I first mentioned) and they made it pretty quickly, stopping to ask if I wanted anything inside besides chicken and cheese. I asked for peppers.

When they rang up my meal, the woman said "it will be 9 dollars and change." I thought to myself, even with tax it shouldn't be that much. They said I ordered the other chicken quesadilla. There's more than one type? Trust me, I'm not gonna fight over a dollar or two difference (life is too short), but it was the principle. They said the type of chicken and "seasoning" was different and that's why they charged me for the pricier one. Really? But after a long day at work, I just wanted to eat my lunch.

Not only was it mis-priced/unclear, but it wasn't even that good. Bummer. There was hardly any substance inside tortillas and the veggies didn't seem fresh. No spices, nothing special. This will probably be my last time at Cafe Fresco.

  5. I only got a smoothie here, so my data is limited. That said, my smoothie wasn't that great. Very sweet like it's mostly syrup. The place is also very small/laid out funny so it's not very pleasant waiting for your stuff.

  6. Great selection, a tad bit pricey but the food was delicious. Service was with a smile and everyone was friendly. Great to stop in and grab a quick bite.

  7. "Go crazy on salad fixins"

This place has been newly renovated and it is more spacious, so you will not feel the effects of claustrophobia while waiting for your food.

Typically, I order salads at this place and I find that this establishment are very generous with the toppings. The general formula for the salad is 1 meat protein, 2 cheeses, and up to 6 ingredients (tomatoes, beans, chickpeas, etc.). I find a lot of times that the staff will give you a couple extra toppings if you ask nicely. Plus, the bagel chips are very delicious.

There is not too much to write about this place because it is your typical coffee/bagel, lunch-time deli/salad spot. But, if you are around the UES near the hospital, it is a great place for a quick bite to eat.

  8. I love everything I have had here. Their bagels are the best I have ever had. If left here without witnesses I would plow through about a dozen bagels without coming up for air. I often get a bagel with cream cheese, salmon, onions and tomatoes.  They are very generous with the dressing of the bagel toppings. That and a large coffee and I am set until dinner. I have also had their salads which are made to order and the selection they have as toppings is generous and fresh. You grab a plastic bowl of greens from the standing refrigerator and then go up to the counter and hand them your bowl and just start pointing and picking your toppings.
The place is almost always busy.  There's 10 2-seater tables running down the side of the place right next to windows that overlook a park.  The guys taking your orders for bagels, egg sandwiches, and lunch sandwiches are pleasant and fast. The girls up t the cash registers are also very efficient and pleasant. It is in walking distance from where I stay and when I am there I go just about every morning – worth it!
