  1. First impression:

Really nice staff. I had never been here before, so I asked where to go, what can I order, etc. Everyone was really friendly and helpful.

I got a bacon, egg and cheese on a flat sesame bagel. It was $5.43 with tax. A little on the pricier side, compared to Dunkin and Starbucks.

However, it was really big. And good. It wasn't amazing by any means, but it was a nice change from my Dunkin sandwich and worth the extra dollar.

The only thing I didn't like was that the top of the bagel didn't have any cheese on it, so it could just fall off. I guess cheese on the bottom instead of the top isn't a deal breaker 😛

Also, they have a TON of breakfast options. Which is nice. Apparently there is seating, too.

I will be back but ONLY when i really really really want a breakfast sandwich. I got a BEC on a croissant today and it was $7 and change. I was shocked 🙁

  2. Great breakfast! Great service. Been back for 3 times! I really liked the pancakes with banana.

  3. We stayed at the nearby Sheraton Hotel and had breakfast at Cafe Metro.  We had a very good egg white omelet with spinach, mushrooms, onion and tomato.  Service was very friendly.  We came back later for carry out dessert. The cannoli was good.  The carrot cake was just so-so.  The cheesecake with strawberry topping was good.  Prices were typical for this area.  I would return to Cafe Metro the next time I am in New York.

  4. Small seating area, which isn't really occupied during lunch hours — mainly people grab their sandwiches, salads, or soups, and head back to the office. Doesn't seem like a real sit down location. Having said that, I was able to snag a small table by the window on my lunch break, and since it wasn't crowded and noisy (other than people chattering and ordering food at the front), it felt almost peaceful!

Prices are average, not exactly cheap. Maybe on the pricey side considering what you are getting, but given the location, it's not so bad.

Good selection of hot soup, sandwiches, salads.

  5. More like 3.5 stars…I know restaurants around Times Square get a bad rep, but this place is decent if you want something quick and healthy.

I made a salad for around $9, which comes with a choice of 6 toppings and a chunk of bagel/bread. The greens were fresh, and I liked the variety of toppings they offered. They also have a nice selection of healthier sauces – I went with the organic sesame and olive oil dressing, which was good. Cheap and fresh, would come again.

  6. To preface, I lived directly above this location for two years.  Everything here is very, very overpriced even for Midtown (seemingly considering Times Square is just a few blocks south). While the food is actually fairly decent with plenty of options to choose from, walking one or two blocks away from 7th avenue to a smaller deli/cafe will yield you quite the savings for the same quality food.

  7. This place is way overpriced!  But it is on 7th Ave so that is to be expected.  That said, it is convenient for me if I need to quickly get some fruit or a salad or something.

But tourists of 7th Avenue, heed my words.  You will pay less if you go a block or two away.  54 Gourmet, between Broadway and 8th on 54th is a good option.   Last week at Metro I paid $9 for a small greek salad.  I mean, who am I?  Ryan Seacrest?  Who can pay that for a salad? A small container of fruit is twice what it costs at the supermarket (Gristedes is a block away at 54th and 8th).

Employees are usually friendly but the prices are not justifiable in my book.  So that is why I can only give three stars, because it isn't bad, it just lacks value.

  8. I came here for lunch during a work conference down the street.  The service was incredibly horrible and in fact the lady at the register was actually rude to me.  There was no organization in the place and it was just a zoo.  To top it off the chicken burrito I got wasn't even that good and I barely even ate half of it.  Next time I'll choose a street cart over this place!
