My friend picked up some goodies and my my~~ I ate every single flavor of them!
My fave was the Jalapeno & Pesto!! Plus! its best that you buy the 15 for $18… Can't stop grubbin on them!
Cute cheese puff cafe in the neib, adorable yellow duck theme is adorable. Coffee wasn't bad either and they have few seatings.
My favorite thing about Cafe Patoro, after four consecutive daily visits, thus far, is the incredibly warm and obliging staff, and the extremely inviting environment they create: a perfectly comfortable and charming scenario to enjoy some lovely pastries, to which I will frequently return.
In my opinion, the pão de queijo ("pdq") are a little expensive, because even though they are delightful little creations, it's really only one big bite (or two little bites) for $2, so it would be a lot more encouraging if they were priced at 3 for $5, which would also encourage sharing or buying a dozen of them for the office. And as tasty as these little treats are, my favorite items so far have been the Ham and Cheese puff-pastry and their signature fresh Cornbread with Coconut.
This little, hidden coffee shop is a real gem in the financial district. I stopped in here to escape the heat and grab a quick refreshment. They have hot and cold coffee drinks, along with an array of sweet and savory treats. I ordered a cold latte mocha (which uses semi-sweet cocoa, so it doesn't taste too sugary!) and a corn empanada. My friends ordered mini quiches and really enjoyed them as well.
The staff is very friendly. It was admittedly slow service due to the fact that there was only 2 or 3 people working. Ambiance is cute and modern. There is a place for about 12 people to sit.
If you have time and are willing to spend a little more on specialty coffee and eats, this place is worth a shot. If you plan on coming a lot, make sure to ask for a coffee card as well!
What's not to love about this place? Amazing Brazilian PDQs; I especially love the jalapeno and rosemary ones. Incredibly friendly people behind the counter. Excellent coffee. But the real gem here is the cornbread. Try it – it's amazing. They also have a delicious flan in a perfect portion size.
A terrific unique addition to the neighborhood!
Beautiful little cafe in the increasingly hip South St Seaport – stopped by because I rarely get to enjoy some pao de queijo. They're $1.25 each and come in a variety of flavors…I tried the original and roasted garlic. Both were delicious but the original is definitely still the real MVP. There's nothing not to like about chewy, cheesy bread – I could probably eat 20 of these in one sitting and then die on the streets.
I also spotted brigadeiro cake which was screaming my name. I can't turn down a fat wedge of dark chocolate cake oozing brigadeiro and covered in chocolate sprinkles so of course I had to bring one home. The cake was very moist and surprisingly not too sweet.
I quite enjoyed it here and would come back for a coffee and to try their other pastries….and a box of 20 PDQs.
