  1. I honestly don't understand the poor rating here.  Seems that the staff is the big downer here, but I didn't experience that.  They were in general nice and attentive.  But mix in pretty darn decent food (which I had for the first time in all my visits to Caffebene), great atmosphere, and normally really good espresso-based drinks and this place is definitely 4-stars.

The Flushing location is da bomb when it comes to the crowd.  This place is packed, but is big so there seems to always be a table or two within 5 minutes of waiting.  Ultimate people-watching spot really.  The Americano here wasn't as good as the ones I had in the L.A. locations.  But their sandwiches and mojito were really good (although they need more shrimp in their sandwich).  I don't know, if I live in the area and I'm up for a chat or working on my laptop, I'm coming here.

  2. This one isn't so crowded even on a Friday night. There's plenty of room for 8 people group to two people. It isn't loud and its comfortable.

I ordered cookies and cream ice parfait for 12.25! Luckily I shared it because it's huge! Its like having yogurt shaved ice inbetween red beans and Oreo shavings. A whole Oreo on top of a large scoop of vanilla ice cream! Its very delicious and sweet. Not too sweet where it hits your sweet tooth hard. Well come back to try their wafles!

  3. A very big an high ceiling Caffe Bene. There are plenty of tables and seats but usually filled with people, a lot of Asians of all ages from students to grandmas. It can get very noisy and loud in there. Never really a long line there even if it's packed in there because everyone's just chilling and sitting down with no drink or food. It's too loud in there to read or study. But people use laptops in there because there are outlets. I do not like how the bathroom is in the space next to Caffe Bene and down the stairs and has a passcode. So make sure you know the code before you walk down because you'd either have to wait for someone to come out of the bathroom (if someone's already in there) or walk back upstairs and get the dam code.

I walk by it everyday before and after work. I've gotten coffee from here before in the morning, bland and watered down coffee and too pricey. Would pass on that. But for their bread and pastries, there are a lot of varieties. I've also gotten their mango and Passionfruit smoothie, I always get that when I'm in smoothie mood and nice weather calls for one.

  4. Conveniently located in the heart of flushing. Aside from the distracting construction that is going around in all directions there is really nothing to complain about. They have a large seating area which gives you a nice place to socialize with friends. The coffee is average but the pastries more than make up for it.

    Personal favorite: NY cheesecake

    PRICES ARE SOMEWHAT HIGH

  5. This Caffè Bene is just as spacious as their many chain locations,  my personal favorite is the Great Neck location or the other Flushing one directly on Northern Blvd. Not surprising they have the same menu at each spot but this location has hidden counters of goodies as well. Not sure if it's just here but first time I've seen this. There were special donuts like ginormous ones. Hibiscus flavor, chocolate nibs, caramel chocolate to name a few. So tempted but at $3 each, I had to re-think.

I also saw a hot dog station where you can order a beef or chicken version. Korean kimchi style or a Vietnamese Bahn Mi version. You can even choose what type of bread roll you want (brioche, lobster roll type,  or regular). Interesting indeed.

I didn't try these but thought I'd mention it. Also a free bag of popcorn with $5 purchase.

I did buy the pistachio muffin and a toasted sandwich (ham and egg salad). The ham sammy was just a half portion. It was a nice sized snack, ham was not salty but the egg salad did have a hint of salt. I didn't mind but letting you know. The pistachio muffin was fluffy not dense. Good and plenty to share as it was quite large. Similar size to the Dunkin Donuts muffins.

Here's the tip: do eat there if you can. Soak up the ambiance. Ha And do try the stuff on the signature menu. It'll be the better reason to like this chain. Try the waffles or any of the gooey cheese pan offerings. I'm a fan. (Just not sure this locale like I said earlier).

  6. Overpriced and with very out-of-it employees. They aren't rude or anything but they aren't very helpful and they get kind of restless and impatient if you don't already know what you want to order. The food is average and NOT worth the price. It'd be worth maybe 2/3. Also for some reason everytime I come by for a hot cocoa drink they're always out or sold out even at 9 am??

I ordered a smoothie at one time, decent, very sweet but overpriced. Now the only time I was really put off is when I ordered a waffle. (Which is like right now). I ordered a gelato waffle and specified the whipped cream and strawberry and I guess they don't allow that? Well they sure didn't say I can't and when I picked it up it was just a waffle with a small scoop of gelato tacked on top. The saddest and most pitiful waffle. When I asked what about te cream and strawberries he just stared at me blankly and said this was a gelato waffle and that's what I asked for.

    I paid $7.08 for this…

They also give piss poor utensils. The flimsiest plastic fork and knife that barely cut into the waffle. Maybe it's the way the honey reacts to being pressed in a waffle iron but the outside was annoyingly hard to cut through and the inside was a weird texture.
I wish I spent the 7$ on a gelato crepe up the block or two bubble teas from tenren.

Biggest mistake. Anyway the only extra star is that there's a lot of seating room and it's pretty well maintained by the workers. This A good place if you want to throw bloated prices and just wanna hang out with friends and catch up. I guess I can't blame the spaced out workers when the establishment charges outrageous prices for mediocrity. I just hope they're paid well because I never see them tipped either. Probably the only reason this place is in business is because they can bank on the lack of seating room anywhere else in flushing. Then again the lack of seating room at TLJ or Paris baguette tends to be because their stuff is actually decent. There's good caffe benes but this is not one of them.

  7. Basically the only place in Flushing where you can comfortably sip your coffee and do computer work. … except when the Wifi doesn't work. Specifically came here to enjoy such an environment, but was sorely disappointed, so I couldn't post this review until I went home.

Ordered the vanilla latte ($4.30 with tax), quite tasty. But I'm not a constant coffee drinker so any coffee tastes fine to me. On an early Friday afternoon, the place was pretty full of students studying, young professionals and retired seniors chatting with their friends.

They have a nice selection of coffee, boba drinks, desserts, ice cream, and a small bakery selection at the front of the store. Would recommend this place to hang out with friends, chat, and listen to mellow music but don't count on using the Wifi for work.

  8. Love this place!  Great assortment of pastries, sandwiches, gelatos and coffees/teas. Tried the maple latte, delicious 🙂
