  1. The beauty of this Calandra's bakery location??  It's on my way home from work, right on Rt 46…how much more convenient can that be!    And of course, after work, who doesn't need a 'pick me up' – be it their fabulous cookies (chocolate lace for me please!), or a yummy fruit pie – always have to grab a nice warm apple pie, loaded with fresh tasty apples…, or a cup of coffee to go with the many pastries offered – way too many to list.  I popped in there a few weeks ago after dinner, to grab a tira misu cake for my mom's birthday – we were only supposed to have a few guests over to celebrate, but ended up with a few more.  We had to cut the cake into smaller pieces because nobody wanted the other desserts we offered…they all wanted our Calandra's cake.  Who could blame them?!  I've been to all of their locations for dinner, but stopping at their bakery is always a must!!

  2. Got various Italian cookies all amazing! I really like the pinoli cookies! Has some almond paste incorporated in it! Yum! They also have deliciously crisp semolina bread!

  3. This bakery has so many things, I can never go in here without wanting to eat every single thing! I have been in here once before and it was in March, so they had their Irish Soda Bread out. I picked up a loaf and it was very good. I think I also picked up a cupcake or two here because I wanted to try them. This past weekend, I popped in here with a friend of mine after dinner for coffee and dessert. They are open until 9pm, which was great for us! I had a regular coffee, which was hot and fresh and I also tried one of the small cannolis. The cannoli was delicious, the shell was very crunchy and not at all soggy, which can sometimes happen with cannolis when they are sitting in the bakery case, pre-filled. My friend had an espresso, which smelled really good and she said it was just what she wanted. Calandra's has an espresso machine where you can make your own espresso, which I thought was interesting. At first, we couldn't figure out how to use the machine, but a staff member was quick to help us out. They have many choices of things to add to your espresso or coffee like non-dairy creamer, any type of milk and also half and half. They have a couple of tables to sit at inside and also a few outside, however, it was too cold for us to sit outside when we went. I will be back this March to get my Irish Soda Bread and some other things as well!

  4. Love this bakery for variety and quality of baked goods! They have everything you can imagine at the bakery – from any type of bread to pastries, cakes and even gelato and pasta.

I tried their pastries and bread several times and they were always fresh and delicious. You might not like the pastry itself if it's not your taste, but you can't argue that they are fresh and well made.

It's a little pricey, but it's worth spoiling yourself from time to time!

  5. I had way too many pastries to list them and describe them all individually, so I'll just give you the highlights of my favorites. Hazelnut sponge roll (OMG!!!! My life is better because of this cake. it is so good!!! cake is so soft and light, hazelnut cream is delicious and that little crunch on top of the roll is money!!! I need to see if this comes in a whole roll instead of individually sliced); tiramisu (yes!!!!! the soaked layer of cake with the liquer was so good; the cream was so light; absolutely perfect!); Eclairs, cream puffs, chocolate mousse, sfogliatelle are also pretty good.

The service is efficient. Thank god the employees know what's in the pastries. I'd definitely return to try more desserts but I'm also interested to see how the sauces, pastas, pizzas and breads are.

  6. Phenomenal bread!
Average to above average everything else.
They are pretty pricey to be selling their just ok baked goods based on the well deserved reputation of their bread.
All of their pastries look fantastic.  Wish the taste matched the look!

  7. Did not know this place existed until last year fall, but I liked everything from this place.  I pick up some desserts from time to time if I'm on Rt. 46.

  8. Although it isn't Paleo warm bread is awesome!  I know this is short but that's all that needs to be said.
