  1. I love Campbell Cheese & Grocery! The staff is extremely friendly and patient. The ladies and gents at the counter in the back take their time with every customer, but acknowledge everyone with a greeting. They're eager to let you try anything before you choose which meat or cheese you'll be taking home…

Oh, and the meats and cheeses! What a fine selection they have! There's something for everyone, but my favorite has got to be the Cabot Cheddar. Bries, swiss, everything delicious is behind this magical counter…including a kitchen where they make the tastiest of sandwiches and biscuits!

I recently tried the BLT, which was loaded with delicious crispy bacon (not greasy) and tons of beautiful slices of juicy tomato. This sandwich was perfection! The biscuits (up by the counter) are also awesome and served with a heaping slab of buttah. You can't go wrong with that. I can't wait to try a breakfast sandwich on one of these things.

Campbell's also has an awesome selection of beers and hard ciders, in addition to non-alcoholic bevvies (like milk from Pittsford Dairy!), artisan chocolates and treats.

I could easily blow $100 every time I visit Campbell's…but if I restrict myself to a few quarter pound servings of cheese and a biscuit or two, I can usually walk away without feeling guilty. And once I sink my teeth in, there's just no room for buyers remorse. Check this place out!

  2. This cheese shop is amazing. The people behind the counter are cool, knowledgeable, and passionate about cheese. My girlfriend and I came in and tasted a bunch of samples and then bought a half pound of various cheeses. This was the best cheese I've had in my life.

  3. Oh my, what words do I have? This is my current food crush, right here.

I ate their Cuban grilled cheese with jalapeno slaw at the Big Cheesy and knew this place was something special, but it took me awhile to actually get out there. I finally came in after a three mile walk, ravenous, and ordered their bacon egg and cheese with sweet and spicy butter on a biscuit. The biscuit is super moist, slathered with this divine butter that absorbs into the bread, melding perfectly with the softly folded eggs and melted cheese, complemented with expertly cooked bacon. Whew, this is a sandwich! Other sandwiches should aspire to be this sandwich.

Besides the sandwiches, the cheese and grocery portion of the store packs in a massive variety of high quality goods considering the relatively small space. The cheese case alone is so overwhelming. They also have cured meats and pate, craft beer, yogurt, truffle butter, mayo, tomato sauce, pasta, salsa verde, roasted peppers and tomatoes, roast duck (from Le Trois Petit Cochon), chocolate, jerk sauce, bacon, sausage, creme fraiche, spicy pickles, pickled okra with smoked paprika (this last one I couldn't help but take home with me). I will happily go broke here.

The staff who work there are also friendly, helpful, and very patient. Don't be afraid to ask questions! They also deliver, which is dangerous. Go, fall in love with something new.

  4. The beeeest breakfast sandwiches are found here. The BEST! The biscuits they come in are truly special.

I haven't ordered anything else from the store but the other sandwiches and salads sound great. They do sell various specialty and locally sourced fruits, cheeses, and drinks (coffee is Toby's Estate). Overall a very cute specialty store.

    BUT GET THE BREAKFAST SANDWICHES!!

  5. An upscale purveyor of cheese near the Lorimer Street L stop, Campbell Cheese doesn't get the recognition for its sandwiches that Meat Hook across the street, or even the meat bombs that come out Graham Avenue Meats and Deli, but it's nearly as tasty.

There are no seats, which means that the best place to enjoy the well-crafted sandwiches are the nearby stoops (come during warm weather and hope the neighbors remain pleasant. While waiting for the sandwich to be prepared get ready for some serious temptation and the cheeses from near and far, priced for those with a healthy six figure salary. When cheese is priced by the faction of the pound, watch out.

But if the cheese on offer is anything like what's in the Italian sandwich – watch out, it might be worth working 60 hours in a week. Spicy and savory with each bite, every ingredient is perfectly proportioned and immaculately sourced.

With its natural light and country inn trimmings, Campbell's could easily come off a Martha Stewart Living cliché. Thankfully the people behind this place has brought her attention to detail to deliver a superior product.

  6. Great variety of cheese products and general store items for you everyday cooking or drinking needs. They also make sandwiches and desert items. You have to try the banana bread. The prices are high but it's an artisan store. The only issue I had was that I bought a baguette and it was hard as a rock.
