  1. I was a advocate for GFC until I had a couple unfortunate incidents here. One occasion I found hair in my food. Another occasion I watched the staff member shovel snow and then come in and tried to serve my food and take my cash all with no gloves! GTHOH! If they can do this with me standing there I think there could be some other questionable sanitary practices as well.

  2. I usually grab a gyro platter (gyro and a salad) if I'm in the area but I didn't know they delivered until recently. I decided to try the delivery with 2 lamb gyros and 2 orders of catfish nuggets for delivery. $26.50. Reasonable prices. The delivery time was 1 hour 15 minutes. WTF?? Unreasonable delivery time.
Lamb gyros were delicious and they were very generous with the lamb. However, the catfish nuggets were horribly, horribly salty. They came with seasoned fries which were….too salty.
Overall, I would stop by in the future and pick up a gyro if I'm in the mood.
    No delivery for me!

  3. GFK is short for Gyro Fish Chicken, Obviously by the name they specialize in Halal style food. They offer a complete menu that covers all the bases when it comes to this middle eastern influenced no pork added Allah approved genre of food.

Instantaneously upon opening its doors in the Canarsie section of Brooklyn, GFK has added immense value to the intersection of Remson and Flatlands. This is arguably the busiest intersection in Canarsie yet it offered no food options. In fact this entire neighborhood has a severe lack of variety when it comes to food. It's either Caribbean restaurants or the same fast food chains (little Cesar's, Popeyes and McDonald's) that redundantly canvas this area of Brooklyn. This neighborhood just plain sucks when it comes to food. GFK is step in the correct direction. Offering a full a variety of chicken, fish, lamb and salad as well as non fried & no carb options is in this area is like building a well in a town with no drinkable water.

The Food: I've had the chicken over rice, lamb over rice, fried chicken and chicken tikka. Everything they offer is done very well. These are flavorful dishes and generous portions and for only about $6. Excellent Value. Everything I've had here has been really good. The meats are cooked just right, never undercooked and always tender and juicy. Everything has been seasoned nicely and never bland. My favorite dish here is the chicken tikka which is only cooked to order. They grill the marinated chicken over flames so it has charred texture and taste. And like most of their dishes the chicken is placed on top of rice and served with a salad that contains lettuce, peppers, tomatoes, pickles, onions, carrots and olives. They are really giving you a complete meal for your $6.

Something else I noticed about this place is the guys that run it are very kind and respectful towards the customers. They are always very polite. I've seen them outside giving out free samples. I've even seen them Approach a mother and her child who were standing in the pouring rain and invite them into the the store to wait for the bus. These are the kind of people that you feel good giving your money to and want to see their business thrive. On top of all of this they accept debit card and don't require the $10 min that is so common with small businesses in NY.

GFK earns a very strong 4 out of 5 stars from me. I'd actually like to give them 5 stars but I try to reserve that for places that offer the absolute best food in the city. Although this is not on my list of superlative eateries it does offer damn good Halal. It's one of the better food spots for miles. I am a loyal customer and proud to write the first review on this unknown gem.
