Two words : CANNOLI PLUS
This review is based on their delicious cannolis. I love their cannolis so much that I always buy extra and bring it to work.
Their cannolis are perfect. The shell is crisp and not too thick it's filled with a nicely balanced cream. You can choose between a small/large cannoli. Regular or chocolate, which is pretty awesome.
The store is pretty small, it's right off 71st train station off of the D line. You really can't miss it. Especially with that delicious lingering baking smell that lures you in! Haha
Would I return? Yessssss (drooling now)..
It's official, I just had the best cannoli (that comes as close to the Cannolo Siciliano I had in Italy). I'm standing here writing about this miracle with powdered sugar all over my face and jacket. I could care less because I'm basking in my sugar high.
The shell-oh, the shell! It was thick, had the perfect crunch and density. The filling was cool, fresh thick and creamy and didn't have that run-of-the-mill bakery after taste. It was the perfect balance of sweet cream and airy cheese whipped into a miraculous frenzy.
I'm spreading the good news like a faithful disciple of the traditional cannolo Siciliano.
I lived in Brooklyn for about 10 years and I know that the italians here can make good food. A family member asked me to get them Cannolis to bring to Texas, and so I yelped this place and got a dozen.
These were frozen and the cream was separate, to later fill them in yourself. Unfortunately I was told they weren't that good. I was disappointed, I don't know if it was the frozen factor, old cannoli or just a bad batch. And they arrived frozen and technically should be equally good. Most people buy them to go anyway.
The lady gave me a complimentary pastry and that was very nice of her, but this was a bit dry too. I don't know the proper name for this.
Next times the charm.
Let me tell you, I was born and raised in the land of cannoli's and actually grew up right across the street from Cannoli Plus. It wasn't there when I was growing up, but I damn sure wish it was!!!!! This is what all cannoli's strive to be!!! Get them here and they are always fresh and incredible!!!!! Even when they have been in my fridge for 2 days and the roll has gotten all soggy……….I STILL LOVE THEM!!!!!!!
so i called my friend one morning and made him get out of bed to drive to bensonhurst so we could go on a cannoli crawl. this crawl involved trying 8 different cannolis from different places in the area, we though cannoli plus has a very sweet cannoli, the ricotta was pretty liquidy, which doesn't make for the tastiest cannoli, however there was a lot of powdered sugar on the shell which gave the cannoli extra points.
we thought this was just an average cannoli compared to those that we tried.
"Canal Plus" is a TV station in France. The only thing better than TV is TS. Oh hold on a minute. I just realized this has nothing to do with Cannoli. Okay let's get back to the matter at hand.
What to get: Mini Cannoli for a snack, or full size Cannoli if you're hungry.
Ooh: Yes, it's literally one of the best Cannolis you will ever eat.
And: Everything here is made on premises and you can taste it.
What else: If you have too many of these, you'll have to shop in the "Cannoli Plus-Size" section.
"Canneloni Puss" is the red sauce that seeps out of a plate of Canneloni when you squeeze it. This should not be confused with Cannoli Plus.
New York City is where the best Cannolis in North America are to be found, and the very best two are both in the same city. These two are "Villabate Alba" and "Cannoli Plus." They're basically within walking distance of each other in Brooklyn, and are both spectacular. VA is a little fancier, on a nice well-trafficked intersection corner, and has delicious Gelato as well. CP is a little more understated, hidden under subway lines around the block. If you are a fan of Cannoli, you simply must try both. What sets these Cannolis apart is that they have the most amazing crust, the most divine, creamy, not-too-sweet filling, and that the come together to form the most delicious Cannoli taste you'll probably ever experience. In my experience of referring peopel here, most people who try one or both of these two, agree that it's the best Cannoli they've tasted. See for yourself. Come and pop one of these creamy babies in your mouth.
"Channel Islands Prius" is where you buy Hybrid Vehicles out in Broad Channel. This should not be confused with Cannoli Plus.
Service is nice (by NYC standards), and if you're not too hungry, you can get a very generous "Mini" for as little as a dollar or so. It will serve your purposes perfectly if you have a lot of other things to try. The regular sizes are absolutely huge.
"Canuf***me Please" it what you say when you really, really, really need some action. This should not be confused with Cannoli Plus. That's for when you want a different type of filling in your Cannoli.
My boss spoke very highly of this place and when we had a going away party for an employee he brought them into the office. I'm not sure if that was a good thing or bad, because I can't stop going on my way to work almost every single week!
The prices are reasonable compared to bakeries in NYC and Long Island by far and I think that's what keeps me from coming back due to many other qualities about their products and service.
The girl that's at the front counter is very nice. It seems like she's been there for quite a while, as she knows customers by heart at this point (as the observer)
I highly recommend the Chocolate covered large cannolis. The original are great too, don't get me wrong, but their shelf life isn't as good as the chocolate covered ones for some reason. Their shells are crunchy, which gives it a nice bite and taste. Their cannoli cream filling is to die for. I've never tasted a cannoli this good in my life, and I've tried quite a few to compare to.
Best place in Brooklyn by far. The only downside I would say to this store is that they don't sell individual cookies. They sell them by the pound and most people don't want to buy by the pound so that's a disappointment because then I have to go elsewhere in Brooklyn to get an assortment of cookies that I want to hand pick and try.
Prices:
$2.00 large original cannoli
$2.25 large chocolate covered cannoli
$1.25 linzertart
$2.50 muffins (I believe) the blueberry is very good.
$1.50 for the mini cannolis I believe or $1.25.
Hope this helps 😉
Cannoli Plus needs to be on every single New Yorker's to-do list. Also, I need to figure out what the plural of cannoli is. Cannolis? Cannoli? I digress.
Yes, it's way down in Bensonhurst, but I swear on my cannoli-loving stomach that this place is WORTH THE TREK.
It's worth it when you can smell the pastries, wafting down the street from TWO BLOCKS away.
It's worth it when you enter the small store and are immediately overwhelmed by the boxes of fresh cookies and cannoli shells stacked to the ceiling.
It's worth it when the friendly woman behind the counter takes your order for a cannoli (or 4) and then disappears back into the kitchen to fill your cannoli shell with FRESH cream. There are different kind of shells – big, small, chocolate dipped, chocolate dipped with nuts, etc…but I recommend starting out with your old basic plain cannoli. What can I say – I'm a purist.
It's worth it when you take a bite into the freshest Italian pastry you've ever had* and feel the sugar rush into your mouth** and the powdered sugar decorate your shirt.
Get your pretty little selves to Cannoli Plus. Bring CASH.

*Okay, unless you've actually been in Italy and seen a baker pull a loaf out of the oven. That might be fresher. But not by much!
**Yes, this got a little racy. Apologies.
