Went here on a weeknight with another Yelp Eliter from BK for drinks. The bar was rather empty but none the less inviting. We were greeted by Eugenio which happen to be the bartender for the evening.
The menu looked really appealing and had a lot to offer for everyone. Seeing that Cari is considered a wine bar I wanted to check out the drink selection. It you are a wine person they have enough selection to please everyone in your party. Their cocktail menu had everything from mojitos to sex on the beach to some other classic drinks. The drink that drew my attention was the HENNY PASSION. HANDS DOWN THIS IS MY FAV DRINK NOW!!! A gentleman next to us at the bar recommended our next drink be the EXOTIC KISS. It reminded me of a Mai Tai, but the Henny Passion is still my fav.
After a couple of rounds of drinks we decided to order a shrimp quesadilla, but they were out of shrimp ??? BUMMER. We ordered the chicken quesadilla instead. Pretty good quesadilla!!! This has inspired me to try other things on the menu when I come back or order delivery (They are on GrubHub)
Overall the decor of the establishment is beautiful. The service was pretty awesome at the bar, thanks to Eugenio!
They do have happy hour that runs from 2-8, but it is on well drinks and sangria.
Thanks for a great first impression. I will return!!!
Off the beaten path, Cari is reminiscent of what third-generation Dominican foodies in New York City would love for. Authentic Caribbean food with a tinge of formality and sophistication. The white sangria is a delight, the Bellini has an unusual salty note with an olive for garnish. The owner had "old hen" that he'd made in the back and brought us a sample of. The venue is airy and comfortable. I might very well become a regular here.
