Literally my neighbor. I was so happy when a West Indian restaurant opened up this close to me, the less time it took me to get there the faster I could eat. Their fried rice is very good I usually get that. It's simple and delicious unlike the competitors around the neighborhood.
The customer service is excellent, everyone is very polite and friendly. You don't feel intimidated walking into the establishment.
I ordered the jerk chicken fried rice one and wasn't a fan honestly, the chicken was a tad bit too dry. That's my only complaint.
I love their cheese sticks. You have to try them. The crust is so flakey and yummy. It's a great neighborhood establishment and I can tell they already have regulars and it has only been open for months.
So I will start by saying this place has an A-grade from the NYC Health and sanitation dept. So. Clearly this is a great way to start out. I had the pleasure of finding this place because of another fellow yelper who recomended it for lunch. I decided to have lunch in the restaurant so as to watch what people eat and order since I am not familiar with the menu. I order a double with chicken curry and pepper sauce (the sauce is very hot and spicy ) but is a necessary addition that blends well with the chicken and curry within the sandwhich itself. The fried rice with shrimp (lunch special) was really good not greasy at all and the rice was fried like Chinese fried rice very tasty and with plenty of shrimp. The chicken curry had a nice flavor not spicy and it was dark meat, I was not crazy about the rice they serve, seems like the rice had absorb a bit more water than expected so the flavor for the rice wast not ideal.
At the end of my meal, I was also very amazed at how immaculate the bathroom was. I will definitely come back and try other items from menu. The young lady at the counter was very pleasant. Overall the restaurant was very clean and the decor although minimal was still very nice. While eating in someone ordered a baked with salt fish..wow the presentation, portion size look really good. I wanted to try it but I was full already.
I was across the street waiting for my car to be fixed and noticed this place directly across the street. The restaurant was very clean inside. I ordered the salt fish and bake which was excellent. I will definitely be back to try more items on the menu.
This is the best Caribbean food place in Queens Village. Excellent customer service, very nice decor, amazing food, lots of options and by far the cheapest Caribbean place nearby. I would recommend this place to anyone. They also deliver for free.
So after 3 check ins, I'm finally writing my review on this spot. First thing is, they are nice! Yes, I said nice!! The three times I've gone, every single time I get excellent service. That in itself sets them apart from the rest so I hope they can maintain that.
The decor of Caribbean Delights is beautiful! They offer seating for about 20 people, wicker chairs compliment their dark wood tables and are very inviting. They have bronze and gold tiling along the walls which is gorg. The restaurant as a whole just looks very clean.
Now on to the food..Ive tried their bakes, sada roti, pumpkin, chickpeas, curry goat and jerk chicken fried rice.
-Their bakes omg they are sooo good! Freshly fried which makes them super soft and warm with a slight sweetness, I could eat those everyday.
-First time trying sada roti and I enjoyed it. It's a very dense, heavy type of roti kind of like a pita bread (used more for scooping up food).
-I'm used to pumpkin being simple, basically just mashed pumpkin with a little salt and pepper . The pumpkin I received here was very flavorful! Full of curry and spices which was different but a little too seasoned for my liking.
-The chickpeas…perfection! Seasoned just right, not too much salt or pepper they were delicious, especially with the roti.
-I had very high expectations of their curry dishes and was sadly disappointed with their curry goat. Curry goat should be fall of the bone tender but it wasnt. Dont get me wrong, the meat wasnt the toughest but it also wasn't tender enough. Another 15 minutes in the pressure cooker would have made it perfect.
-I was a bit disappointed but not surprised at the "jerk" chicken in the jerk chicken fried rice. To me, chicken isnt considered jerk unless you cook it on a bbq grill. Classic jerk chicken has that smokey, bbq flavor with the perfect spiciness. The chicken was juicy and seasoned well it just missed the grilled smokiness factor. The fried rice though was good, not oily like you would get at the Chinese store and it was nice and spicy too. I would definitely order the fried rice again.
I actually really like this spot and Im looking forward to trying more items off their extensive menu.
Often see this place come up as places to eat by me. I decided to check it out today. It's a small restaurant located on the corner of Jamaica ave and 215th. I went with the jerk chicken fried rice to go. I didn't see some of the things I saw on yelp like wings and plantain fries. Apparently they changed their menu. I brought the food home. It's delicious. The fried rice is great and so is the jerk chicken. It's a sliced grilled chicken breast. It's just a little too salty for taste, but overall good and there is definitely enough to feed 2 people. Maybe even more if you got additional food. Definitely try it out.
