  1. Was skeptic at first, because I had tried a few Caridad Restaurant around the city that were not good. But I was in the mood for chicken and  believe it or not  is hard to find a good chicken spot in Northern blvd. That's why I love Yelp makes it easy and convenient to find a good rated spot with out having to hustle.                                        Well they have excellent service, we order a Combo 4 to go, that  includes : Two rotisserie chickens, large rice, medium frijoles, Maduros (sweet plantains) and a liter of Coke. I order a flan on the side, was it was delicious, overall the  food was really good, the chicken was perfectly season and tender, the Maduros were sweet and caramelize.
The manager was at the register when I came to pay, very pleasant and accommodating, the waitress was focus on making sure my order was complete and perfectly prepared. Thank u and I will repeat the visit for sure !;)

  2. I heard this place been at this location a long time; I attribute that to the good Dominican food.

Their breakfast are great at only $6.
The lunch and dinners on the weekend are mostly stews and roast chicken.
Not everything is great but the goat stew and beef stew is delicious.
Their prices can't be bet, each stew dish was only $6 each.

Service is slow. A lot of people working in a small spot.

  3. Not at all what I expected!  Food was just ok, nothing to cartwheel over.  I was with a group of four.  Skirt steaks were ordered, and waitress failed to ask how we wanted them cooked- therefore they came out pretty burnt on the edges- bad!!
Sangria- or do I mean fruit punch, needed more alcohol.  We had to really sweet talk to waitress to drop another cupful of whatever liquor she forgot to put in it in the first place.
The worst part of it all….Hubby ordered a skirt steak, and I ordered fish.  His steak tasted like fish!!!  He hates fish and was partly grossed out.  They must've cooked the steak in the fish pan- why in the world would any restaurant do that!!!!
Needless to say, not ever going back here!!

  4. It's a local spot, it's interesting since the right side kinda looks like a run down diner and the left side looks like a fancier restaurant. Overall, the food was pretty good but it bothered me that nothing was actually hot, it was lukewarm at best.

    The food:

Mofongo de Pollo- The mofongo here was good but sits in your stomach like a brick, it is filling! The flavor was good but I wish the tostones were more crisp, it did get better the more you ate it.

Chicharron de Cerdo- Fried Pork Chunks- I enjoyed the flavor but the pieces were super fried, it was actually kinda hard.

Chivo Guisado- Goat stew- The meat was super tender and really flavorful, I thought the sauce was great. This is a must order item.

Yuca- loved the onions, had a nice garlic taste throughout

  5. my bf and his fam frequent Caridad all the time, every sunday morning/afternoon, they roll up, finding street parking no more than 1 block away, and settle in at "their" table… the waitresses are fun and outgoing, swinging their hips to Marc Anthony as they're shuffling Mangu & Morir Sonando across the table.  my fiance's dominican, so I've had my fare share of DR cuisine.  My fav dishes here are the ox tail, sancocho, & camarones con arroz– they also make the perfect fried platanos.  No one beats home cooking, but Caridad does come close.  My only criticism is how much the dinner meals cost.  Many things on the menu are around $15-30!

  6. I get these cravings for Mofongo and then my minds starts to think where should I get my fix from.  Well the decision was easy since it appears that we had trouble getting through to La Cabana and Polanco's.  Thus, we went with Caridad.  Now I know that mofongo shouldn't be a take-out order but I went with it and my friends and I ordered a pork one and a chicken one.  Of course I thought the pork one would blow me out of the water but it was the chicken one that had us by surprise.  There were just enough chunks of crispiness and the heavy carby mofongo was offset by some steamed veggies on the dish.  Both dishes also came with a nice sauce which I felt the mofongo did not need (I like a lot of my food dry).  Thus I was able to take the sauces home and make chicken with it as well as a stewed fish dish.  Delicious food at Caridad.

I kind of like the mystery of delivery but the next time I am craving mofongo, I will come in person to check out the restaurant.
