I'd rate this location 3.5 stars. They are well staffed, so the long lines move quickly. There is a spacious parking lot which makes it nice not having to worry about parking. I liked that they offered 17 flavors of soft serve including my favorite flavor – pistachio.
Today was the perfect weather for ice cream. This particular Carvel's in Brooklyn is quite popular, so long lines are to be expected especially if its warm out like these summer temps we're having in autumn. They have classic flavors like vanilla and chocolate, as well as higher quality new flavors like strawberry cheesecake. I decided to go with the hard ice cream today because I wanted something that wouldn't melt 2 minutes after leaving the store LOL. I choose 2 big scoops of Pistachio, topped with whipped cream & a maraschino cherry. Excellent choice, I will no doubt keep coming back here for more.
I have been here a number of times. Great service at this location and whats not to like.. its Carvel!
Love the frozen and fresh Ice Cream
Why is carvel so darn good? This carvel has Nutella soft serve!!! Mix that with some strawberry soft serve then add some bananas and crunchies and you have yourself a party! Love it.
The selection is pretty pathetic for Carvel standards. I believe you can only choose from 12 different hard Ice Creams. They have many different cakes to choose from for special occasions and they will draft a message on the cakes for free.
They have the traditional soft Ice Cream such as Strawberry, Chocolate, and Vanilla. They can make sundaes and milk shakes for your liking.
The shop is really small and the staff are a bit slow to attend to your order. Sorry for the bash but that is my observation from coming here the last 15 years. Lines can be a bit long and out the door since there is not to many Ice Creams shops along Coney Island Avenue.
The 3 STARS represent the big cake collection, the yummy shakes they make, and of course because the product is Ice Cream. You can't go wrong with Ice Cream.
I'm siding with Darrin's review.
The service is horrendous. I brought my physically disabled mother here and she asked for a few napkins and the counter-brat ignored her. Egregious.
One star for outdoor seating & a spacious parking lot.
Wednesday is the day to be here. The line is usually outside the door because of buy one get one free sundae but it's worth it. I'm a huge fan of the nutella soft serve ice cream. And they just released pumpkin & Cinnabon soft serve ice cream. Both were delicious and are definitely a must try if you're in the neighborhood.
Back in September I was out near coney visiting friends, and we stopped into Carvel. I of course got chocolate + coffee overload with chocolate toppings and chocolate syrup. How can you go wrong? Carvel is a decent ice cream shop, not exactly Ben & Jerrys, but it hits the spot in a pinch.
