Used to be that there was a Carvel or some other small neighborhood Ice Cream Shop in every little town, but that's rare in this age of the super store and I didn't have time to meander a big market or deal with the long lines there.
One night, I was driving past and needed to grab a few desserts – lucked out finding a local Carvel. Was able to get in and out quickly and back to where I needed to be.
Carvel is a staple in YO and this one is my favorite. The more popular Carvel at the other end of McClean is a little less clean (in my eyes) and always crowded. This one is a smaller shop and I've never seen a line. With that said, business must be good because this shop has been here for as long as I remember, as other businesses on the block often come and go. Staff is polite & I like the seating space inside if you just want to hang out.
