Great food..4.5 stars
Came here on a Friday night with a groupon, and enjoyed this quaint little spot that is a mixture of a local hang out and a casual eatery with family.
Decor is nothing fancy: just couple of those hard chairs with soft cushion, colorful table clothes, big screen TV playing soccer, and a pleasant waitress running the show.
Ordered empanadas to start off: two beef, and two chicken–got to say one of the best I've ever had. Flaky crust fried to perfection, not burned, meat inside flavorful. Green sauce that it comes with gave it a nice spicy kick.
Entree- got the peppersteak, which comes with white rice, brown beans, and French fries. Wasn't a fan of the combination, I would've preferred the fried green plantain instead BUT the food was amazing and so was the portions. I was able to take some home. My friend enjoyed his fried snapper fish.
Drink- just a passion fruit juice, option of milk or water..chose milk. Consistency was a little thick but pretty much crack in a cup–so good.
Bill was $41–groupon knocked off $30, so $11 plus tip. Great deal, well worth it, will be back
I try as much as possible to support local restaurants in our neighborhood and have given Castillo restaurant a shot twice. Both times ive come out disappointed with the service and food. I've ordered their steak and onions and the breaded chicken cutlet, both came out bland and dry. The first time I ate at the restaurant there were only a handful of customers but the service was still slow. I like the ambience and feel of the place but was hoping for better food each time I go.
