  1. Foods okay. Service is okay. Kind of a typical place for the area. Nothing to write home about I guess.

It felt like the kitchen wasn't equipped properly, which is okay. Just make sure your recipes food to the tools you have on hand.

  2. Food and drinks deserved at least 4 stars: the Hurricane is sweet and delectable, the Death in the Afternoon has a serious kick, the Jardin scramble was savory and flavorful, and the Catfish Po' Boy was, quote, "the best catfish po' boy I've ever had," unquote my best friend.

So why 3 stars? The service, dude. It took us 15 minutes to order drinks, another 10 to order food, and then 20-25 minutes to actually get our food. Granted, it was Saturday afternoon brunch and it was a pretty packed place but DAMN. Service wasn't particularly amazing, either. Eh.

  3. Catfish is clutch for nightime eats in Brooklyn! I came here at about 10pm with a group of starving friends looking for something to fill us up. Catfish was on the money with the food and service that night. My party was seated immediately & they wasted no time taking our orders and getting our food to our table.

I ordered the chicken fried steak which came with grits and green beans. Every part of this dish was delicious! This is a well balanced entrée with the perfect combination of protein, starches and green vegetables. The steak was seasoned well and so was the batter they fry it in. The grits absorbed the grease from the steak making them flavorful. And the green beans had just enough salt, probably cooked with chicken stock for extra flavor. Nothing was bland or needed salt.

Catfish has earned a high spot on my list. Especially in the category of food after 10pm. Not that I wouldn't come in the day time. The truth is that most places serving quality comfort food like this are closed around 10pm. They get extra points for being able to accommodate my whole party. They have my vegan friend covered with an entrée that fits his dietary contraints. 4.5 stars for catfish for the quality of their food, fast service and for being open as late as they are. I will be back soon, if my next experience is like this last one I'll give them the 5th star for consistency.

  4. Hi, ex-po' boy-virgin here. Catfish is a NOLA style restaurant in the Crown Heights section of BK. Real laid back southern atmosphere. Friendly service, nice bar tender. I had the catfish Po boy, it was tasty but it had its flaws. The fish was fried, and it was hot on the outside and cold in the middle, should've stayed in the frier a bit longer.  Wish it was hotter. The sandwich lacked spiciness, since it was my first po boy sandwich, is it suppose to be spicy? Was it suppose to have Cajun spice, or Louisiana hot sauce. If it did, I was underwhelm, and no spices were found.  The lettuce, and specially the beef tomatoes were too much, but the catfish fillet was filling. It was ok non the less, not what I expected.Thank you Catfish.

  5. Great food, good beer, and super friendly and nice staff. They also have a back patio. They have lots of seating. I like this place because it's a casual neighborhood spot. It's totally unpretentious and just a fun place to hang, especially for happy hour. Everyone is just hanging out and not there to prove anything. I wish they had a shrimp poboy, but the friend chicken poboy, mac and cheese, and cornbread are delicious.

  6. Utterly disappointed. My boyfriend and I decided to try this place after we heard so many good things about it. We went for Sunday Brunch. Service was almost non-existent. We constantly had to flag down our waiters. After a while, a waiter finally took out order. We ordered the Delta Omelet (with crawfish, shrimp, and gruyere cheese) and a side order of buttermilk biscuits. The coffee was horrible and seriously tasted like soot. I've had better instant coffee which says a lot. No amount of sugar could help the taste of the coffee.

The omelet was bland – no flavor at all. This is supposed to be Cajun food people!!! Where's the flavor?? No taste whatsoever. The biscuits were hard as a rock. How is that even possible? The Pillsbury biscuits would put these biscuits to shame.

Needless to say, I won't be back.

  7. Came to Catfish for a late night dinner and really enjoyed it.

The staff is extremely friendly. It was very crowded but our food came out in a timely fashion. I ordered the Country Fried Steak with grits and asparagus. The steak was good and the gravy on top of it was even better. When I really think about it I've never had a reallyyyy amazing cut of steak with a country fried steak dish but this was good I enjoyed it. The grits were delicious probably my favorite thing. I don't eat asparagus so I can't really comment on that but I did try the collard greens which were excellent. I am very picky when it comes to collard greens. I have two grandmother's from South Carolina  who make amazing collard greens so I have very high standards for my greens. Overall the food is great, the spot is hip and the service is good. I definitely recommend coming here if your in the mood for some ragin' Cajun!

  8. LOVE this place! I'd been there for dinner before and also went today for brunch. Everyone who works there is super chill and nice! The food is great. I had the biscuits and bacon today and they were amazing. I got some vegetable dish for dinner one night and it was amazingly well done too. I like the vibe here! New fave local spot. Also, their wines are decent and both the breakfast cocktails I had today were bomb- Milk Punch and French 75!
