Small neighborhood Italian restaurant with a very hard working owner who takes an interest in what is being served. They have a full bar and a very nice wine menu to compliment their dinner or lunch menu.
The food was very delicious and not heavily fried or breaded… We had the veal Freddo and veal alla Sorrentina. Sorrentina is in a white wine sauce different than a Sorrentino that is in a brown sauce. The eggplant and prosciutto perfectly layered on top of the veal. Very accommodating to switch out the daily vegetables with a side of linguine marinara. The meal was very filling and we ended with two limoncello' from the owner who shared my photos on his phone that I had just yelped and stated he liked the way they looked.
Went there with two colleagues from work, as we were in town for a conference. I had chicken breast with mushroom sauce, penne pasta, a house salad, bread, and a whiskey sour.
The chicken breast was quite tender, but a bit on the dry side. Mushrooms and sauce were good, but nothing distinctive. A bit of salt brought out the flavor, though. The penne pasta had a very bland sauce and was to the undercooked side of al dente. It was also just barely above room temperature.
The salad was nicely done. Fresh greens with a sesame type dressing and fried onions on top. Oddly, the tomatoes and olives were served on the side. The "bowl" was a strip of cucumber. Pretty, but rather peculiar.
The bread was standard, hot, and plentiful.
Whiskey sour was long on the sweetness and short on the sour and whiskey, but not bad.
Overall, good, but not great. In a smaller city with fewer choice, would have been four stars.
Pizza here is Italian style – not New York.
I recommend the Fiocchi Quattro Formagi. It's $24 for "Pasta stuffed with pear, mascarpone, ricotta, provolone and parmesan cheese sautéed with cherry tomatoes and asparagus in truffle butter sauce" Ok? Did you get that? Do you understand. Come here and order this.
The also have this Brazilian beer, Devassa, that's pretty good.
Open til 11pm on the weekends. I tend to wait until the last minute to find food, so this was nice. We had a lovely conversation with a Spaniard server from Sevilla who looked Italian and sounds like he's from South America. New York is fun.
Gluten Free Options Available. My wife has a gluten free intolerance and our waitress was very knowledgeable and willing to help. The atmosphere was really nice and the menu options good. I got the Pizza Italiana and my wife chose the Build Your Own Pizza. A great experience all around.
Out and about in NYC with my bf's fam and they chose this place for dinner. They had made reservations so we didn't wait for a table. The service was prompt but the waiters were not friendly at all – not in a bad way but I guess I was expecting a little more chatter. They gave us some bread to start with. They had some olive oil for the table but no balsamic vinegar! I guess I'm used to other Italian places that had those. I would've asked one of the servers and but they rarely stopped by to check on us. I ordered the salmon for dinner and it was so good! Perfectly seasoned and cooked. I guess I misunderstood the menu because I thought all entrees came with pasta but none of ours did. I also tasted the chicken parm that my bf ordered and that was good as well. The entrees were a little on the small side or maybe I was just too hungry. Btw, we ordered an appetizer – stuffed clams, but they forgot it. For dessert, I got the cappuccino with amaretto. It was okay but bf thought it was excellent. Probably will be back if I can find the groupon or social living deal but then again, I think there's a lot more better Italian restaurants with better prices in the area.
This was ok. My pasta dish was light but a tad blind. My daughter said her meatballs were bland and not well flavored. The food was edible.
But the service is dreadfully slow. They also only have one bathroom for the entire restaurant.
There are better options in nyc for Italian
Came here last night with 10 other people for my friend's bday dinner celebration. My friend (bday girl) picked the restaurant and it was a great choice. It's a quick walk from the Rockefeller Center subway station. We were seated downstairs and it was a nice atmosphere since it was quite and we also claimed majority of the space with our big group. 🙂 There was another small group dining nearby.
We ordered and shared the calamari appetizers (spicy and the classic marinara sauce). It was amazing and not rubbery. I only got the to try the spicy calamari tho and it was not spicy at all – which was good since I can't tolerate extremely spicy food. For the entree, I ordered the linguine with white clam sauce. The clams were huge! Personally, I like small clams tho. Overall, a solid entree. For dessert, I ordered the tiramisu for myself and I enjoyed it.
I would comeback again. Great for groups and I would recommend making a reservation for a large group so you can have private dining space.
Stopped in to grab a bite to eat after seeing a show on Broadway. While I enjoyed the ambiance, the food was nothing to write home about. The staff was friendly, professional, and courteous.
I ordered the veal. The veal was topped with eggplant and prosciutto. The food was bland. The veal was accompanied with a medley of mixed vegetables. The vegetables were good, perfectly seasoned and a great size portion.
I knew I was disappointed in this restaurant, when I turned down dessert. I love dessert & opted not to try it after this disappointment. There are many other places in NYC to go to get my pallet tantalized.
